Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:Rebirth

The warm sunlight streaming through the window cast a golden glow on the room, illuminating the intricate patterns on the walls and the plush carpet beneath. The air was thick with the scent of fresh laundry and the faint hint of last night's dinner.

Asher's eyes flattered open l,and he was met with an unfamiliar ceiling. His mind was foggy, and his memories seemed to be shrouded in a thick mist. He tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over him, forcing him back onto the pillow.

As he Lay there, he became aware of the soft hum of the air conditioner, the gentle rustle of the leaves outside, and the distance chatter of people going about their daily lives. The sounds were familiar, yet somehow distant, like a memory from a past life.

Asher's gaze wandered around the room, taking in the familiar surroundings. The room was a mess, with clothes scattered all over the floor, and books piled haphazardly on the shelves. But amidst the chaos, there was a sense of warmth and comfort, like a well worn blanket.

He spotted a photo on his nightstand, showing him and his sister, Elsie, smiling and embracing. The memory of his sister's bright smile and infectious laughter brought a pang to his chest.

Asher's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps outside his room. The door creaked open and a hesitant figure peeked inside.

"Who's there, Asher?" A soft voice called out."Is that...is that really you?"

Asher's eyes locked onto the figure, and he felt a sense of recognition, It was his sister, Elsie. But there was something different about her, something that didn't quite add up.

Elsie's eyes were wide with shock, and her face was pale. She looked like she had seen a ghost.

"Asher,how...how are you here?" Elise asked, her voice trembling." You were...you were buried a week ago"

Asher's mind was still foggy, but he knew that something was off. He tried to sit up again, but the dizziness returned, forcing him back onto the pillow.

"I...I don't know," Asher's replied,his voice weak." I just...I just woke up."

Elsie's eyes narrowed, and she took a step closer to him. "Asher what's going on? How did you get back here?"

Asher shook his head, trying the clear the cobwebs," I...I don't know, Elsie.I swear."

Elise's expression was skeptical, and Asher knew that she didn't believe him. But he couldn't blame her. He didn't know what had happened to him either.

As Elsie continued to stare at him, Asher felt a sense of uneas creepiover him. He knew that he had to tell her something, but what?

Elsie's eyes seemed to bore into Asker's soul as if searching for any sign of deception Asher tried to meet her gaze, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something, even though he wasn't sure about.

"Asher, I need to know what's going on,"Elsie said, her voice firm but laced with a hint of desperation. "You were shit, Asher.I saw you die.And now, you're just...back?"

Asher's mind was racing, trying to piece together the fragments of his memories. He remembered being shot, remember the feeling of his life slipping away. But he didn't remember anything after that.

"I...I don't know, Elsie, "Asher repeated, feeling a sense of frustration wash over him. "I swear, I don't remember anything."

Elsie's expression softened slightly, and she took a step closer to him." Asher , I believe you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I need to know what's going on.Who brought you here? How? And why?"

Asher shook his head, feeling a sense of helplessness wash over him." I don't know, Elsie, I really don't."

Elsie's eyes narrowed, and she took another step closer to him."Asher, I'm going to find out what's going on," she said, her voice firm." And I'm going to make sure that whoever brought you back here pays for what they've done."

Asher felt a shiver run down his spine as he met Elsie gaze.He knew that his sister was caoayof great things, but he also knew that she fiercely protective of those she cared about. And right now, she was focused on him.

As Elsie continued to stare at him, Asher felt a sense of uneas creeping over him. He knew that he had to tell her something, but what ?

Suddenly, Elsie's expression changed, Asher felt the feeling of unease yet again creeping over him. He knew deep down that he had to tell her something but what?

Suddenly, Elsie's expression changed, and she looked away from him." I'll go get you some water," she said, her voice softer." You must be thirsty."

Asher nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. As Elsie left the room, he let out a deep breath and tried to process everything that had happened.

He was back, but he didn't know how. And Elsie was determined to find out.

As Asher lay there, he couldn't shake the feeling that his life was about to change in ways he couldn't imagine.

As Elsie left the room, Asher took a few breath and tried to sit up again. This time, the dizziness was less intense and he managed to prop himself up against the headboard.

He looked around the room, taking in the familiar surroundings, Everything was just as he had left it, from the messy desk to the pile of dirty laundry in the corner.

But something felt off.

Asher couldn't quite put his finger on it, but the room seemed different. The shadow seemed longer, the air seemed thicker, and the silence seemed more oppressive.

He shook his head, trying to clear the cobwebs. He must be imagining things.

Just then, Elise returned with a glass of water. " Here, Asher, drink this," she said, handing him the glass.

Asher took a sip, feeling the cool liquid soothe his parched throat. As he handed the glass back to Elsie, he noticed something strange.

"They coming for you."

Asher's heart skipped a beat as he starred at the note. Who wrote this? And what did they mean ?

He looked up at Elsie, but she seemed oblivious to the note."Elise, what's going on?" Asher asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

Elise frowned, confusion etched on her face." What do you mean, Asher? You're the one who's been... gone."

Asher's eyes locked onto the note again." I mean, who wrote this?" he asked his voice barely above a whisper.

Elisie followed his gaze, and her eyes widened as she saw the note" I...I don't know," she stammers.

Asher's mind was racing. Who wrote this note? And what did they want from him?

As he looked at Elsie, he saw the fear and uncertainty etched on her face. He knew that he had to protect her,no matter what.

But how?

"Elsie's eyes narrowed, and she took a step closer to him, "What is it, Asher?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Asher hesitated, unsure of how to reveal the truth. But he knew that he to tell her something.

"I don't know what happened to me," Asher said, his voice shaking slightly. " I don't know how I got back here. But I do know that something's off."

Elsie's eyes widened, and she took another step closer to him" what do you mean?" She asked, he voice filled with concern.

Asher glanced around the room, making sense they were alone." I mean, I don't feel right," he said, his voice barely above a whisper." I feel like...like something's watching me." Elsie's face paled, and she took a step back." Asher, don't say that" she said, her voice shaking. " You're just tired. You need to rest."

Asher shook his head, feeling a sense of frustration. "Look, Elsie, listen to me," he said, his voice firm." I'm telling you something's off. And I need to figure out what it is."

Elsie's eyes looked onto his, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Then, without saying a word, Elsie turned and walked out of the room.

Asher watched her go, feeling a sense of unease. What was going on? And why was Elsie acting so strangely?

As he lay there, trying to make sense of everything.Asher heard a faint noise coming from outside the room. It sounded like footsteps, light and cautious, as if someone was trying not to be heard.

Asher's heart skipped a beat as he realised that someone - or something was coming for him

Asher's eyes locked onto the door, his heart racing with anticipation.Who - or what - was on the other side?

The footsteps grew louder, and Asher could sense a presence hovering just outside the room. He felt a shiver run down his spine as the door creaked open, slowly, as if pushed by an invisible hand.

A figure slipped inside, standing at a height of 6'2(188 cm), with broad shoulders, muscular but not overly bulky - built like someone who could throw a punch and take one without flinching.

The figure closed the door behind them. Asher's eyes adjusted to the dim light, and he saw a familiar face - Adam, his best friend.

Adam's eyes locked onto Asher's, and he smiled, relief etched on his face. "Asher, man, you're... you're back," Adam said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Asher's eyes narrowed, confusion, etched on his face, " Adam what's going on?" Asher asked his voice firm." How did I get here?"

Adam hesitated, glancing around the room nervously, " I...I don't know, Asher," Adam said, his voice hesitant. " I just found you here, in your room, I thought.. I thought you were dead."

Asher's eyes widened, shock etched on his face "Dead, this again why do you guys think I died, I'm right here aren't I"

Adam took a step closer, his eyes locked onto Asher's " you were shit, Asher," Adam said, his voice barely annoys whisper." I saw it happen. You...you died in my arms."

Asher's world went dark.
