Chapter 32 - Ch. I — Act 32 : Before it All

"ehehe..!" - The kid waved!

Catching Jankor off guard a little. Such a tiny wave of the boy's palm was enough to make him realize, but the purity behind his smile was the final knockout hit for Jankor's ponderous heart.

He simply smiled back and reciprocated the gesture, before whispering and leaning back on the bench.

"The most privileged, indeed complain the most. huh?"

————

"Fire away, Executive!" - Foryan smirked as she saw the determination return on porcelain-like, sunkissed skin of the young lass.

Yenna's eyebrows softly furrowed as the events from the cellar echoed inside of her head like a whirlwind of needles, which caused her to downcast her gaze a little before steadying it once more:

"Sir Hamilvan was—"

"Shh. I Almost Forgot."

But before the lass could continue on her report, Foryan extended out her index finger before releasing a soft hush.

"Breath of Drudaka;

Vibra Resona." - Foryan's voice quickly resonated throughout the tent as a circular, glowing wave-like apparition emanated from her erected index finger that proliferated on the walls of the tent.

"erm..huh..?" - The lass glanced at the wave dancing on the walls before gradually dissipating with a sweat sliding off her cheek.

"wha..what was that for..mi—si..sis Foryan..?"

- Yenna's eyes quickly filled up with confusion to which Foryan simply smiled at after dimissively waving her hand.

"Just a little..privacy for us two. Can't be too.." - As she trailed off, Foryan's eyes slowly went over to the right before stealing a glance at.. nothing? There appeared to be no silhouette beyond the spotlessly, white wall of the tent yet the solemnity present on her eyes was way too profound to be dismissed as a childish joke.

Yenna found herself taking a glance at the area where the Female commander was also focusing at, though she saw and felt no presence, her gut continued to remained on edge as she stood there; saluting.

"—..Careful nowadays." - Foryan continued in a soft whisper before she diverted back her attention from it and towards the jittery lass—

"Anyway, continue." Before exuding out a smile.

Outside of the tent however, despite the illuminating power of the rising sun there stood an obscured figure that appeared to be transparent leaning on the spotlessly white walls. The figure continued to silently loom beside the tent as more and more militias passed by him without ever noticing his presence.

Hearing the voices inside of the tent die down; the figure simply raised its head before releasing a soft click of tongue and finally dissipating unto the air.

Hearing Foryan's consolation; Yenna nodded before once again opening her mouth.

"It..appears as if Sir Sanum Bal Osidal The Second.. was the one behind the entire dispute between Sir Hamilvan..and the Assailant.." - Yenna's eyes darts away as she started to tap her index fingers together.

"Yes go on." - Foryan began to cross her arms as she released a soft sigh that signalled an everyday exasperation.

"Aren't..aren't you surprised in the slightest?" - The lass inquired to which the Commander heaved another exhale.

"To be honest, I somewhat expected that man to be behind the entire dispute." - The female commander stated as she closed her eyes.

"..wh-why is that..?"

Foryan opened her eyes again and pondered for a few moments before opening her mouth.

"Well..I just noticed the signs, I suppose.."

Under the scorching heat of the sun, there remained a stationary Hamilvan standing on top of the fortified wood balancing his silvery boots on the tip of the pointy trunk, gazing ever so silently on the horizon that bared an array of still, gray clouds looming over the land.

"Captain..!" - A young woman called out to him from beneath. "How long are you gonna stand there for?"

"As long as it takes..

Foryan." - Hamilvan responded with eyes still focused in the distance.

Foryan blinked before she internally whispered;

"..he..knows my name..?"

Which was quickly dismissed with an eyebrow ascending slightly as she continued to stare at the unmoving figure.

"It's hot out..! And you are fully armoured..! Did you even eat..!?" - The young woman shouted in response.

"Go on without me." - With a low tone did the Male Commander responded, causing the young woman's eyes to falter for a little bit.

"Sir.. Ignaras and Sir Bakzeu wants you to join.." - Foryan's smile slowly seeped in as her tone lightened. -

"They said the food tastes better if you're there."

After a long minute of silence Foryan's stature slouched as her face became slightly saddened; she then muttered out a soft; "Figures.." - before turning around, only to be stopped by—

"Wait for me." - The figure's piercing response which caused her to stop and look back.

"I'm a bit famished, as well."

-

Under the gloominess of the starless night there bowed a jagged, wounded and bleeding Hamilvan before a fuming Sanum while they were surrounded by a bunch of injured militias, tattered medical officers, bodybags and even covered corpses.

"Your Incompetence caused yet another disaster..!!"

*Slap!*

Hamilvan's cheek and the leftover blood was pushed to the side after the slap; but instead of retaliation, The bowing commander simply muttered out a soft;

"Apologies, Sir Sanum.. This was my doing."

"Apologies..!? Are you making fun of me you stupid little shit..!? I will allow you to apologize for a thousand times if only those words of yours can resurrect all of the fallen family members because of your reckless decisions..!!"

*Smack!*

Sanum's clenched fist came accelerating down on Hamilvan's head which caused no visible flinching of the young Commander, despite the fist reopening a large scar on the back of his head.

Foryan, whom remained in a tattered robe while her exposed skin was filled to the brim with bruises continued to expend her remaining Aetherna sources healing the injuries of other soldiers; her face softening into a quiet sadness as she saw Hamilvan being abused by their supposed—

"Saviour huh?" - A masculine voice muttered beside the lady catching her off guard;

"A saviour of Azulunu.. nay, a Saviour of his Ego." - One more chimed in, this time with a little playfulness etched unto his response.

"You tired already, Ignaras?" - The same masculine voice inquired, which the one with cheerfulness attached to it replied with a scoff and wave of his loose hand.

"Don't lump me in with a nerd like you, Bakzeu." - The voice cackled softly for a second before his face quicky transitioned into a solemn disposition.

"No seriously, don't lump me in with you."

Which Bakzeu just released an audible sigh at before shaking both their heads, Bakzeu's shake was of exasperation while Ignaras'es was of soft accomplishment.

"..You guys.." - Foryan looked back with curious eyes as a Lean, tall muscular man with slick-back hair towered over her beside a relatively shorter, hooded-young man whose cape long ripped apart; both looked as if they bathed in a swimming pool of blades and mud, the redness of their wounds and the dirt of their skin was the main standout for the both of them.

"Oh?"

"Hm?"

"Hey..yo..?"

"Hey yo..? Are you saying Hello?"

"ARE YOU NO SPEAKETH HUMAN TONGUE."

"Ignaras stop."

"Erm.. I'm..Foryan Klapfon.. Fourth Division Commander.."

With Foryan's statement, both of their eyes quickly lit up before they leaned over to her with sparkly irises.

"Oohhh...! A new commander huh?"

"Never thought the medical division would be assigned or rather.. willingly elect a leader.. I thought Medical Officers work collectively?"

"Well..I was just recently been given the position.." - Foryan replied while hovering her hands above a set of deep, gouged out wounds.

"Recently huh...I do faintly remember you appearing a few..months ago..And you were promoted so quickly.. a bit sketchy if you ask me." -

"..!!"

Bakzeu scratched his head as he leaned in on Foryan who flinched upon hearing his words.

"What makes you that good exactly?" - He inquired, leaning in on the Foryan who failed to meet his studious gaze.

A sweat slid off her cheek as she stammered out a response;

"We-..Well.."

Just then; Foryan's hands which hovered over the injured militia's wounds began to radiate out a circular glow where sparkles with a striking emerald colouration began to be showered on the bruises which..

*Seeeeepp...*

caused the openings to gradually close unto themselves before leaving a visible brown birthmark which bared the same shape of the wound.

Upon seeing such a sight, Bakzeu's eyes quickly widened as it radiated little sparkles of light which

reflected the green glow of the Female Commander's hand, his jaw hanged open, probably even more than the Ignaras who knew none about Magic beside him who mimicked his surprised countenance.

"I can do.. this I guess."

- Foryan nonchalantly replied as she continued to hover her hand above the wounds which allowed the green-coloured sparkles falling from her palms to enter the openings and eventually seal them in a span of a few seconds.

While Bakzeu just loomed over her and the injured Militia whom was previously writhing in pain now falling into a restful slumber upon the alleviation of his wounds. Bakzeu's face quickly went pale as he struggled to form even a single cohesive sentence to rationalize the sheer sight he's witnessing, as if saying; "this woman's magic is magic!" would be the only logical way to describe the display of her abilities.

"Ho..how..how in...the world.." - Bakzeu muttered while Ignaras just loomed in with his face glowing with an expression that said; "I know nothing about this but it looks cool."

Then, Bakzeu heaved a cough to recompose himself before glancing towards a cautious Foryan who flinched upon his sudden locking of gazes.

"Wa..was that really healing magic just now..?"

- He inquired, which gained him a brief pause and an eventual whisper-like response from the woman;

"Ye..yes."

Then Bakzeu calmly closed his eyes before grasping his head in a brief moment of ponder.

"ugh.." - He groaned, before he looked over to Foryan again with solemnity written all over his expression.

"What was your name..?"

"..Fo..Foryan Klapfon.."

"Foryan..In all my years as a Meisterate Scholar, never once have I seen a magical ability heal..wounds this fast...no..not in my entire stay of the Imperial Academy..!" - Bakzeu exclaimed, earning him a jolt from the woman and an empty stare from Ignaras.

"...Th..thanks.."

Foryan responded, allowing a momentary silence to befall upon them before Bakzeu opened his mouth once more to speak.

"And don't take this the wrong way."

"But, as much as possible..

you should hide it."
