CASEY
I looked at him, struck silent. I didn't know what to say. He was looking at me expectantly. I knew he said that he would leave me alone, but I also knew that included leaving this deal, leaving this contract alone. That's what he meant, even though he didn't put it like that.
Why was he doing this? Why was he putting me on the spot like that?
I swallowed.
"I think we should go back. They must be waiting for us." I tried to stand, but he held my hand and pulled me back onto the lounge chair.
I kind of squealed. I wasn't expecting that. It wasn't hard. He didn't pull me hard, but still.
"I'm sorry," he said immediately as I righted myself.
"I'm sorry. I can't do this. I'm just going to go," he added, standing up and turning to leave.
I knew if he left, I would have failed. God damn it.
"All right, Sebastian, wait." He stopped, turning around a bit too slowly.
