As the stream of information pierced his brain,he picked up a pen and paper to write down information he got after the stream of information stopped. When he finished roughly 40 seconds of relentless information storming, he managed to calm down and started going through the information obtained and noting it down carefully. When he read through the information he wrote,he came to understand the essence of his mission and new information that both amazed and baffled him. First pertaining his mission; obtaining information and analysing the Priest path Codex. A Codex is a special 'book' containing and producing all the power, symbolism and information of a certain path. This destroyed the misconception in Marcus' mind that the power of a path comes from a great shard which a person absorbs a fragment of it to obtain the superhuman abilities of the certain path and conducting rituals to advance further in the path. While most of this is the truth,the powers' origin came from the Codex of the path and a great shard is one of the manifestations of the power produced by a Codex. He also learnt that a person at the peak of a path could accommodate the Codex of their path making them a tracendent of their path making them attain unimaginable power over their respective path.
Marcus with this information came to a conclusion as he looked at a corner where there was an emblem of a sword with weighing scales on its cross guard with a series of books and buildings surrounding the bottom of the blade. That emblem was the sacred symbol of the god of law and order with whom his family faith lie with. The gods of his world are probably humans from long ago who managed to accommodate the Codex of the paths they were in gaining unimaginable power. This realization made Marcus understand the difficulty and complexity of his mission. He was essentially asked to find a god and analyse their source of power. This realization sent a shiver down Marcus' spine.
He also came to realize two things involving his own path and the shard fragment he had in his body allowing him to wield his abilities of the Doctor path. The first thing was that Wanderer broke down his shard fragment and distributed the particles to every cell in his body. This was called fragment dissociation and it allowed one to outsource their supernatural abilities with more ease and their efficiency in doing increased threefold. This meant he was much more effective at using his abilities compared at the same level of his path. This made Marcus excited but the joy brought by this was nothing compared to his second realization;he had somehow advanced to Potion Maestro of the Doctor path which was a level higher from his previous level Pharmacist.
He deduced that he advanced to this level when he was exposed to the stream of information from the indescribable form of Wanderer which managed to penetrate his spirit and imprinted itself there. Among this information there was a variety of information regarding potions used by all sorts of sapient creatures in the cosmos during their journeys which indirectly fulfilled the ritual to advance to Potion Maestro; imprint the various information regarding over 1000 potions in his Spirit Canvas.
Marcus initially never held out any hope of advancing due to the fact that he could never obtain formulas for 1000 potions let alone concise details about them and accessing one's Spirit Canvas was a heavily guarded piece of information by major Treader (term used to refer to people who attained superhuman abilities of their respective paths) families, organizations and governments. Now Marcus had 1457 potion formulas and detailed information on their respective ingredients and applications and he could also access his Spirit Canvas.
Marcus stood up and decided to analyze all the abilities he got as a Potion Maestro. He activated his unique sight ability and saw it had a drastic improvement. He could see organs much more clearly and also saw hormonal changes in his body and could influence them to a certain extent. His Accuracy ability that he used to aim at the acid monster had seen a great improvement since now he could track physical and chemical changes in the body of a creature to a very minute scale. He also gained an ability called Lab Rat which gave him the sub abilities of Resistance and Adapt.
Resistance gave him the ability to gain a certain immunity and resistance to all sorts of unstable potions, substances and poisons. Adapt gave him the ability to develop an antibody to certain pathogens, poisons and substances or develop a more potent version of the said substances. Lastly he gained the capacity to perform flesh and blood magic and a decent improvement to his least used ability Bone Crusher which he could channel his strength to a certain point and release it making him capable of crushing bones. The improvement he got to that ability is that he could channel it to an external object and it now had the capacity of breaking the body of a steel type creature.
Marcus decided to access his Spirit Canvas to see the details of the information imprinted there. He first closed his eyes and stabilised his breathing and willed his life force to connect to the deepest reaches of his spirit. He then opened his eyes and saw a midnight blue expanse with green text written all over. He read the text written in the expanse but the information was all jumbled up and a vast majority of what was imprinted was useless travel stories with only about five percent of the stories contained the potion information.
This made him realize the sheer scale of information that had imprinted itself in his soul. Marcus organized the information according to importance with the information involving the potions at the top. While organizing the information he came across a story that had information on the next level of his path. Just when he is about to divulge its contents a knocking sound on the wooden door which caused him to return to reality.
He then opened the door and was met with a woman with dark complexion and long curly hair. "Let's go eat dinner mom is waiting,"the woman said. "Sure,"said Marcus as a smile formed on his face and followed the woman.
