Chapter 39 - A little Date

Kieran and I started the day in the city. I expected a walk—maybe coffee. But instead, he drove us to a cozy little theater nestled between a bakery and a flower shop. It wasn't one of those massive multiplexes. The place had velvet seats, dim lighting, and only three screens.

"You picked a movie?" I asked, eyeing the faded sign above the door.

"I did," he said, holding the door open for me. "And I'm praying you don't hate it."

The film was a fantasy epic—dramatic sword fights, a complicated romance, and just enough dragons to keep it interesting. We sat in the back row.

He didn't try to touch me. Didn't lean too close. But halfway through, he whispered, "I like the female lead."

I tilted toward him. "Why?"

"She reminds me of you. Fierce. Soft when no one's looking."

My heart did a full somersault. I didn't know how to respond. So I said nothing and focused on the screen, but I carried those words with me long after the credits rolled.
