Chapter 602 - First Assignment

The Boy's PO

Months of drills, blood, and sleepless nights had forged me into steel. I was no longer the boy who had begged his father for approval—I was a soldier, sharpened by B.A.M., molded under General Soren's ruthless hand, and sworn under the shadow of the Blackwood throne.

But nothing could've prepared me for the assignment I received that morning.

"Field Operator, you'll be stationed at the Ministerial Conference. Escort detail."

I saluted sharply, ready. Then the officer smirked.

"Your assigned principal—Minister Kadrin."

My chest froze. My father.

The same man who had forbidden me, who had sworn I would never wear this uniform, who had raged when the King himself pulled me into B.A.M. And now, fate had tied my first mission to him.

The conference hall towered with banners of the Empire, ministers gathering under heavy security. Armored vehicles lined the entrance, and our unit was stationed at every corner.

I stood straight in the black uniform, rifle strapped, two fellow operators flanking me. We moved as one.

And then he came. Minister Kadrin—my father. Dressed in fine robes, his face sharp, his stride heavy with pride. But when his eyes fell on me—he froze.

Shock. Then anger. Then something else, hidden behind the minister's mask.

"You." His voice was low, almost trembling.

I kept my stance, professional. "By order of the Blackwood command, I am assigned to your escort, Minister."

One of the other operators stepped in. "Sir, we are to secure your route. Please proceed."

His gaze never left me. His son. In B.A.M. uniform. Carrying a weapon. Standing guard over him.

The hall swallowed him soon after, and we followed in formation. I kept my eyes forward, but my heart was burning.

All through the conference, I could feel his tension. He tried not to look at me, but when I shifted, when I stepped in sync with my unit, when I scanned the crowd with precision—he saw. He saw the soldier I had become.

And I think, for the first time… he wasn't sure if he feared me, hated me, or was secretly proud.

But I knew this was only the beginning.
