Chapter 36 - Birthday Party

It was Sil's birthday— a few days after he and Vicky had their fight.

The Blade's knew about his birthday, and a few of them came over to the Green mansion; which included Pai, Shiro, Raten, Vorden, and Borden. The location of the party took place in one of the large living rooms of the Green mansion in the center of the structure itself. The walls had a large stoney texture to them while the floors were a dark oak wood. A skylight brought in some natural sunlight, giving the place a nice warm and welcoming energy to it.

Sil and Vicky were on better terms now, and there wasn't any hint of bad blood between the two of them.

Sil wore something casual, wearing a dark green jacket, and a sea green shirt, his usual outfit. Vicky, on the other hand, wore a purple raccoon onesie, and bought a spare for Sil since he didn't catch the memo.

They were chatting about random things at the party near the punch table.

"How did you get that strong anyways?" Sil asked Vicky.

Vicky scratched the back of her head, slightly bashful, "Oh you know, I like to fight against Logan sometimes."

Sil wasn't convinced, "There's no way it's just Logan."

Vicky sighed, "Okay, I sometimes like to fight against demon tier beasts."

Sil spat out his drink, "LIKE to fight against demon tiers!? You do that for fun???"

Vicky chuckled, "Well yeah? What else am I going to do all day? Playing COD can get boring after a while."

"What?! Didn't Logan reboot that game for you!?"

"And I love him for it, but that doesn't mean that's the only thing I'm going to do."

Borden walked over to the two of them, he wore a custom black and white suit that accommodated his back spikes. He also had his hair tied back. This was his usual outfit whenever there was a vaguely formal event. It was meant to be a casual event and he could dress how he wanted, but Borden spent a lot of money on his suit, and was going to use any excuse to show it off.

"What are we talking about over here?" Borden asked.

"Our sister is fighting demon tier beasts for FUN!" Sil gestured to Vicky, who just scratched the back of her head, "I don't even do that!"

"Come on, that's nothing compared to you Sil, you fight gods on the regular."

"Okay, yeah, but that's different," Sil rolled his eyes, "fighting celestials is for the sake of the future of humanity and the blades, it's a necessity."

"I'm made out of a demon tier beast." Borden asked matter of factly, "fighting them is nothing."

"Seriously? You too?" Sil looked at them flabbergasted, "Since when did you all get so strong?"

"Maybe it's a blade thing." Vicky rhetorically asked.

It was then that a blue narwhal onesie wearing Shiro butted into the conversation, "We don't, and although I'm not a blade, Raten and Vorden are."

"Shiro," Sil cleared his throat, and looked to him with sincerity, "With what you've done for our family, you're an honorary blade."

Shiro looked a little off to the side, and chuckled a little, "I suppose that's true… I could be off fighting demon tier beasts for fun, but you know how busy I am."

"What about Pai?" Borden asked.

"I'll go ask him." Vicky responded before handing Sil his onesie, and trotting off to get Pai.

There was a bathroom that Vicky cautiously took a peek in as it was unlocked, and there was Pai, wearing a green otter onesie, smoking a hot sauce styled bong hotboxing the place.

"Pai, do you fight demon tier beasts?" Vicky asked.

"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…" Pai mumbled for a good few seconds, "...no?"

Vicky then closed the door and walked back to the conversing group, "He said no."

"So it isn't a blade thing, got it." Sil responded.

"Does he do anything aside from smoking weed?" Vorden asked, "It's like the moment he found out what it was, he made it his life."

"Yes, he also uses the bathroom." Vicky then quickly added, "Oh! And baking brownies."

Vorden was only able to give a slightly disappointed look at Vicky before Raten forcefully took over, and blurted out "I want to fight demon tier beasts but I'm stuck with these two idiots!"

"If you did that then we'd freaking DIE, Raten." Vorden shook his head disapprovingly, as he fought for control over the seat, "I thought you'd be more cautious about what we'd fight."

"It doesn't have to be demon tiers, I miss being on the chair and fighting!" Raten argued, "I'll take anything at this point."

Everyone sorta looked at Vorden and Raten arguing in the same body. It wasn't exactly something they saw happening very often, but they knew the reason behind their actions, and watched in amusement.

"Whatever," Sil waved his hands, "Speaking of Blades, there's this thing I wanted to talk about. I was thinking of getting an orphanage at some point. Y'know, after I'm done with fighting celestials."

They all looked at Sil a little confused, not out of malice, but really because of surprise.

"Really? How come?" Vicky asked, intrigued by the idea.

"Well, I was thinking about what to do after I've done my mission, then I began thinking about what I'd like to do in life if it didn't involve fighting." Sil then looked over to Vorden with a soft smile, "I was actually inspired by you, Vorden."

Vorden looked pleasantly surprised by this response, and he looked off to the side with his own smile, "Don't mention it, but…" Vorden cleared his throat, "What does this have to do with the Blades?"

Sil's smile then turned somber as he looked down to his drink, "I know it's unrealistic to expect the Blade ship to last forever, so I was thinking that if anything happened to us, then having a backup location would be smart."

After stating his plans, he looked up to see the mood of the party turn dark. It wasn't something that he wanted to have happen, even knowing the mood of the subject he was just talking about.

"Let's not worry about that," Borden began while stretching his arms that just so happens to flex his muscles, "We're strong, strong enough to make the big 4 back in the day fear our name."

Vicky wrapped an arm around her little brother, "Let's not get caught up in the what ifs. If something happens to us, we'll face it together."

Shiro lifted his cup, "I'll drink to that."

Vicky held hers up, "Me too."

Borden put his high in the air, "As well as I, brothers."

Sil couldn't help but chuckle a little as the corners of his mouth curled up. He was finally proud of his name, and lifted his drink with all the others, "Cheers it is."

All of their drinks clinked together, and Sil thought about his time here with his family. It was certainly nice to be with them all, inviting even. It was something he hadn't had the ability to do for a hundred years. Without realizing it, Sil wanted to stay with them all on earth, or on the blade ship, it really didn't matter. He wanted to protect them.

'Maybe I could stay here.' Sil thought. He'd have to check in with the future later to see if he succeeded in his efforts.

As they brought down their cups to drink, Vicky's eyes went wide.

"Oh my god, we forgot to include Pai!" she exclaimed, and the others began to laugh.

After a while of everyone chatting, a group of servants took out a large cake with 138 candles. It was genuinely a fire hazard, but thankfully the room that the area took place in was relatively fireproof, several bots were ready to extinguish a further fire, and everyone had a water ability copied. Just in case.

They all sang happy birthday around him, which made him feel a little awkward, and after that, he did his best to blow out all the candles. Honestly, 138 candles was a lot to blow out in one go, even with qi infused in his lungs. Despite his numerous attempts to use his lungs, Sil eventually just got a wind ability and blew out the candles that way.

After that, everyone got a slice of cake, and presents were given. Vicky and Logan already got Sil a birthday gift not that long ago, so it was up to Borden, Pai and Shiro.

Borden got a massive box that when opened, revealed a small but albeit kinda cool white rock. Borden looked very proud of his gift, to which Sil just quietly took. It was the thought that counts.

Pai got a smaller box that was easily opened that revealed a green leafy substance that was unmistakably weed.

"I grew out this strain for you. One puff of this and you'll find yourself on the moon." Pai nonchalantly spoke, "This one is called 'woke up on another planet'"

Sil looked at the weed strand, it was certainly a strange gift, stranger than borden's and that was saying something.

"Uh… thanks." Sil commented as he placed it into his portal storage space and looked over to Shrio.

"Please tell me you have a normal gift." Sil pleaded.

"I think this might be too normal." Shiro looked at his box slightly disappointed, but Sil still took

Sil opened the medium sized box, and inside were a few light green decorated towels. Under normal circumstances, he'd ask why towels, but at least it wasn't weed. These would look great in his bathroom.

"Thank you, Shiro." Sil went to give him a hug, before returning to his seat.

Looking closer upon the towels he saw that they weren't plain, and had a few decorative bits to them that wouldn't sacrifice absorbability.

At the end of the gift giving, Vicky got some of her oldest vodka and tequila opened, and poured some out for everyone. Despite her offers in the past to get Sil drunk on his early birthday, he declined at the time. Sil was not much of a drinker in this fashion, the most he's ever had wasn't beyond that of 5%, but he was feeling a little experimental.

Vicky had her special vodquila concoction that was about 40% alcohol, which she drank for a "small buzz." Sill was about to drink some himself, but Vicky quickly told him to start much smaller looking to the 5-10% category. She handed him a Matt's Hard Lemonade to start him off with.

Sil and Vicky were both sitting down in the living room area corner, Vicky on a foldable chair, and Sil leaning back on the couch. Borden was next to him, and Shiro was in the kitchen. As Sil was enjoying the drink, he noticed that it was actually not that bad tasting, enjoyable even. It was a sweet and tart flavor that masked the taste of alcohol.

Sil now feared the drink a little because he could very easily drink 10 of these without realizing he's getting drunk. It genuinely tasted like a normal drink. He was right to fear it of course, because he actually did in fact drink 10 of these without noticing it, and was on his way to drink more. Vicky had to be the one to stop him after he was half way through his 13th drink and asked for his 14th glass.

"Alright big guy, I know you're a hotshot but you do gotta remember these DO have alcohol in it." Vicky scolded Sil.

"Whaaaa???" Sil cried out, "I'm like… good. I had less than like, my buddy Borden."

Due to Borden's dalki genetics, he was quite the heavy weight and surpassed Vicky's tolerance easily. He seemed perfectly fine in comparison to Sil.

"I'm not… drunk, I can count my abc's" Sil mumbled.

"Right, Sil." Vicky gave him an unconvinced look, "Go do it then, seeing that you're all confident."

"I will, gosh." Sil rolled his eyes dramatically, "A…B…C…D…E…F….J…K…L—"

"You skipped several letters there, Sil." Vicky said as she took away Sil's glass and held it away from him.

"Nooooo, my drink!" Sil began to stand up and reach towards his glass, but stumbled, and nearly fell over as he did so.

"...I might be… a LITTLE drunk."

"Uh huh, I'll get you some water."

"Better yet, let's see how drunk Sil can get." Borden said as he was about to open a new bottle of vodka.

"Yeahhhhh," Sil looked over to Vicky and pointed behind himself at Borden with his thumb, "This guy like… TOTALLY gets it."

Sil collapsed back onto the couch, clearly unable to keep himself upright.

"Shiro?!" Vicky called out, "Can you get us a water?"

"Got it!" Shiro called back.

Vicky stared at Borden, "We aren't going to do that. Sil's been through enough."

Borden raised a brow, "Since when did you get all responsible?"

Vicky began helping Sil get more comfortable on the couch, "What do you mean? I've always been responsible."

Through sleepy eyes, Sil squinted at his older sister, "What about… about… that time you told me to like… stick my dick in a blender."

Vicky chuckled. It seemed so simple back then, just chatting away at logs.

"It wasn't a blender, it was the ventilator, idiot." Vicky chimed in.

Shiro poked his head out of the kitchen, holding a cup of water, "Someone stuck their what in a blender?"

Borden began to let out a hearty laughter at hearing this, "Oh I've GOT to hear this story."

"Nooooo, don't tell 'em…." Sil mumbled as he was weakly reaching his arms out to stop Vicky, "Not my shitty love live…"

Shiro came back, and handed Sil the water. He too grabbed a foldable chair as he was curious about the story behind this.

"Well okay, maybe I'll tell you." Vicky sat upright in her chair before looking at Sil, "But we gotta start at the beginning, the chat logs. Is it alright if I tell them?"

"Hmmmm… fine, but don't tell them about him ."

"Who's 'him'?" Borden asked.

Vicky giggled, "Just Sil's crush."

"I'm over him!"

" Sure ." Raten quickly came out to make a snide comment.

Vicky then began going into the chat logs, and what they were initially for. Sil was a little embarrassed by some of the early stuff, but she was getting into a rhythm of telling the story. Vicky did have to ask Sil about some of the details she forgot about, but Borden, Shiro, Raten and Vorden all seemed intrigued. This did help provide some needed context for the conversation Shiro, Vorden and Raten had a while back with Sil.

"I can't believe you grabbed a soy sauce packet!" Raten cried out laughing at Sil.

"They're easy to get mixed up!" Sil defended.

After everything was done, they all left, and Vicky helped Sil head to his bedroom. They didn't need to worry about cleaning up since their robots and servants took care of it.

The guest bedroom was dark, but not quite the same plain room that it once was. While Sil lived at the mansion, he had moved in a little, putting his own personal touches to the place. Things were placed in ways that followed Sil's habits, he brought in some wall art to bring some color into the place, and there were orange flower decorated curtains for the window. As Sil got comfortable in his bed, and Vicky was about to leave, she took one last look at her little brother.

He seemed so peaceful, and a memory of the past flashed in her mind. Back on Blade island, when Sil was still hiding behind Vorden, he would come out a little and ask her to borrow her collection of superhero comics. She had a few saved over the years since she always wanted to see outside of the island, so she'd let him read a few so long as he brought them back.

One particular memory had stood out to her, where he had once asked her to read one of these stories to him as he slept. Little young Vicky at the time wasn't quite sure about her reading out loud skills, but given how rare it was for Sil to front at the time, she did so anyway. It was slightly embarrassing to her at the time, but looking back, it was a cherished moment.

Back to the present, Vicky smiled at the thought, and closed the door.
