Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: I Didn't Mean to Start a Religion!

Kenji's first experience in his new world was pain. Or at least, it would have been if he weren't completely immune to damage.

Instead of crashing into the ground and becoming a pancake, he landed with a soft plop, the earth itself seemingly bending to cushion his fall. A small crater formed beneath him, but aside from a slight bounce from the impact, he was completely fine.

"Huh. That could've been worse." He dusted himself off and took in his surroundings. Lush green forests stretched out before him, a pristine blue sky overhead, and in the distance, a medieval-looking town sat nestled against a riverbank. Different bird species that he has never seen before, as well as small animals.

Classic fantasy setting. Nice.

"Alright, first things first—let's figure out where I am." Kenji casually activated his Blessing of Absolute Knowledge, and instantly, a complete map of the world, its history, cultures, and politics flooded into his brain.

"…Okay, that was way too much information. Can I filter that?" The overwhelming knowledge toned down to just the basics.

Apparently, he had landed near Eldoria, a major kingdom known for its adventurers, magic academies, and frequent monster attacks. It was basically every JRPG starter town rolled into one.

"Well, I guess I should head there first." Kenji took a step forward and—

BOOM!

A massive explosion rocked the nearby forest, followed by the terrified screams of villagers. Kenji turned toward the noise and saw a group of armored soldiers chasing down a young woman with long silver hair. She was clutching an ancient-looking book to her chest while frantically dodging magical attacks.

"Halt, heretic! Surrender the sacred book or else perish!" one of the knights bellowed.

"Over my dead body!" the girl shot back, narrowly evading a fireball.

Kenji sighed. "Welp. Time to play hero."

With a casual flick of his wrist, he activated his Blessing of Overpowered Speed and instantly appeared between the girl and the knights, startling everyone present.

"Yo." Kenji waved. "What's going on here?"

The knights recoiled in shock. "Wh-Who are you?!"

"Oh, just a traveler passing by," Kenji said, stretching. "But from the looks of it, you're bullying this girl, so I guess that makes me her bodyguard now."

The girl blinked in surprise. "Wait, what? I don't even know you—"

"Shhh, let's roll with it."

The lead knight scoffed. "You dare defy the Holy Order? That book she carries is forbidden! Step aside or face divine punishment!"

Kenji scratched his head. "Yeah, no. Not feeling that." He absentmindedly activated Blessing of Absolute Authority, and immediately, the knights fell to their knees, trembling as though they had just looked upon a god.

"W-What is this feeling?!" one knight stammered.

"His presence… it's divinity!" another whispered in awe.

Kenji blinked. "Wait, really? Oh. Oh no. Did I just—"

The knights suddenly prostrated themselves. "Forgive us, O Divine One! We did not recognize your greatness!"

They started to look at him with great piety and faith. With the way their eyes were bloodshot and with them panting and tongues were out, you would believe that something else entirely was occurring here.

Kenji groaned. "Oh, come on! I didn't mean to start a religion!"

The silver-haired girl, still clutching her book, stared at him in utter bewilderment. "…Who are you?"

Kenji sighed. "Long story short? I think I just accidentally became a god."

"...."

"...Wut??"
