(What is this for huh?! Well… You know… if you know.)
….
The Guardians of the Globe returned to their newly cleared headquarters, fresh from a clash with the Lizard League, and calling that fight "hard" would've been laughably off the mark.
It was a cakewalk, pure and simple. Gojo had swept through the low-level grunts like they were paper, unleashing Blue to yank them into a crushed, writhing heap in seconds.
The Lizard League's big-mouthed leader? Let's just say he didn't fare much better, Gojo's casual flick of Red had sent him scrambling, tail between his legs, before he slipped away in the chaos.
The team strolled into the headquarters, a sleek, high-tech hub still smelling faintly of fresh paint, their boots echoing on the polished floor.
Gojo led the way, strutting in like Michael Jackson hitting the stage, head tilted, sunglasses glinting, hands snapping in a playful rhythm.
Monster Girl followed, clapping with a grin, her kid-sized frame bouncing with energy. The two had become tight, best buddies forged in the fire of Gojo's wild rants and her sharp wit.
Their vibe was electric, like they'd been pulling off stunts together for years.
Dupli-Kate, Atom Eve, Shrinking Rae, and Bulletproof trailed behind, chuckling at Gojo's theatrics, while Black Samson lagged at the back, his usual scowl softened just a bit by the win.
Gojo spun on his heel, pointing at Monster Girl with a big grin. "Yo, Monster Girl, did you see my poses out there?" he said, voice buzzing with excitement.
"When I saved that bus from smashing into the building, man, I was flying! Felt like I was spinning a CD, just vibing!" He mimicked a DJ scratching a record, hands waving in the air, then laughed.
"Bet I'm already blowing up on Twitter or YouTube. Someone had to have recorded that, probably got a million views by now, if you ask me."
Monster Girl cackled, giving him a playful shove. "Oh, please, you were showing off the whole time! But yeah, that bus save was slick, I'll give you that." She mimicked his pose, striking a dramatic stance, and the others snorted, the headquarters filling with easy laughter.
Gojo's grin didn't fade as he turned to Shrinking Rae, pointing at her like she'd stolen the show. "And you, that was straight-up diabolical!" he said, barely holding back a laugh.
"Shrinking down, zipping into that lizard guy's mouth, then, boom, popping out like some superhero grand entrance? I'm still dying over it. And the face you made when you realized you had his intestine stuck in your hair? Priceless!" He doubled over, clutching his stomach, his laughter echoing off the walls.
Monster Girl lost it, her giggles turning into full-on belly laughs, her tiny hands slapping her knees. "Oh my gosh, Rae, you looked like you were gonna puke!" she wheezed, wiping a tear from her eye.
Shrinking Rae shrugged, her cheeks pink but a shy grin creeping out. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up," she said, brushing her hair like she could still feel the goo.
"I hate that trick, honestly, no matter how many times I do it, crawling through gross stuff never gets fun. But it works, so whatever." She sighed, then added, "Too bad their leader got away, though. Slipped out while we were mopping up his grunts."
Robot stepped forward, his metal frame gleaming under the headquarters' lights, his calm voice cutting through the chatter.
"The performance was commendable," he said, his glowing eyes scanning the team. "No casualties occurred after our arrival. The six or seven individuals with minor injuries were promptly transported to a hospital for evaluation.
Our response was effective, with property damage kept moderate, comparable to other superhero engagements with the Lizard League, but well below their usual chaos. Well done."
Gojo was grinning, arm slung around Monster Girl's shoulders while bending to her short stature, while the others, Atom Eve, Dupli-Kate, Shrinking Rae, and Bulletproof, shared laughs about the fight. Robot stood nearby, his calm presence grounding the group as he nodded at their success.
Monster Girl piped up, her kid-sized frame practically bouncing with excitement.
"Man, that was quite the show out there," she said, grinning wide. "To be honest, I was super nervous going in, y'know? Like, we're Guardians now, so I thought it'd be all grim and serious. But after today? This team's alright. And we saved a ton of people, no injuries, pretty awesome!"
Atom Eve nodded, leaning against a console, her sundae from earlier replaced by a water bottle she sipped thoughtfully.
"You're right," she said, her voice warm but firm. "I thought the same, like we'd be all stiff and formal. But we nailed it out there. Robot's clear orders made it smooth, and Dupli-Kate, you did really good with the evacuation, clearing people out so we could fight without worrying about anyone getting hurt." She glanced at Gojo, a small smile breaking through.
"And thanks to you, Gojo, for that mud-and-glue trick to slow the lizards down. Stuck 'em in place, kept the damage low. I don't know why I never thought of using my powers like that, mixing stuff to trap them. Smart move."
'Because you are stupid… thought about that maybe.' Gojo waved a hand, his sunglasses glinting as he flashed a cocky grin.
"Just doing my thing, Eve. Gotta keep it creative, y'know?" He mimicked tossing a disc like a DJ again, making Rae giggle.
Before anyone could add more, Black Samson's heavy steps cut through the mood, his scowl back in full force as he loomed near the group.
He'd been quiet, stewing, but now he spoke, his deep voice sharp with frustration.
"You're all laughing like this is some third-rate hero squad," he said, glaring at Gojo, then the others. "We're the Guardians of the Globe, the biggest superhero team on the planet. And you're treating it like a damn party, cracking jokes, acting like kids. This isn't a playground." His eyes locked on Gojo, narrowing.
"Especially you, Gojo. You weren't even listening to orders out there, just doing whatever you felt like. Yeah, you saved that bus, but you've gotta follow the plan, act serious in a fight, not play around like it's a game."
The room went quiet, the team's easy vibe snuffed out. Monster Girl frowned, crossing her arms, while Eve raised an eyebrow, caught off guard.
Dupli-Kate shifted, her clone flickering into view for a second before vanishing, like she was itching to say something.
Rae looked down, picking at her gloves, and Robot's glowing eyes flicked to Samson, processing the outburst.
Gojo just tilted his head, his grin fading to a small, amused smirk, like he was sizing up a grumpy teacher.
Bulletproof stepped forward, his easygoing vibe cutting the tension as he clapped a hand on Samson's shoulder. "Chill out, man," he said, voice calm but firm.
"We did great out there, no casualties, minimal damage. Why's it matter how we did it? We don't have to be stone-faced every fight. Loosen up a bit." His smile was friendly, trying to dial things back.
Samson's glare snapped to Bulletproof, his voice dropping to a cold, hard edge. "Get your hand off my shoulder unless you want it broken," he said, each word like a warning shot.
Bulletproof's smile faltered, and he pulled his hand back, raising both in a peace gesture. "Alright, alright, chill, man," he said, shaking his head. "What's with the grumpy mood? We won, take the W."
Samson didn't answer. He turned, his heavy boots thudding as he stalked off to a quieter corner of the headquarters, away from the team's chatter.
His broad shoulders were tense, his fists clenched, and it was clear Gojo's freelancing during the Lizard League fight had struck a nerve.
Samson was all about control, discipline, and Gojo, ignoring orders, saving the day with a flashy bus catch and a grin, had bruised his ego.
'Guy's got a problem with how others fight now,' Gojo thought, watching him go, his smirk returning.
Eve broke the silence, clearing her throat. "Well, that was… intense, but really what is that guy's problem?!" she said, glancing at the team.
"Guy got something up his muscles I think."
….
The scene shifted to a quiet alley beside a local high-rise, high building and on top of that building atood two guys while one was slimmer the other was a build up guy with tough muscles.
One was a hood guy with his hand in his pocket, while the other was a hero in a costume which consists black and yellow with goggles on his eyes.
The hero shifted his weight, glancing at the hooded guy. "So, the plan's what? We break into the penthouse, grab Machine Head, and then… what?" His voice was sharp, eager but wary, like he was half-expecting a catch.
The hooded guy leaned against the wall, his tone calm but firm, like he'd run this play before. "Don't you have someone, some contact, who can take him off the streets for good once we've got him?" he asked, his eyes glinting under the hood, watching the hero closely.
The hero rubbed his chin, thinking fast. "Hmm… yeah, I can take him to the Global Defense Agency," he said, nodding slowly. "They've got the setup to lock guys like him down tight."
The hooded guy's lips curled into a small, approving smile, barely visible in the dim light. "See? You're already doing good… Hero," he said, his voice carrying a teasing edge, like he knew the word would hit a nerve.
The hero's face fell, his lips tightening as a memory flickered, something heavy, something personal. He looked at the hooded guy, his voice softer now, cautious. "That was your daughter, right? Back at the Blackwell Community Center? What's her name?"
The hooded guy's head dipped, just a fraction, his shoulders slumping as if the question carried weight. "Fiona," he answered, his tone quiet, almost fragile, like saying her name opened a wound.
The hero nodded, pressing gently. "You guys go there a lot?" he asked, his eyes searching the other man's face.
The hooded guy turned his head, meeting the hero's gaze, his voice tinged with sadness. "It's her second home," he said, the words heavy, like they carried years of struggle and love. The alley went silent for a moment, the city's hum fading as their shared understanding hung between them.
The hero straightened, a decision settling in his chest. He flashed a quick smile, his tone firm but warm. "Alright, I'm in," he said. "But we gotta make this quick. I've got plans later tonight."
The hooded guy nodded, his own smile returning, sharper now, focused.
