Chapter 4 - Enrolling in the classes

As Rohit was walking on the footpath, he thought,

"I should buy some food."

He then remembered that the nearest bakery from his current location was about 100 meters away, requiring two left turns.

While walking, he saw many people in the same uniform plotting something, but he assumed it was just a group meeting and continued forward.

As he reached the bakery, he opened the door and looked at the baker. She was an old lady with wrinkles due to age and white hair.

"Welcome, Robert," she smiled.

Robert, upon hearing the greeting, responded, "Thank you, Mrs. Symrin." He then continued, "Can I have four loaves of bread?"

Mrs. Symrin nodded, took out some bread, secured them in a bag, and handed it to Robert.

"Four pennies."

In KUC, the currency system consisted of two levels: pennies and notes.

Twelve pennies amounted to one note, and pennies were commonly used among the middle class.

"The price has increased to four pennies?" Rohit asked.

"What can I say, dear? The wheat harvest was not good this year..." Mrs. Symrin replied.

Rohit nodded in understanding and took the bread.

Now, Rohit thought that the best way to extract information about an area was to ask the locals.

Clearing his throat, he asked, "Mrs. Symrin, can you tell me about any upcoming local events?"

Mrs. Symrin thought for a moment and then replied, "There has been an increase in criminal activity near Cosford, according to the Cosford Times..."

Robert nodded and responded, "The guards will handle it."

Mrs. Symrin agreed, "The guards are competent enough."

After the conversation, Rohit bade farewell to Mrs. Symrin and walked out of the bakery, carrying four loaves of bread.

As the afternoon approached, Rohit bought some spices. While walking toward his home, he noticed a sign on a building that read:

{CLASSES FOR BASIC MAGIC ABILITIES}

Basic Magic Abilities?

Rohit thought as he stepped inside the building and placed his belongings on a nearby chair within his sight.

He approached the woman at the counter, who was reading the Cosford Times. She got up and looked at Rohit.

"Welcome, sir. Are you here for admission to this month's classes, or are you looking to buy magical tools?"

The woman wore a dark green uniform, and her hair was black.

"Please tell me the admission fee for one month's classes," Rohit asked.

The woman looked at him and explained, "For one month, it will be two notes."

Rohit was a little flabbergasted by the high price but decided to enroll.

He took out two red notes and handed them to the lady. "I want to enroll for one month."

The woman checked the notes for any counterfeits, then smiled and said, "My name is Angelina Topez."

"I'm Robert Smith," Rohit introduced himself.

The lady bowed slightly and pointed to the door beside the counter. "Sir, we offer defense classes and other optional courses. We also have a training room for practicing low-level offensive and defensive spells."

She then took out a small map of the building's interior along with the class schedule. "Here, sir. This may help you."

Robert received the map and thanked her. "Thank you, Mrs. Topez."

The lady smiled and informed him, "Sir, the offensive spells class is currently in session. You may attend it if you're free while I process your payment and complete your paperwork, along with assigning you a personal locker key."

So many facilities...

Rohit thought as he nodded and pointed to his belongings. "Please keep an eye on these. It's my stuff."

Angelina agreed and opened the door for Rohit to enter the class.
