Chapter 6 - Weapon Creation #4

Hephaestus walked through a barren wasteland, his mind filled with ideas. With every step, the land cracked beneath his feet, its lifelessness reminding him of something crucial—he needed a forge that could move with him.

His hands clenched. His greatest works were still ahead of him, yet every time he forged, he had to halt his travels. That would no longer be the case.

Forging the Mobile Forge

Hephaestus opened the Gate of Hephaestus, summoning the materials he had gathered so far:

The heart of a dormant volcano, still pulsing with latent flame.

Aetherium ore, a rare celestial metal known to adapt to any environment.

The fragmented remains of Kronos's broken scythe, containing traces of spatial energy.

Hephaestus began crafting. The volcano's heart became the core of the forge, an ever-burning fire that would never die. Aetherium formed the outer shell, allowing the forge to change its size and shape at will. The space-infused fragments from Kronos's scythe were integrated into the design, allowing the forge to exist within the Gate of Hephaestus yet be summoned anywhere at a moment's notice.

As the final strike landed, the world trembled. The first-ever Mobile Forge was born. A weapon with countless abilities such as :

1. Summon at Will – Hephaestus can call forth his forge anywhere, allowing him to craft legendary weapons on the move.

2. Eternal Flame – Fueled by the volcanic heart, the forge never cools, always ready to shape divine artifacts.

3. Spatial Adaptation – The forge expands or contracts as needed, allowing for large-scale creations or precise craftsmanship.

4. Self-Sustaining – The forge absorbs ambient energy, reducing Hephaestus's need to gather fuel.

Hephaestus smirked as he reached out, and with a thought, his forge materialized before him.

The roaring flames, the humming energy of the divine metal—it was perfect. No longer bound to one location, he was free to create anywhere.

Taking his hammer, he stepped forward. There were still countless weapons to forge, and now, nothing could stop him.

Hephaestus walked through the vast grasslands, where the wind whispered the memories of the past. He was searching for new materials, but what he found was something far more meaningful.

At the heart of the valley, two mighty bulls lay side by side—one male, one female—their massive bodies still and lifeless. Yet, despite death, they had not decayed. Their bodies had been preserved by the wind, as if the world itself refused to let them be forgotten.

Hephaestus approached, placing his hand on their foreheads. Visions filled his mind.

The two bulls had once been inseparable. They roamed the land together, fought together, and even in death, they had never left each other's side. Their bond was unbreakable, their love eternal.

For the first time in a long while, something stirred in Hephaestus's heart.

"Even in death, you refused to be apart," he murmured. "Then I shall ensure that your legacy will never fade."

Hephaestus quickly summon his mobile forge. He treated the corpse with the respect they deserved. The bones of the bulls, infused with the power of the wind, were his primary material. Their horns, harder than any metal, became the edges of his new weapon.

The forge roared, and the flames danced as Hephaestus worked. He shaped the weapon into a double-bladed axe, each blade representing one of the bulls—male and female, strength and grace, power and speed.

The wind howled as if singing in joy, recognizing the weapon being born.

When Hephaestus struck the final blow, the air itself trembled. Labrys, the Twin Gale, was born.

Hephaestus held the Labrys in his hands, feeling the energy that pulsed through it. He knew that the twin bulls, in some way, were still together.

"You will never be forgotten," he whispered.

With a wave of his hand, the Gate of Hephaestus opened, and the Labrys floated inside, waiting for the day it would be wielded.

Hephaestus took one last look at the place where the bulls had fallen. A gentle breeze caressed his face, as if thanking him. Smiling, he continued his journey.

---

As Hephaestus wandered through the world, he sometimes glimpsed fragments of fate—echoes of what was yet to come.

One such vision showed him a warrior upon a winged steed, soaring through the skies. Below, a great beast, its body a fusion of lion, serpent, and goat, spewed fire across the land.

Hephaestus did not yet know who this warrior would be, but he understood one thing:

A battle would be fought in the heavens. And for that, a weapon must exist.

Hephaestus journeyed beyond Olympus, beyond even the lands of the Titans, to a place untouched by the world below—the highest peaks of Aether, the domain of pure sky.

There, he gathered a fragment of true Aether, a material that was neither metal nor stone, but the essence of the heavens themselves.

From this, he forged a blade lighter than air yet sharper than any edge known to gods or titans. It carried no weight, allowing its wielder to strike with the speed of the wind.

For the hilt, he sought a remnant of something long lost—a feather from the Celestial Birds, beings who once carried the morning sun before Helios and his chariot took their place.

When the weapon was complete, he whispered a blessing upon it:

"To the one who soars beyond the reach of men, to the one who defies the earth itself—this blade shall be yours."

And then, he sealed Aetherion within the Gate of Hephaestus, waiting for the day it would be claimed.

---

When the blade was completed, the heavens trembled for a bit. A new weapon had been born, and the world could feel it.

Zeus, feeling the disturbance, turned his gaze toward Hephaestus.

"You create weapons even before there are hands to wield them," Zeus mused. "Do you think you can shape fate itself?"

Hephaestus did not answer. He merely continued his work.

For he knew—the age of mortals would come. And when it did, his weapons would be ready.
