Chapter 458: A Jealous Qian Renxue
Qian Renxue was a woman with a bit of strategy.
She knew that if she acted completely indifferent, then in the future, whenever he brought home new "sisters" for her, he would do so even more recklessly. On the other hand, if she showed her displeasure, he would at least consider her feelings before taking in other women. He wouldn't just bring any random woman into the family.
There's a saying: "The child who cries the loudest gets the milk." This applies to relationships as well.
If Qian Renxue expressed sadness and discomfort over him accepting other women, then every time he did so, he would remember her reaction and feel guilty about it. That guilt would lead him to cherish and adore her even more.
On the contrary, if she acted indifferent and even encouraged him, he would eventually get used to it and take it for granted. He wouldn't appreciate her understanding he might even keep adding more women until she was completely neglected.
Additionally, showing a bit of vulnerability could also stir a man's protective instincts.
Of course, she couldn't be unreasonable. Throwing a little tantrum occasionally was fine, but if she did it too often, she would only wear down his patience and invite resentment. Everything required balance only by handling things appropriately could she navigate the battlefield of love skillfully and freely.
These were lessons Qian Renxue had learned from older, more experienced women who had successfully tamed their husbands. Now, she was applying these same tactics to Ye Cheng.
The Next Day
After making sure Qian Renxue had calmed down a little, Ye Cheng took the initiative to visit her, hoping to ease the tension between them.
At that moment, Qian Renxue was playing with little Keli, while Bibi Dong sat nearby, watching them with a soft smile. At this moment, she had shed all her past burdens, revealing a warmth and sincerity rarely seen in her before.
"…Daddy's here!"
Keli's sharp eyes spotted Ye Cheng approaching from a distance. Her face lit up with excitement as she dashed toward him and leaped into his arms. Ye Cheng caught her easily, spinning her around a few times, his face full of joy.
Ever since the video had exposed Ye Cheng as Keli's father, the little girl had become even more attached to him. She had no issues processing her newfound family status her young mind was quite simple. The kind uncle had now become "Daddy," which meant she could cling to him even more!
She would often ask when her little sister, Kanna, would arrive, completely unconcerned about whether having a sibling would take away any of her parents' attention.
Qian Renxue watched the man holding her daughter approach, her face still cold, but a deep sense of unease was growing within her.
In Keli's heart, Ye Cheng had transitioned from "Uncle" to "Daddy."
But what about her?
She was still just "Auntie Xue."
The problem lay in the fact that the video had only revealed Ye Cheng as Keli's father, but it had never confirmed who her mother was. Because of this, in Keli's innocent little mind, her mother was still Bibi Dong.
So now, her own daughter thought she was just an auntie, while her supposed son in law was her daughter's partner.
How was she supposed to deal with this?
As for why she didn't just tell Keli the truth about her being her real mother, the issue was simply too complicated. The situation couldn't be explained easily, and it was far beyond what a child like Keli could understand. It was better to just let things happen naturally and tell her when she was older.
Or perhaps, once they had bonded enough, she could gently reveal the truth.
"Xue'er…"
Ye Cheng held Keli in his arms as he approached Qian Renxue and called out to her softly.
"Hmph!"
Qian Renxue turned her head slightly, still keeping her face cold, pretending to be upset and unwilling to speak to him.
"Is Auntie Xue mad?"
Keli blinked her big eyes, then pouted and looked at Ye Cheng. "Daddy, you're not allowed to bully girls!"
"I've been wronged!"
Ye Cheng played along, putting on an expression more aggrieved than Dou E, sighing dramatically. "How could Daddy ever bully your Auntie Xue? I just made a small mistake and upset her, but she still hasn't forgiven me. Sigh…"
At the end of his sentence, he let out a long sigh, his face full of sadness and regret.
Seeing her daddy looking so pitiful, Keli's little heart softened instantly. She reached out her tiny hands to smooth the frown on his forehead and said in her childish voice, "Don't be sad, Daddy… Mommy said that if you do something wrong, as long as you apologize properly, you'll be forgiven. If you just say sorry to Auntie Xue, you'll still be a good boy."
"Really?"
"Xue'er, will you really forgive me?"
Ye Cheng immediately turned to look at Qian Renxue with "surprise," and little Keli followed suit, her big, expectant eyes staring at her.
With father and daughter both watching her so intently, Qian Renxue suddenly felt immense pressure. She almost lost her composure on the spot!
She secretly cursed Ye Cheng for being too cunning he was using their daughter to force her to respond!
But as she looked at the man and the little girl, both gazing at her with those big, hopeful eyes, she couldn't help but soften.
She hadn't actually been that angry to begin with.
She had only pretended to be upset to make Ye Cheng take her more seriously.
Now, seeing that her goal had been achieved, dragging things out any longer might just end up being annoying.
So, her icy expression finally melted, and she let out a soft sigh, looking at the father and daughter duo with a helpless expression. She didn't say anything, but the cold aura around her disappeared. She was no longer giving off the feeling of being an untouchable ice queen.
Meanwhile…
Bibi Dong watched from a distance as the three reconciled and felt like she was being force fed an overdose of public displays of affection.
She suddenly wondered was she even supposed to be here right now?
"Sigh… My daughter has grown up," Bibi Dong thought, feeling a strange sense of loneliness.
Seeing others happily paired up, she couldn't help but think about herself… and her first love from her younger days.
Immediately, she felt disgusted.
God knew why, back when she was a young girl, she had been blind enough to fall for that useless man.
She had even been so delusional as to want to run away with him, abandoning everything just to leave the Spirit Hall.
Thinking back on it now, she realized just how naive she had been her mind had been completely clouded by love, without considering the consequences.
Even if she had successfully run away, could they have truly lived happily ever after?
One of them was destined to become a god.
The other was a useless, weakling incapable of even reaching Rank 30.
With such a vast difference in talent and fate, how could they have possibly stayed together?
Now, looking back, she realized that even if she had managed to escape and be with Yu Xiaogang, their life together wouldn't have been happy at all.
Bibi Dong sighed internally. She had long since come to terms with the past.
After decades of hatred and resentment after suffering through the corrupting whispers of the Rakshasa God she had finally ascended to godhood and freed herself from the demons of her past.
Now, there was hardly anything left in the world that could shake her heart anymore.
Even if Qian Xunji or Yu Xiaogang suddenly resurrected and stood before her, she would feel absolutely nothing.
Those men had become nothing more than insignificant dust in the wind.
