Khan stood proudly before the assembled usurpers, enjoying every moment of their admiration.
"I told you," he said with a smug grin. "Xavier was never the hero they believed him to be. In the end, he died just like anyone else."
Several of the commanders laughed.
"You should have seen their faces," Khan continued, unable to hide his satisfaction. "The girls cried so hard they could barely stand. My mother completely lost her composure. King Highmoor looked as though the world had ended."
He laughed again.
"And Xavier…"
He mimicked the final moments of the battle.
"He knelt before me, powerless. The corruption crushed his cultivation, and when his precious Empress refused to beg…"
Khan slowly raised a hand.
"I snapped his neck."
Crack.
He smiled wickedly.
"It was surprisingly easy."
More laughter spread through the chamber.
Even Ken allowed himself a satisfied smile.
"You've done well."
"The world now believes its greatest protector is gone."
Khan nodded proudly.
