It was a cool autumn day. As I stood behind the counter of my café, the gentle clinking of cups and soft chatter of patrons surrounded me. The comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked pastries wafted through the air, but my attention was drawn elsewhere.
I glanced around, taking in the sight of families gathered at the tables, laughter and joy spilling from their corners.
Moms and dads sat together, sharing knowing smiles as they watched their children play or sip on hot chocolate. There were new couples, their excitement palpable, and couples with teenagers who seemed slightly embarrassed to be seen with their parents. In another corner, grown children enjoyed lunch with their parents, reminiscing and sharing stories. The warmth of their interactions painted a beautiful picture of togetherness and love.
I bit my lower lip and clenched my fists softly.
