Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9 KERBEL FOREST

Ancient Empire Calendar Year 1803

The Kerbel Forest was a leafless, extremely dark, and ominous forest. It hosted a dark aura and dangerous creatures invisible to the naked eye.

It contained many deadly monsters, animals, and insect species where the slightest mistake could cause your death.

The soldiers walked carefully and with steady steps.

The unit consisted of 176 people, all of whom were high-tier soldiers. The soldiers in the unit were of different ranks.

There were 100 low-tier, 50 mid-tier, and 26 high-tier soldiers — a total of 176 high-tier warriors.

There were no mages in the group because the forest's dense miasma neutralized the power of spells.

Just as this was being said, a pair of yellow eyes piercing the darkness like an arrow caught attention.

"This is a Yezdik dog."

Yezdik dogs are extremely dangerous, cunning, and disgusting creatures. They are the symbol of treachery, polytheism, and bastardry.

They are the only living species not used on the emblems of Dynasties on the continent.

One of the soldiers stepped forward.

"My Lord, allow me to take this dog's head. The blood of this disgusting, cursed creature must not stain your hands."

However, the large, scary man at the head of the group touched his soldier's shoulder and gently pushed him back.

"No, I will make this dog whimper."

The Yezdik dog leaped at the huge man standing before him.

This monster, with only its eyes visible, opened its mouth wide as if to swallow the giant before it in one bite.

Its disgusting and nauseating mouth structure was so repulsive that it would make anyone who saw it vomit.

The dog's opponent drew his sword, larger than himself, and transferred his dark blood-red noble aura to his sword and eyes.

He saw the dog's body and weak points but aimed directly for its neck, swinging his sword with terrifying speed.

The sword's blood-red aura illuminated the pitch-black darkness in the air it cut through, even if only for a brief moment.

The dog's severed head and body crashed to the ground, but the soldiers showed no reaction at all — they were very accustomed to such situations.

The large-built man turned to his soldiers and spoke.

"We continue advancing. We will not stop until our supplies are exhausted."

The soldiers, in a low tone so as not to attract the monsters' attention, said,

"Yes, my Lord."

The inhabitants of Kerbel were creatures that reacted to the slightest sound.

Here, the eye could not see the eye, so all creatures had developed ears that could hear everything from one end of the forest to the other.

The monsters in the forest did not leave their territory except to hunt; they hunted only once a day and mated with monsters from neighboring territories.

There was no specific mating season, so the monster population in Kerbel grew very quickly.

Few people knew why this forest was like this, because it was a secret that the Kislaveins stubbornly kept.

The Dynasty Lord of Kislavein would raid Kerbel at least once a month, killing all the monsters he encountered until his supplies ran out.

IV Orsman, the Dynasty Lord of Kislavein, would go on each raid with a personal guard of several hundred high-tier warriors and return a week later with monster corpses.

These corpses belonged to Kislavein researchers who were interested in dark magic, alchemy, and curses.

These corpses were valuable materials for the researchers.

They were used to create deadly poisons, curses, and talismans that could be used both in assassinations and in battles.

Thanks to this, this troublesome forest had been transformed into a valuable mine.

At the end of one week, IV Orsman and his soldiers were preparing to return.

At that moment, a danger was approaching that would cause several monsters hiding from Orsman's wrath to bolt from their hiding places and shake the ground.

This dangerous monster was the Tyrant. It was a chimera that stood 10 meters tall, intimidating with its enormous width and bulk.

Every part of its body contained parts from different monsters.

IV Orsman, with his back turned, gave the order to his soldiers.

"I will fight him. No one interfere."

The soldiers objected.

"My Lord, the Tyrant is far too dangerous a being for anyone to fight one-on-one."

Orsman repeated his order in an angry and loud tone.

"Soldier, how dare you disobey my order? If I say no one will interfere, no one will interfere."

At that very moment, the Tyrant attacked.

Holding a giant tree in its enormous hands, as if taking revenge for the monsters that had been subjected to genocide by the Kislavein warriors in the forest, it struck Orsman hard.

The force of the attack was so intense that the surrounding trees were uprooted and thrown into the air, but the attack failed.

Orsman not only fended off the Tyrant's attack, but also cut through the tree and then the Tyrant's hand with his giant sword.

"The Ruler of Kerbel, the Tyrant, is not as powerful as they exaggerate. Truly disappointing."

With pain and anger, the Tyrant punched Orsman with its other hand at incredible speed.

Orsman protected his body with his aura and escaped the attack without even a nosebleed.

Then, he directed his mana to his feet to increase his speed, attacked the monster's feet, and gathered his aura in his sword.

Using his aura-shaping technique, he tripled the size of his sword and severed the Tyrant's feet in a single move.

The Tyrant lost its balance and fell to the ground.

Orsman leaped into the sky with his jumping spell, focused his aura again on his sword, increased its size to 10 meters, and then sliced the Tyrant in half.

The soldiers were speechless with astonishment.

One soldier, shocked and amazed, said,

"Our incredible Lord defeated the Tyrant all by himself."

Another soldier, besides admiration, felt a sense of wonder fill his mind.

"If our Lord can defeat the Tyrant all by himself, can't he also kill all the monsters in Kerbel Forest by himself?"

One of the ranked soldiers heard this question and decided to answer.

"Of course our Lord could do it if he wanted to, but where has it ever been seen a Dynasty Lord carrying corpses, you idiot?"

After the commander's answer, the soldier bowed his head slightly in shame, while the other soldiers kept their mouths shut and watched their Lord approaching them.

As a result of this raid, the ruler of Kerbel Forest, considered its most fearsome monster — the Tyrant — was killed by a single man, the 65th Lord of the Kislavein Dynasty, IV Orsman.

The Kislaveins obtained great loot that they had not been able to acquire in any of the dozens of previous raids — the body of a Tyrant, even if it was torn to pieces — and Orsman added another title to his many titles: The Tyrant Slayer.
