As the two walked into the inn, Hamar shouted out, "Here on Uncle Wang's recommendation?"
They stepped in and waited for a response and to a normal person they wouldn't be able to tell anyone was here. But to Yan and Hamar it was obvious; Hamar had enhanced senses and could hear hushed breathing clearly. Yan similarly had enhanced senses and additional metaphysical sense of the building.
Hamar walked up to the desk and knocked it a few times, "Are there any free rooms?"
For a few moments he waited patiently as nothing changed until seemingly randomly he stopped knocking and smirked. He had heard the sounds change and knew the owners were coming over. The owner, an elderly woman wearing a simple shirt, skirt and apron. She yawned as she introduced herself, "Names Shu Fang, just call me auntie. So the old fart sent you? How wa- no, no matter, what can I do for you?"
Hamar looked intently as he thought, 'Her heartbeat increased when she talked about Uncle Wang...affection, worry, something else?'
Yan saw Hamar was thinking and stepped forward and took off her hood, "A single room and a bath if possible, that's all for now."
Shu Fang smiled lightly and leant on the desk, "Good looking girl, be careful out there. Unsightly fellows have been flooding the city recently."
"Unsightly? How?"
"The kind who would go after pretty young'uns like you, that's who. Just make sure you have someone with you and stay covered." Shu Fang leant in further and her smile stopped as she explained. "But that's not a problem for you to worry about, that is if you're just visiting. I will have to ask for your identity token, association rules..."
Hamar watched the conversation and noted the nearly imperceptible nose flared at the mention of the 'association'...was this the Blushing Mirror Coalition, or something else?
Yan nodded and took out her token, "Yes just visiting for a few days, that's all. I'll make sure to be careful."
Shu Fang looked at the token a little then placed it down on the desk before telling Yan, "Just a moment, those damn Blushing Mirror buggers pestered me to scan the tokens every time, I need to find the scanner."
"Blushing Mirror? The Coalition?"
"Ya' know of 'em?" Shu Fang raise her eyebrows and turned to Yan briefly before continuing with searching behind the counter.
"Yes...from Uncle Wang actually."
For a moment, Shu Fang paused, "Just stick your nose out of all that, don't go looking for trouble or you might find it..." Then she continued.
"Ah! Here it is!" She picked up a large box with a line carved in the middle. She pulled Yan's token through the line and passed it back, "Just...have a good time and leave."
Yan took back the token and squeezed it, "Yes...well, like I said we want a single room, how much is that?"
"Ah, no matter," Shu Fang waved her, "Doesn't matter, I don't get customers anyway have it for free. If you want to help just pay for food and if you see Uncle Wang go help him."
Yan bowed lightly, "Thank you!" Then she looked towards Hamar who was still stood idly, and pushed him gently.
He shook and awoken from his thoughts, bowing, "thank you, auntie"
"No need, just take any room you want. There's no one else anyway. Up the stairs to your right, I'll let you settle. When you're ready to eat just call me beforehand and I'll bring you down when it's ready."
The two nodded and left, going upstairs and picking a random room. After closing the door, Yan made a shushing gesture and stepped quietly. She held out two of her fingers and used it to gently let out mental energy, laws and QI. Each energy and power careful to emit no fluctuations and stay undetected. After a few moments the formation was created and Yan spoke, "That seemed... suspicious, no?"
Hamar shook his head, "No...you saw me, I was stuck in thoughts. That was definitely suspicious."
"The thugs..."
"The recency..."
"The disdain for the coalition"
"The worry for Uncle Wang...it definitely seemed more than simple worry. Could something be wrong with the coalition?" The back and forth of suspicions concluded and then moved to speculation.
Yan flicked her fingers as she thought and spoke out her those thoughts, "Perhaps...there's a chance that Uncle Wang is under some sort of control? Or he works for the coalition? In trouble with those thugs?..."
Hamar listened in and nodded at opportune times. Once her thoughts slowed, he added his own, "No matter what, we owe Uncle Wang to investigate a little. It shouldn't harm the main investigation on Yi Sect to determine whether this Blushing Mirror Coalition is of any bad influence to the mortals here. And if it is..."
"The Nine Clouds Sovereign Sect would say it best to liberate and establish new status quo to best of ability without sacrificing the greater mission..." Yan spoke the official stance, "But personally it feels wrong, so even if the greater mission is disturbed, we should do out best to help."
Hamar smirked, "Exactly my thoughts, so..."
"Shall we?" Yan smiled and held up her hand which had a formation forming and spinning.
Hamar grasped his sword and pulled fit out. He ran his fingers over the edge and pulled out the crystal laws, instead injecting metal laws from within Hou's soul which he had a connection to.
He then paused for a moment before connecting to Hou once more and pulling out a thin layer of solar laws which he applied to the edge of his Sword Soul.
'The laws will last a few days before the Sword Soul would destroy them and assimilate them. The more it's used, the more the laws are used and the quicker they will assimilate...'
He finished creating the sword and flashed a look towards Yan, "Shall we kill those rats scurrying underneath us?"
Yan nodded and within her eyes another formation had been activated. A certain line of laws and energy spun while she looked down. She could see through layers of material and see underground the entire city where complex tunnels lay with extensive warehouses full of slaves.
