Xiaoyu looked at her with a serious expression and asked, "What's wrong, Miss An?"
An Ran glanced around uncertainly, "Miss Huang, did you hear someone calling for help?"
"A call for help?" Xiaoyu also became serious and looked around. Apart from the two of them, there didn't seem to be anyone else nearby.
"Miss An, you must have heard wrong. We are so close to the guard team, who would dare cause trouble here? Where would a call for help come from..."
Before Xiaoyu could finish her sentence, a clear call for help reached their ears. It sounded like a child's cry for help. An Ran looked towards the river and saw, as expected, two small dark heads on the wide river surface—someone was drowning.
Without thinking further, An Ran dropped the bag in her hand and ran towards the river.
Xiaoyu quickly followed. When they reached the riverbank, An Ran pointed at one of them and said, "You go save the one at the back, I'll go after the one at the front."
