Hehehehe, can I...would I.....LiSteN tO ME

Hahahahaha!

Luthren winced from the pain he felt in his head, the words that never stopped seemed to cut unto his very being like a knife.

Yet they were just in the end words....at least for now.

He flipped the book again, skimming through its contents though at a noticeably increased pace compared to before.

" One more page " He muttered to himself forcing his eyes open as he moved his other hand which held a fire he used to illuminate his surroundings.

But the pain was too much, too real yet unreal. It felt like someone or something was trying to Crack his skull open.

Hurriedly, he closed the book before releasing a breath he didn't know he had been holding.

"Damn..." he muttered again in a dejected tone as he looked at the plain black cover of the book.

So deceiving, something with that much power hidden behind such a simply look.

" Still...progress. " He said to himself, setting the book aside before seating up.

He recalled the contents that talked about necromancy summoning and their uses. Truly if he could get his hands on that power, then their situation would definitely flip around.

He glanced to his side, not too far away lay a beast. It was still, unmoving and plain.

Blood and scars could be seen on its body if one squinted enough, it even seemed to have missing limbs too.

" I feel...alone " Luthren muttered once more, leaning back against the cold Jaggered edges of the wall as he recalled the moments after he woke up.

It was panic, a fear that his end had come for him. That was the first thing that he felt when he woke up.

However, contrary to his expectations of being eaten by some monstrous beast. He saw only a corpse...well, two actually.

At first he wanted to believed it was a dream but the more he squinted and moved closer to it, the more his memories began to click.

Yes...they were memories, he remembered them so clearly so it was not a dream.

Upon closer look, he found one of the corpse to be that of the beast he summoned.

Honestly, he was of the mind that he held no true feelings for the beast and simply wanted him for his own use and satisfaction.

But he found himself shaking at the sight...at the body of the beast. He recalls his legs feeling so weak, seemingly finally about to give in after all that pressure it had to endure.

When suddenly, upon touching its body...he realized that it was alive.

The feeling he got was...unreal to say the least. He carried the broken bleeding body upin his back, the hook tucked into his pants before dragging him away.

He took them both deeper and farther away from the corpse knowing fully well that dead bodies attract danger.

The beast- Ren hadn't woken up in over a week since then, Luthren had been scraping by eating the left over carcasses of beasts and bugs.

Once even managing to kill a little Gremlin which he unfortunately couldn't bring himself to eat.

Now, he was resting. Straining himself to read a few more pages of the book in an attempt to understand it more before finally going off for the night.

" That's all for today... " Luthren said, setting the book aside.

His mind drifting away for a bit before he turned to stare at the unconscious beast. It looked peaceful, most of the wounds healed up with his other limb almost fully grown back.

It is remarkable

He said to himself, feeling satisfied at the revelation that it had a great self healing capabilities.

Though he did wonder if it was the reason that it hadn't woken up.

Doesn't matter now, just let's rest and thinking about it when I am safe. Tomorrow we have to pass those pack of Hunters I saw earlier.

Not even sure how I'd be able to drag Ren pass them.....this might be- no bad thoughts.

Luthren began before slightly slapping himself on the cheek as his trail of thought were leading to something dark.

He sighed briefly before slowly closing his eyes, cutting the flow of vice from his hands which we maintaining the fire thereby leading to a complete darkness.

His back soon relaxed against the wall as his neck swerved slightly to the side, his last conscious thoughts becoming fleeting with time.

Suddenly he snapped back awake at the sound of a rumble, next was the clicks and turns of machinery. Echoing through the place.

It startled multiple beast, most of whom ran away with a few stronger ones remaining to watch with interest.

Luthren on the other hand began to panick as he quickly moved closer to Ren and soon mounted him on his back.

The sounds of machines still moving never stopped, loud clicking sounds breaking the once still silence of the air.

Then something unlocked, something that suddenly calmed the ancient machinery. Luthren couldn't even walk 10 steps away from his last position just to see a large door opening.

Turns out, his wall for sleeping was actually a very huge door. Almost 10x his own height, it towered over him with an air of power.

Giants

Was the first thought that came to Luthren as he looked at it, taking a huge gulp down his dry throat which only worsened the feeling.

Once the doors opened up as wide as they seemed they could, it all stopped. The noise and movements all together, leaving Luthren standing there in darkness.

The doors were glowing very dimly, so dimly that one could believe it was about to go out soon. But it never did, besides the occasionally blinking that it did.

Should I...check it?

Luthren thought, a bit curious at what it could possibly be keeping in there. He had heard of ancient hidden sites, most having survived centuries or even millenia of existence.

But he shook his head, remembering that such structures would always have things protecting it. Things strong to also guard it for so long and if this was one of them, he would no doubt die very quickly.

Maybe....maybe

He thought, having a sliver of hope that if he survived this ordeal....if he could harness the power of the book.

Then he would come out stronger than would have been possible if he remained back home.

But it was a fleeting dream of his, for now. He had to relocate as the chances of dangerous beasts coming here were high.

" Well, what do we have here. " A voice thundered behind Luthren.

He paused, feeling a cold touch upon his skin. What hair remained on his body standing up as his body screamed danger to him.

He didn't turn around, didn't say anything but just stayed still. Silently hoping- praying that this was just his mind playing games with him.

" Well, I do believe it is rude to not respond when spoken to...I am sure you heard me...Human " It said once more.

His voice breaking through any semblance of will remaining in Luthren. He didn't want to turn, he didn't want to respond.

But he knew....he could feel it...see it, that if he didn't move. He would die.

So slowly and stifly, he turned. His back slightly hunched from the weight of Ren, his view was filled with pitch blackness.

At first, he sighed in relief at the thought it was really nothing. Willing to believe that he was instead running mad and hearing voices.

But then, the occasional blinking of the light revealed something. A...shadow.

He squinted his eyes, focusing at the sight before him. When the light blinked, the darkness was pushed back like it was afraid of the light....part of it.

A part of his simply remained still, neither moving like other parts of the darkness. He at first wanted to believe it was a wall but he clearly remembered, they was no wall blocking his path.

Especially not one at large as this, his relaxed body slowly tensing up once more as he began to look up.

The towering darkness going far above his height as it stared down at him. He could make out a face...a body.

" Like what you see...human " The darkness spoke and Luthren passed out.
