Chapter 180: Er Ming Furiously Berates Tang San
Wang Dong quickly flew toward the Clear Sky Sect's castle. As usual, her First and Second Fathers were likely inside since they rarely left. "I need to get to the bottom of this! First Father and Second Father owe me an explanation!" she muttered to herself. That strange consciousness had been severely interfering with her life, and she no longer wanted to be affected by it.
Wang Dong was a proud person. As the Young Sect Master of the Clear Sky Sect, she had every right to be proud on the Douluo Continent.
"Xiao Dong, why have you suddenly returned? I remember you used the sect's channels to invite the Medicine Immortal Douluo for treatment. Don't tell me even she was powerless? I told you before, it's just an illusion. Your First Father and I will find a way to cure it for you," a hearty voice called from within the castle.
Soon, two figures emerged.
The speaker was a burly middle aged man with short, steel like hair and sharp facial features exuding determination. This was Er Ming, who had taken on a human form and now went by the name Titan.
Beside him stood Da Ming, appearing as a middle aged man with long, flowing green hair draped over his shoulders. His seemingly calm eyes carried a faint green glow, and his presence radiated strength. He now went by the name Niu Tian.
"Second Father!" Wang Dong flapped her wings, landed on the ground, and strode toward Titan, her face filled with anger. "This is not an illusion at all! According to Medicine Immortal Douluo, it's actually a protective measure. But why would something meant to protect me interfere with my life?"
Er Ming was momentarily speechless, looking at Wang Dong's furious expression. He wondered how Medicine Immortal Douluo had figured out that the consciousness was meant to protect her. Did she launch an attack on Wang Dong? No, that couldn't be if she had, she would have died on the spot. It seemed she had merely tested it through gentler means.
A look of helplessness crossed his face, and he let out a long sigh. "Xiao Dong, this was actually left behind by your father to protect you. As for that consciousness… it's a separate issue entirely. It's more like an illness and has nothing to do with the protective measure."
He had no intention of taking the blame for Tang San. That consciousness was entirely Tang San's doing. The perfect version of Tang Wutong should have been a fusion of Xiao Qi and Wang Dong. Since Xiao Qi retained only memories of the Divine Realm, she had fallen into slumber, while Wang Dong had no childhood memories, only memories from her life on Douluo Continent.
Tang San claimed this was to adhere to the rule that "gods should not interfere in the mortal world," but Er Ming felt it was just a convenient excuse to push his "New Star Cultivation Plan."
"Really?" Wang Dong looked at Er Ming suspiciously. "Second Father, are you lying to me? The last time I asked about this consciousness, you told me it was just an illusion, and now you're changing your story."
Er Ming froze, feeling a bit helpless. He inwardly cursed Tang San if not for him, there would be no need to cover one lie with another. Now, things were getting complicated, and he needed to come up with a new excuse to convince Wang Dong.
Seeing Er Ming struggling, Da Ming immediately stepped in. "Alright, Xiao Dong, your Second Father is a bit impulsive. Sometimes, he speaks too hastily and ends up explaining things poorly. What he meant to say is that this illness causes hallucinations.
"You've joined the Tang Sect, so you should know that some poisons, while non lethal, can cause hallucinations and make people act strangely. Once the poison wears off, they don't remember what they did.
"Your condition is more complex it's a persistent ailment, similar to those kinds of poisons. The fact that even Medicine Immortal Douluo couldn't cure it is normal. After all, she's not omnipotent."
Da Ming had no choice. He had to cover for Er Ming. Ultimately, all of this was Tang San's fault. If not for him, they wouldn't have to lie to Wang Dong at all.
Wang Dong's gaze shifted between Da Ming and Er Ming. "First Father, Second Father, you're not conspiring to deceive me, are you?"
Er Ming laughed heartily. "How could we possibly deceive you? Your First Father and I were personally vouched for by your father as honest men!"
Wang Dong exhaled but kept her face stern. "Then what about my father? Where is he? I've never had any childhood memories, and I don't even remember him."
Da Ming quickly responded, "He has been working tirelessly for your well being. It won't be long before you get to meet him."
In Da Ming's mind, Wang Dong was only meant to stay on Douluo Continent for a few years. Once her strength reached a certain level, she would undergo the inheritance of a deity and ascend to the Divine Realm.
For someone as old as Da Ming, even if Wang Dong remained on the continent for another decade, it would still be nothing more than the blink of an eye.
Unable to meet her parents for so long, Wang Dong felt frustrated. She sighed. "Alright, First Father, I understand. But that consciousness isn't just stopping me from using soul tools it even forced me into a trance last time and took control of my body. My condition is getting worse."
"What did you say? It controlled your body?" Da Ming was stunned, his voice rising sharply.
"Yeah, I lost my memory for a while. According to the dean, 'I' took him and Xiao Xiao to the Star Dou Forest to find Teacher Xiao Ya, but I have no recollection of it at all. Whatever, let's not talk about it. Since I took time off to come back, I'm going to rest for two days. First Father, Second Father, I got all sweaty on the way here, so I'm going to take a bath first!" With that, Wang Dong quickly flew toward the castle.
Da Ming and Er Ming watched as she disappeared into the distance.
Once she was out of sight, Er Ming immediately set up a mental barrier to ensure their conversation wouldn't be overheard. He could no longer hold back. "Big Brother, Tang San has gone too far! I really can't understand how a father could do something like this!
"If Wang Dong hadn't mentioned it just now, I wouldn't have even known that Tang San actually temporarily controlled her body with his divine sense to make her do what he wanted!
"Pah! And this guy dares to go around in the Divine Realm boasting about how pure and righteous he is? He's a complete scumbag! I feel like telling Sister Xiao Wu everything and letting her give Tang San the beating he deserves!"
Da Ming was equally furious, though he remained slightly more composed than Er Ming. He said, "Er Ming, be careful what you say. Tang San isn't the same as before he's now one of the Five God Kings, immensely powerful and highly influential.
"If we tell Sister Xiao Wu, even if Tang San spares us for her sake, we will undoubtedly be removed from Wang Dong's side. If that happens, he might do something even more outrageous.
"Recently, he's been pushing for Wang Dong to enter the Emotion Inquiry Valley, but because we've been stalling him, he hasn't been able to make it happen. I don't want Wang Dong to suffer through all that hardship."
