In the next instant, her wings flapped again. Somehow she produced a very strange weapon—something that looked like bone, yet also somewhat like a war blade.
She slashed directly toward the Golden Dragon Spear!
"Boom—!"
Mo Mei had clearly underestimated the power of the Golden Dragon Spear. Her body jerked backward as she was blasted away, flying dozens of meters.
"Ah!"
She let out a series of miserable cries.
Gu You immediately realized this was a perfect opportunity. The Golden Dragon Spear returned to his hand, and he flashed forward, intending to finish her off.
Mo Mei quickly regained her composure. As she retreated, a flicker of light appeared around her body. Her wings seemed to flap once—
—and in the next moment, she had already appeared in front of Gu You.
"So generous? Delivering yourself to my door?" Gu You laughed as he thrust the Golden Dragon Spear forward.
Mo Mei snorted disdainfully.
The blade in her hand left a chain of afterimages. Her speed was terrifying. Before Gu You's spear could land, her weapon had already slashed brutally into his shoulder.
"Pfft—!"
Blood burst out.
Gu You felt the terrifying force nearly shatter his left shoulder blade.
But at that moment, his powerful physique showed its value.
Although he couldn't use soul skills or soul power, the defensive strength of the Mountain Dragon King torso bone still remained. As his clavicle and shoulder blade cracked, the bones suddenly tightened—
—and clamped down on the enemy's blade.
From the weapon surged an energy filled with despair and destruction.
Not bad… but not much!
Using his body to trap the blade, Gu You seized the opportunity. His Golden Dragon Spear struck again and again—over a dozen thrusts in succession.
The first strike had landed earlier, but not deep enough to deal serious damage. The following strikes, however, were all devastating, each delivered with full power.
Mo Mei howled in pain as she was repeatedly pierced.
"Human. Your soul will suffer eternal torment in the Abyss!" Mo Mei's voice echoed once more in Gu You's mind.
"Then you can go back to your Abyss first!"
With the final thrust, the spear plunged deep into her body, violently absorbing her energy.
"Aaah—!"
Amid a miserable scream, she vanished—transforming into pure energy.
She was permanently absorbed into Gu You's body, completely devoured. She wouldn't even be able to return to the Abyss.
Golden light flashed as the Golden Dragon Spear returned to Gu You's hand.
Gu You took a deep breath and pulled the blade still lodged in his shoulder free.
Then he adjusted the blood-energy vortex inside his body. A surge of powerful blood energy flooded toward the wound.
Holding the spear in his left hand, he used his right hand to push against his shoulder twice, aligning the bones.
Standing behind him, the Major could even hear the cracking sounds of bones shifting.
Yet Gu You's body didn't tremble even once.
This was simply an iron-like will.
"Ah… it's over. It should be over now," the Major muttered nervously as she fumbled around her body for something.
If it continued any longer, she felt she might die from shock.
The surroundings suddenly became distorted.
Gu You's body trembled slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.
His chest rose and fell several times before gradually calming.
Subconsciously, he touched his left shoulder.
The glass capsule opened, and all the restraints attached to his body released.
Rolling his shoulder slightly, Gu You stepped out of the capsule.
The Major in the capsule beside him had not yet awakened. Through the glass, he could see her brow tightly furrowed, as if she were enduring intense pain.
Suddenly, her body shook violently—then calmed again.
Was she about to wake up? That was quite dramatic.
From the aura he had sensed earlier, Gu You estimated that the Major's soul power cultivation was around five rings.
Although he didn't know her background, reaching such a level at twenty-five or twenty-six years old was already extremely impressive.
Of course, ordinary soul masters couldn't be compared to him.
Among people of the same age, he was meant to stand at the very peak.
After a moment, the Major slowly opened her eyes.
At first her gaze was unfocused, but gradually it regained clarity.
Through the glass, she saw Gu You standing outside watching her.
A complicated look flashed deep within her eyes.
She opened the capsule and removed the restraints from her body.
But when she stepped out, her legs suddenly went weak.
Gu You almost instinctively stepped forward and caught her.
During the earlier battle he hadn't noticed, but now he could clearly feel it—
Her body temperature was slightly high.
Her figure was excellent, firm and elastic—clearly the result of frequent training. Her short hair looked neat and sharp, and there was a heroic aura between her brows.
"Thank you." The Major's pretty face flushed red as she quickly steadied herself and stepped out of Gu You's arms.
Gu You said, "My assessment…"
The Major froze briefly, but quickly regained her composure. Her expression even seemed to return to its usual coldness.
"You've passed. Come with me."
After speaking, she led him out of the testing room.
Her pace was fast—much faster than when they had arrived, almost as if she were trying to escape something.
Gu You followed behind her as they moved through the camp.
Soon they returned to the place they had started and met the lieutenant again.
"Finished already? Took quite a while! Did the young man pass?" the lieutenant asked with a smile.
The Major nodded.
"He passed."
Gu You noticed that this time they didn't address each other by rank.
"What level did he pass at?" the lieutenant asked curiously.
The Major shook her head.
"I don't know. The higher-ups need to evaluate it. Very high."
"Very high?"
The lieutenant knew this Major well. There were only a few people in the entire Blood God Legion who could receive such an evaluation from her.
One could imagine how shocked she must have been by this handsome young man.
"Please handle his supply registration," the Major said. "Assign him temporarily to the Special Service Department. His specific position will be decided after the higher-ups complete their evaluation."
"Alright. Would you like to show him around the camp? He's already a member of the Blood God Legion now," the lieutenant asked with a grin.
The Major hesitated briefly, then nodded.
"Fine. I'll wait outside. Register him."
She turned and walked toward the door.
After a few steps, she suddenly stopped and turned back to Gu You.
"My name is Long Yuxue."
After saying that, she strode out.
Long Yuxue… the name sounded strangely familiar.
"Do you think her name sounds nice?" the lieutenant asked with a smile.
Gu You looked at him strangely before replying with a smile, "It's quite nice."
The lieutenant leaned in mysteriously.
"Then work hard…"
