Chapter 19 - Chapter 5: Second Noteworthy Occurrences (Part 3)

With this new found knowledge. I think, I finally understand this rare occasion of mine.

On the far corner of the plank made home, lies a child.

Certainly not looking well.

Putting the basket down. I walk slowly behind the lady.

"Dear... mum homes. I brough help today. I'm sure you will do much better."

The softness of her voice, with the underlying on the verge of tiers.

The bedridden child didn't react much but it understandable.

She kneel beside the bed. Wiping the face of the pale child, gently.

Suddenly I feels like the place had turn silence. Only the sound of the lady cleaning the sick child fill the room.

Now, looking back I really did put myself on a troublesome situation, because I am no doctor. Nor do I have deep understanding in medical field.

I had enter the circle of this two, hoping I can gain something. Not realising the consequences of what I had brought to myself.

Most of the time consequences is something I use to deal with, it not a problem normally if you handle it well but not this time.

Had it been something more severe or unknown to me, it might be the first time in a long while I'll come to regret my decision.

...

Thankfully, that was not the case.

As I approach the child, a familiar sense pass me.

I let out a sigh and breath in a relieve.

'You are one luck child'

Without even having to check the child condition I already knew there is still hope for her.

Placing my hand on the lady shoulder. I spoke in a confident tone.

"No need to worry dear. Your child still have hope. Lucky for you, one of my specialist is in handling curses disease and you child still can be save"

The lady turn to me, with a facial expression that can only be discribe as happiness, relieve and gratitude all at once as her eyes balling once again.

But I didn't leave much room for sentimental as my hand reaches out for the child hand.

Examining it, closing my eyes as I do so.

'Focus'

Locating, identifying and defining it.

And slowly I began to see the lingering curse inside the child body.

'This is among the worse curse one had to endure. It's entire purpose is to torture the victim till the very last breath'

I don't know how this child got this curse and why she had it because it certainly not something she's born with. Every part of her body is rejecting it existence which why her condition a lot more worse. She has been place under curse by someone.

Still in my thought the lady beside me spoke, in distress look.

"How is it doctor?"

My eyes open turning to her.

Brief silence before I answer her question.

" She can be cure... But I cannot do it right here and right now. At the moment, all I can do is slow down and lessen the curse effect before it take full root of the child life"

I stand up from the spot heading to the door behind.

"And in order to do that we need to obtain some ingredients and material. You should be grateful, all the things I require can be find here, in this city."

Before I head out I spoke to the lady again.

"Take as much time as you needed. I can gurenty you that the worse would never come"

Leaving the place, I have quite the few question in mind, that I had completely ignore the people eyeing me.

Then a sudden noise stop me on my track.

"Wait... This is about my daughter. I want to help to".

Looking back at her, there is fire of determination in her eyes.

"Follow along" I said before continuing my step. A moment later she walking beside me.

...

As we gathering everything needed one by one.

She seems to have a lot to thing in mind to said and the first didn't take long to arrive.

"... I never knew there is doctor specialising in curse disease"

" There is... Just very rare and small group, since you know how dangerest dealing with curses can be"

The second thought come along not to long after.

There is concern look in her face..she didn't manage to ask me this before but now she got the chance.

"Doctor may I ask, what is the curse doing to my daughter?"

"Well to put it simply, it torturing her. The curse is slowly eating away her five senses. She would lost her eye sight at first, hearing the second, follow up by her sense of taste and smell. With the last being her sense of touch."

" Not to mention, an unimaginable pain on every inch of her body that make any movement feels impossible. The pain will become worsened over time until she become completely paralyse while still feeling the searing pain."

I said as my eyes searching for the last couple of ingredients left.

"And if the worse come, death will claim her. Even from my own experience dealing with curses, this is among the worse kind for one to endure. I had to praise you and your daughter for having the strength to hold on but also, feels sorry. The two of had hold bear it for so long, so don't lose hope just yet"

Ending my lenghty monologue, she had a mix expression on her face.

It look like she has something more to said.

"Then, can you tell me the reason why you can't cure my daughter?"

"There is many way to cure curses, but to remove it completely is different on it own. When there is curse, there is also what we call curse husk. It different in nature. Curse husk doesn't carry the original curse but it more of remnant of curse itself. And this remnant will reduce your curse resistance, making you much easier to got another curse. In simple term, if you truthly wanted to live a completely curse free life. You need to remove both the curse and it husk, placing youself with high curse resistance. Implying you will be much harder to obtain another curse."

The lady seem somewhat confuse, but I'm sure she understand what I mean.

"Sorry for the lengthy explaination. Also, this is the last ingredient we need."

With everything needed, we make our way back.
