The sky above the Blue Moon Sect was still shrouded in destruction. The inheritance crack that opened in the sky was like a giant mouth that sucked in everything around it. The inheritance aura was so dense that it made all the cultivators around him feel a suffocating divine pressure.
However, within the vortex, tranquility reigned.
Yuan Jin opened his eyes. His body was now standing in a strange place—a space without walls with a black sky dotted with slowly rotating galaxies and stars. Before him stood seven tiered altars, each emitting a different light. At the top of the seventh altar, a golden book floated slowly, surrounded by ancient symbols that floated in the air.
"This is… the inheritance space of the God King," Yuan Jin hissed.
The air in this space contained a pure energy that he had never felt before. Every breath he took seemed to strengthen his body and soul.
Yuan Jin stepped onto the first altar. There, two silver-robed cultivators stood upright, each holding a long spear. Their gazes were blank, but their bodies were enveloped by an immortal aura that made Yuan Jin's breathing slightly hitch.
"You must pass through us if you wish to proceed," one of them said in a cold, flat voice.
Yuan Jin did not answer. He drew his sword—Shidou, who had been his loyal companion since the battle at the Blue Moon Sect.
Without warning, the first two altar guards attacked simultaneously. Swift and precise spear strikes were aimed at Yuan Jin's body from two directions. However, with his agile movements and sharp battle instincts, Yuan Jin was able to dodge and block attack after attack.
The fight was short but fierce. In ten moves, Yuan Jin managed to stab the first guard's heart and slash the second guard's neck. Both of them turned into light and disappeared.
"First level cleared…" he muttered, holding his breath.
Meanwhile, outside the inheritance chamber…
Shen Kai stood atop the ruins of the Blue Moon Sect. The demonic aura from his body shook the ground and the air around him. The sect elders could only hold their breaths, not daring to approach too closely.
"Damn brat…" Shen Kai hissed. "You may have made it into the inheritance chamber… But I will be waiting for you to come out. And I am sure… you will not last long in there."
The Grand Elder of the Blue Moon Sect immediately gave orders to the top disciples.
"Go in! Whoever can take the inheritance first will be the hero of the Blue Moon Sect!"
Dozens of selected disciples rushed into the gap, following Yuan Jin's footsteps. However, when they arrived at the first altar, their eyes widened at the sight before them—the two guardians had been defeated.
"Who did this?" one of the disciples asked.
The other disciples stared at Yuan Jin as he stepped onto the second altar.
"It seems like that person... is no ordinary disciple. We must be careful of him."
Yuan Jin now stood on the second altar.
There, a black-robed figure with a large body and glowing red eyes stared at him. The demonic aura surrounding him was so dense that the stones around the altar cracked just from his spiritual pressure.
"That... is a guardian demon," Yuan Jin muttered. "Half Immortal realm..."
While he himself was still at the intermediate stage of the Sealing Death Realm. In terms of raw strength, he was one level behind. However, he was not afraid.
Yuan Jin closed his eyes and cried out in his heart.
"Aether... please help me..."
A soft yet deep voice echoed in his mind.
"Don't worry."
Aether commanded. "Close your eyes. Leave the rest to me."
Yuan Jin obeyed. When he opened his eyes again, they were wide open.
He was already standing on the sixth level altar.
His body trembled for a moment, not because of fear—but because of shock. Aether had skipped the entire process of the third, fourth, and fifth altar trials, leading him straight to the end of the journey.
However, the greatest challenge was not over yet.
On the sixth altar, stood a giant horned spider monster, towering like a mountain. Its body was gleaming black with eight knife-sharp legs, and from its mouth dripped a green, vaporous poison.
Compared to the monster, Yuan Jin was only the size of the sole of its foot.
Suddenly, a voice came from within his body—Aether's voice.
"Its weakness is in its head. Thrust Shidou's sword into the monster's head."
Without hesitation, Yuan Jin clenched his sword, then ran as fast as he could. Each step was accompanied by a small burst of spiritual aura.
He leaped into the air—higher, faster, and stronger than usual. In an instant, he was above the spider's head and threw Shidou with full force, stabbing him right in the middle of the monster's head.
CRAAAKK!
The monster screamed and shook the inheritance space, before finally slowly dissipating into particles of light.
Yuan Jin landed on one knee, his breathing heavy… but his eyes filled with excitement.
He had arrived at the seventh altar.
There, a large book was floating, blazing brightly. The book was wrapped in divine energy and ancient symbols surrounded each page. The title on the cover read clearly:
"Inheritance of the God King"
Yuan Jin took a slow step. Each step felt heavy, as if the fate of the entire world rested on his back. When he touched the book, a golden light enveloped his body.
In an instant, he felt a rush of divine power entering his veins. The ancient symbols began to merge with his soul, as if acknowledging his existence as the heir.
A voice echoed throughout the inheritance room.
"Congratulations… O future God King."
Yuan Jin raised the book high with both hands. On his face, there was no smile, only unwavering determination.
"From now on… I am the Heir to the God King Throne."
To be continued…
