As Kiwa had predicted, the group did indeed dine with the Warm Sea Association President and Llyr at the most prestigious restaurant in Deadworld Trench before returning to the Sea Pearl Palace to sleep until tomorrow. It had to be said that everyone was very happy to be able to sleep in such comfort. The last time they had had such a good night's sleep was in the Floating Air Barracks.
However, even compared to that, their current situation was heaven and earth. Although the beds at the school felt like soft wool compared to sleeping on the road, the feeling was still nowhere near the comfort that the Sea Pearl Palace provided. Kamu was the only one of the entire group who had perhaps experienced such a thing. However, he did not exactly prefer this kind of accommodation.
However, now he was forced to accept the situation. The team was technically guests of honor at the headquarters of the Warm Sea Association, and as such it was not proper to object or refuse their host's gifts. So Kamu just tolerated the situation in silence, better to say tolerated Ajtony complaining to him that it was not fair that only the Teike could sleep in such comfort.
Even if the poisoner had let the man sleep properly, he didn't do so, and in fact did everything he could to make the situation as uncomfortable as possible for Kamu. However, it wasn't just Kamu who didn't sleep properly that night. In another part of Deadworld Trench, in the president's office, Mittar had finished his work with great difficulty and was just preparing to go to bed, like his employees, before the long day tomorrow, when the window of his office opened seemingly on its own.
"Hello, Mittar." Hearing the melodious voice, the president immediately turned on his heel and stretched himself out.
"Sir! I didn't think you would visit today. You said you were incognito from your companions." The man blinked in confusion, and Teveli, who was sitting at the window, smiled faintly.
"That doesn't mean you'll get away with our conversation. Did you get the information I asked for?" He asked, tilting his head to the side, which made his look creepy. Such an innocent gesture, with that smile and those eyes. Even the hair on the back of a person's back stood up at the sight. Hearing the question, Mittar turned to his desk and pulled out a scroll from one of the closed drawers, which he slowly handed to Teveli.
"Here is everything you asked for, sir." Mittar pulled himself out respectfully, but the hegin boy paid no attention to him, only to the object in his hand, which he immediately unrolled and quickly ran through. He frowned for a moment, but finally just nodded.
"Perfect." He said calmly, then turned his attention back to the president of the Warm Sea Association as he hung the scroll around his waist. "So what are your plans for us tomorrow?" He asked in a much more direct tone, as if he wasn't talking to one of his subordinates.
"Well, since Kiwa managed to arrange for me not to show up at the volcanology center, I'll be showing you around the coral reef." The predator man explained.
"You canceled the volcanology center visit? The team would have been interested in it, for sure." Teveli patted his chin with the index finger of his right hand.
"Well, you know, sir, it wouldn't have been a normal visit." Mittar craned his neck, trying not to look at Teveli.
"What do you mean by that?" The Tele boy lowered his voice and narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"I know you said you didn't like us using the information we have to eliminate someone, we're not the Immortal Mist, but..." The older man began, but Teveli interrupted him.
"Did you want to kill someone?" The hegin's eyes sparkled and he even smiled, but this only made the president's face pale. It was never a good sign when their leader was as enthusiastic as he was now.
"Yes?" Mittar asked cautiously.
"Tell me about the target!" Teveli gave the order.
"We received news of a big-name assassin who is not affiliated with any organization. Although I would rather call him a poacher, he refers to himself as an assassin. His presence in the Warm Sea Association area threatens the fauna of our country. I have a reliable source that I am his latest target." The man said seriously, and the hegin began to chuckle.
"Ah, so that's why you call him a poacher. He hunts predators, right?" The younger one asked, and received a nod from the president in response. "So you were going to set a trap for him during your visit to the volcanology center, right" He asked, and when he received another approving nod, he smiled broadly. "Perfect! Then you will take us to the volcanology center tomorrow!" Teveli declared, which made the predator blink at him, as if he did not want to believe what he was seeing.
"Excuse me, sir, but I do not understand this." He finally blurted out, when he realized that if he did not ask for clarification, the then the young man sitting in his window won't say anything more.
"The details are none of your business." Teveli's face grew serious. "It's enough if you know that I need this kill. Try to make it seem like you can't do it alone and need help." He said as he pulled one leg up onto the windowsill to support his arm.
"Yes, sir!" Mittar pulled himself up. "I guess you want me to ask Mukei Vietryk for help, right?" The Warm Sea President asked the next question, whereupon Teveli laughed.
"I knew that's why I like you, Mullen. You always follow my train of thought so well." The hegin boy chuckled. "I told them you'd be the best here, but they wouldn't believe me." He shook his head resignedly. "Well, now they'll find out." He finally shrugged before standing on the windowsill. "Then I'll leave the details to you. When the time comes, ask Mukei to help, then leave the rest to me." He gave the orders.
"It will be as you wish, sir." The president said in a measured voice, to which he received a nod in response.
"See you in the morning." Teveli said his goodbyes before jumping out the window to disappear into the night that covered Deadworld Trench, becoming one with the shadows.
Mittar stood in his office for a long moment, staring motionless at the open window, before taking a deep breath and closing it. Then he picked up his keys from his desk and, locking his office, set off to find Kiwa. The night was short, but the two men still had a lot to do. They have to restore an entire canceled plan and all this just because their leader had a new idea in his game, but what can be done, they have to do what they have to do.
