Chapter 15 - A New Friend

In a bid not to forget all had happened she took out her journal and wrote down every possible detail of her day that she could remember. From her strange meeting with the elders, to Missy's cold behavior towards her and of course not forgetting the most important event of her day, her vision of the creatures at the elders gate. As she had thought most of her memories had already began to fade due to all the stress and anxiety she had to endure. She tried moving around the room in order to find comfort in one of it's cold corners but that didn't work. The room felt foreign to her and it would take sometime to get use to. She tried remembering conservations she had with the creature in order to bring his face into view but the image as she thought his face came out rather blurry like a memory that needed to be unlocked. Not all her memories ended up this way, she could remember clearly simple things that had happened to her , like hiding in the bathroom during lunch time at school to avoid meeting Lucy and Janet who always pulled at her hair in highschool. She could remember happy memories when her and aunt Missy danced under the rain, laughing and slashing water as the heavy rain poured down on them. She could remember embrassing moments like being asked on a date by her crush Lucas in tenth grade and never showing up and she could remember exactly why she came to Eldermere.

None of her daily life was ever vague to her just specific memories and dreams and just like her other special memories those of today had seemingly become distant memories to her, she could barely remember what the creature said to her at the moment. She tossed the journal to the end of the bed frustrated with herself. " What's the point of being here if I can't remember anything" she sighed slightly pulling at her hair. Every doctor they had met said that her memories would return in due course, right now she wondered how long that would actually take. Feeling hopeless at the moment she decided to arrange her stuff and prep for her next day, she took off the plain pink bed sheets replacing them with a floral print sheet with similar covers for her pillows. Just as she was done she had a knock on the door, looking over to the empty bed space it was quite clear she was yet to have a roommate. She hesitated, her eyes fixed on the door, had her little entrance with the general attracted more attention than it should have. The knock came again this time louder than before, she slowly walked to the door, her senses on full alert, with all that has happened so far you won't blame her for being careful. She opened the door narrowly just enough for her to get a good view of the person's face. " Hello neighbor" beamed a ginger curly haired girl from behind the door. Her large eyes wide open with a smile on her face. Her cheeks and corners of her eyes covered with red freckles. She tilted her head to look into the room her headphone dangling on her neck." may I come in" she said bouncing on her heels like a child high on sugar. Serena nodded opening the door wide for her to get in.

The girl walked in looking around the room as she did Serena took a good look at her. She had a petite frame with her juvenile ginger curly hair falling down her shoulders all the way to her hips with a cap barely staying on her head. She wore a dark blue shirt which clearly was five times her size and height with an equally large pair of brown shorts. " Oh wow the mystery room has finally been occupied huh, after so long " she turned " you know this room was off limits for every student,I wonder why they decided to finally give it to out". Serena just stood there quiet, she didn't know what to say or what she was meant to say. She knew if she remained quiet it was most likely that she would keep talking. " Oh silly me I'm Elsie I live next door" Elsie said, her eyes still roaming around the room. Serena gave a small nod." I'm Serena it's nice to meet you Elsie" . Elsie's eyes lit up " really for a moment I thought you found me strange usually people find me strange" she plopped herself on her freshly made sheets swinging her little legs. " Well considering this town I think I'm pretty normal I'm sure you have noticed that this town is a little bit strange" she lowered her voice slightly as if someone was listening to their conservation. " Strange that's one way to put it" Serena chuckled sitting next to her, the initial tension in her easing off, she wasn't even bothered about the bed. "It seems you have already seen somethings huh" Elsie said with a smile "little advise be careful with who you talk about the town with, not everything is as it seems here". Serena's eyes narrowed, this was the third time someone is telling her to be careful, what really is the town trying to hide. Serena nodded, her mind drifting off to the memory of the creature. Elsie hopped up suddenly. " Come on you can't just stay in here all day, there is a lot to see". Serena hesitated, she wasn't planning on walking round campus on her first day here "oh no I can't I still have to unpack but maybe some other time". " No, not another time, come on I would help you unpack there is a lot I need to show you" Elsie said persuasively. " You must be hungry right, there is this little restaurant a few miles from here they make fantastic little sandwiches you would love it" . Serena hesitated, then smiled. " Okay that sounds nice I'm really hungry". Elsie grinned," Great! Adventure and sandwiches it is". As the two girls stepped out into the hallway, the door to the room creeked closed behind them.
