Chapter 2 - The First Heroes Meet

Author's Note:

It's been a while since I paid attention to this particular story.

My main series, Chronicles of the Celestial House, and its spin-offs, have kept me busy, not to mention college, clinical internship, and playing Genshin Impact/Honkai: Star Rail/Arknights/FGO.

Without further apologies, I decided to give some attention to my new story series: Kaleidoscope Adventure.

At the moment, there are three stories that belong to this series:

- Kaleidoscope Adventure (JLU): The Sorcerer Sarkaz of Gotham City

- Kaleidoscope Adventure (TT): The Green Driver and Blade of Jump City

- Kaleidoscope Adventure (YG): An invincible shield of the storm

Ps. I discovered a translation error that can appear in the story. Donnie's hero name is Pioneer, but sometimes it appears as Pathfinder.

Chapter 1: The First Heroes Meet

Meanwhile, Koriand'r and Robin end up meeting, and sparks fly with a little help from another couple.

POV Narrator

In space somewhere near Earth, a rather unpleasant-looking red spaceship is traveling.

Its fuselage is shaped like a large rounded disk, with a narrow spindle topped by a circular projection standing dead center on the upper surface; the deck.

Several spikes extend from the diameter on either side, while two larger ones point straight forward to flank the main gun.

XXX

Inside the ugly spaceship, in the area reserved for holding the prisoners, things are not very calm.

Screams of wild rage and the sounds of fists hitting the walls resound throughout the structure.

At the moment, there is a single prisoner on the ship, normally, the guards can only handle one prisoner.

But this prisoner is particularly strong, angry and thirsty for revenge.

The alien guards physically appear as winged humanoid reptilian creatures with long tails, wielding tridents as weapons.

The faces resemble that of a skull with intimidating red eyes with red lines running down the edge of their faces.

They were covered in dark green scales and wore faded gold-colored armor.

"Will the door hold?" asks the first guard, hoping not to have to worry about the prisoner.

"She must!" replies the second guard, not daring to imagine what will happen if the prisoner leaves her cage.

"The alien will be delivered on schedule. Lord Trogaar ordered it." Said the third guard, the most loyal and brave of his group of cowards.

"What if this thing comes loose?" asks guard number one, ready to correct for safety at the first sign of danger.

"Then Zorg help us all." The third guard declares, being able to only pray that this catastrophic scenario doesn't happen.

After these last famous words, the prisoner lets out a piercing scream, followed by an incredibly powerful blow.

The prison cell gate cracked, revealing two glowing neon green eyes.

The guards take a few steps back, preparing for anything and everything, and they realize it when one last scream rings out and the door explodes off its hinges.

The prisoner finally left the cell.

The monster that terrifies the guards with its mere presence is a tall alien female with bright orange skin, large green eyes with light green sclerae, and small rounded eyebrows.

She has straight, shiny, waist-length, fiery red hair with short bangs.

She wears a sleeveless top that shows off her stomach, a mini skirt, and thigh-high boots that were all black. She also wears a belt and has a silver armor on her neck.

Underneath which were metal-colored armored undergarments that covered her entire body except her face.

He also has a crown framing his face and plates of armor on his shoulders.

His hands and forearms are encased in thick, stiff cuffs connected at both ends.

She is Koriand'r of Tamaran, called Kori by her friends or Starfire in the human tongue.

"Zengtha ru maka! Kek zengtha ror!" Koriand'r shouts, her voice menacing, ready to beat up the guards to escape.

Koriand'r charges forward with a roar in his throat that steadily grows.

As she approaches you have four Gordanians, a clear height discrepancy becomes apparent, with her on the short side.

However, this does not stop her from swinging both forearms in a wild roundhouse and slamming one of her captors against the wall.

"Zengtha ru maka! Kek zengtha ror!" The alien girl shouts, making a great slash she eliminates two more; then she tries an uppercut against the one still standing, but he blocks it with his spear and tries a counterattack.

It gets nowhere, but she slips in a blow that snaps the pole in two and follows it up with a kick to the head.

The now unconscious enemy is pushed against a control panel on the wall; as he slides down, red lights and sirens are activated by the blow.

"Heska vo." Koriand'r whispers viciously, ready to push her way through the rest of the guards.

XXX

On the outside of the ship, a section of the lower hull explodes as the orange-skinned girl flies away through the smoke and flames.

An instant later, he put a lot of distance between himself and the Gordanians and headed for Earth.

XXX

Changing scenery, we leave infinite space for the blue planet, nicknamed Earth.

Specifically, let's look at Jump City, which is located on the West Coast of America, its population seems to be in the millions.

The city has a modern urban center with pizzerias, parks, businesses, houses, islands and busy streets.

The sun is setting, marking the beginning of an eventful night that will go down in the city's history.

People are trying to get home from work or go out for the evening with their friends.

The streets are full of cars.

The buildings are dark in color and are all of different shapes and sizes.

In the distance is a large bay with a bridge crossing it, visible from many points in the city.

Among the countless buildings that make up Jump City there is a special place, even if it doesn't seem so at first glance, an abandoned factory in the industrial area of the city.

This place with no real name (for now), is the home and secret base of a pair of little-known local heroes, Pioneer and Pyra.

XXX

Inside the factory, a beautiful young red-haired woman and an effeminate black-green-haired boy are preparing for their patrol.

Homura/Pyra is found outside the container where her Driver keeps the equipment and certain volatile elements.

"Donnie, you've been in there for almost fifteen minutes, do you need help getting dressed?" Pyra asks, speaking through the sliding door of the container.

"Pyra, I'm not a toddler, I can dress myself, I just had some issues with the exoskeleton." Donnie replies, sounding slightly embarrassed.

"If you're not out in five minutes, I'm coming to help you whether you want it or not." Pyra said, starting to lose her patience a little.

Seconds after this ultimatum, the container door opens, exposing Donnie, no, Pioneer, Pyra's Driver.

The basis of Pioneer's suit is the classic Super-Hero suit, but instead of being tight and skin-tight, it contains Kevlar padding that slightly increases the size of Pioneer's body.

The section of the suit that covers the legs, waist and sides of the chest, specifically the rib area, are dark black.

The abdominal area of the suit is covered by a V-shaped section colored in emerald green from which lines of the same color branch out to occupy the inside of the arms.

The upper part of the suit covering the chest, shoulders and outer arms are dark green. The chest area has the same V shape.

In the center of the chest there is a kind of metallic badge in the shape of a circle, colored black with a kind of shining ruby-colored gem in the shape of a cross inside.

Pyra remembers Donnie saying that the basic design of the suit was inspired by the uniforms of the heroes of a certain cartoon, Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes.

In addition to the hero suit that forms the basis of the costume, there is also equipment consisting of a multifunctional belt and an exoskeleton.

Around the Pioneer's waist is a green-black utility belt that holds various useful tools or ammunition.

For those who don't know, the exoskeleton is an external cybernetic device capable of enhancing the physical capabilities of the user who is covered in it and which constitutes a sort of "artificial musculature".

Pioneer's exoskeleton is a piece of advanced technology, colored emerald green and black, crossed by ruby-colored lines.

The main piece of the exoskeleton covers the Pioneer's back in the shape of a Y, from which extensions connect to the arms and legs.

Finally, Pioneer's head is covered in a futuristic helmet in black and dark green, with a ruby red visor.

Pyra remembers Donnie mentioning that he was inspired by Soundwave's face from Transformers: Prime.

"One day I'm going to take a leaf out of Iron Man's book and build myself mechanical arms to take off and put on the heaviest gear." Pioneer comments, his voice sounding more mature, more masculine and synthetic due to a component in his helmet.

Pioneer stands in front of Pyra, normally they are the same height, both being 160 centimeters tall, even if Pyra with her heels gains centimeters.

'Donnie is cuter outside of his costume.' Pyra thinks, preferring to see her Driver's face and eyes instead of a ruby visor.

"Pyra, aren't you changing your clothes?" Pioneer asks, moving his hand up and down in the direction of the Legendary Blade's civilian attire.

"Unlike you, it takes me a second to change." Pyra said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

The haired beauty is not bragging, but telling the truth.

In an instant, Pyra's attire has changed dramatically, going from a beautiful woman dressed appropriately to a heroine in a costume that attracts the attention of every man and a fair number of women.

Pyra wears a red and black short armor with gold and green ornaments.

She also wears black fingerless gloves, a short-sleeved red shirt with a high collar and matching thigh-high boots, short red shorts, a long multi-colored cape in the shape of a backwards draped scarf, and a golden tiara.

In the sternum area, between the neck and chest is a shining green stone in the shape of a cross, this is the Core Crystal of Pyra.

"Being a Blade has its advantages." Pioneer comments, with a slight envy, unable to help but look at Pyra.

Thanks to the helmet he wears and the visor, no one can see where Pioneer's gaze is specifically directed.

"I need to dress old-fashioned." Pioneer comments, patting his armored shoulder.

"Don't be jealous Donnie, you have your tricks too." Pyra replies, as she walks next to her Driver.

"Pyra, I remind you that my name is Pioneer when I wear this armor." Pioneer comments, passing his hand in front of his visor as if to emphasize it.

"Yeah, secret identities and all, I'll be careful to use the right name when we're out." Pyra said, passing a hand over her eyes, creating a red, V-shaped metal visor.

'Pyra's mask reminds me of Saber Alter's (Artoria Pendragon) visor from FGO.' Pioneer thinks, walking towards the area where the dismantled vehicles are located.

"Pioneer, have you prepared a surprise for tonight's patrol?" Pyra asks, putting her arms behind her back.

"Yes, I have created something that will make our travels much easier." Pioneer said, reaching out to a huge white cloth that covered a large, long object.

With a dramatic movement of his arm, Pioneer revealed the existence of a large motorcycle with three wheels, one in front and two in the back.

The motorcycle or tricycle is colored mainly emerald green and black, with a gray saddle.

The sides of the motorcycle have a kind of armor that resembles the wings of an airplane. Each side of this armor is decorated with a stylized symbol similar to Pyra's Core Crystal.

At the rear of the vehicle is a large luggage rack, equipped with six exhaust pumps and a pair of rocket-like engines mounted on the sides.

"Pyra, I present to you the Storm Cycle, the first vehicle designed and operational by me using components I confiscated from local criminals." Pioneer said, casting a quick glance at the rest of the vehicles in the area, which are in various stages of disassembly.

"I don't know much about motorcycles, but it's a real gem." Pyra said, partly out of friendship for her Driver and partly out of sincerity.

The Legendary Blade has no particular interest in land vehicles, but doesn't want to discourage his Driver with poorly chosen words.

"It took me a while to make it, but now we can move at a considerable speed without getting tired." Pioneer said, as he sits on the motorcycle seat, placing his hands on the handlebars.

"Climb aboard Pyra, I have a feeling we're in for a ride to remember." Pioneer said, causing the power of the Storm Cycle's engine to reverberate through the warehouse.

'My Driver feels strangely more secure inside his suit.' Pyra thinks, before making herself comfortable on the High Tech motorcycle.

The red-haired beauty sits on the motorcycle behind Pioneer, putting her hands around his waist

'One of the dreams of my life is coming true: I'm riding a beautiful motorcycle and a beautiful girl is holding me tightly in her arms.' Pioneer thinks, becoming tense for a moment because of the sudden intimacy with Pyra, because of the emotions.

Donnie, the person hiding under the Pioneer armor was a textbook bookworm, before meeting Pyra the only flesh-and-blood women in his life were his mother, a few aunts and a handful of cousins.

'Unfortunately, I can't feel the heavenly feeling of this hug because of the padding of the costume and the armor of the exoskeleton.' Pioneer thinks, wishing this hug could happen when he's not wearing his hero attire.

"Pioneer, aren't we leaving? Are there any engine problems?" Pyra asks, not realizing how her smallest actions can affect her Driver.

"No, I was just mentally preparing myself for the ride, this is an important moment." Pioneer tells a half-truth, keeping the most hormonal corners of his mind under control.

Without saying anything else, Pioneer focuses on the task at hand, riding the Storm Cycle out of the factory and onto the streets of Jump City.

XXX

In a completely different corner of Jump City.

Sirens are blaring, a sign that local police are looking for a criminal.

Not far from the police cars, an unnamed female thief runs down the sidewalk and dives into an alley.

The thief carries with him a sack full of jewels.

This man must have learned his trade from cartoons, because there is no other way to explain his thief attire.

In an apparent stroke of luck, the thief hides in a dark alley, just in time to see police cars speeding by.

In fact, the thief made the biggest mistake of his criminal career.

Because after taking ten steps, a shadow quickly passes over him.

"Huh?" The thief mutters, in a confused tone, thinking he saw something, he takes out his weapon, a crowbar and brandishes it uncertainly.

As if it couldn't be more cliché.

Something flashes from the rooftops and resolves into a birdarang, revealing the presence of a superhero on the scene.

This hero is Robin, a teenager with an athletic build, pale skin, and black hair, held back in a spiky slick with lots of hair gel.

For some unknown reason, Robin is quite short for his age.

Robin's costume consists of green tights with black steel-toed ankle boots, elbow-high green gloves, a green short-sleeved shirt under a red armored vest with a yellow letter "R" inside a black circle above the left pectoral muscle, a yellow belt, and a black cape with a yellow interior.

He always wears a black and white domino mask.

The birdarang thrown by Robin hit the thief's hand, depriving him of his "great weapon".

"I don't want any trouble, okay?" said the thief, as he backed away, knowing he was in serious trouble.

If this "genius" can't handle regular cops, what can he do against a hero who lurks in the shadows like a ninja?

A black blur appears behind the thief, at the end of the alley, and he turns that way to find a pair of sharp eyes staring at him from the shadows.

"You should have thought of that before you committed the crime." Robin declares, not daring to show mercy against a thief, even a merciful and incompetent thief.

Robin advances relentlessly towards the thief and throws a high punch that hits the thief in the chin. For such a small boy, he has considerable strength, Robin's blow sends the criminal flying for a distance of five meters.

The thief was defeated easily and quickly, what a minor character like this deserves.

But the little thief is hard-headed enough not to lose consciousness and has a brain small enough to say one sentence: "Hey! This is not your city! You shouldn't be with..."

Robin, approaching in an intimidating manner, manages to silence the thief without having to throw a second punch.

"I just moved here. And from now on, I'm working alone." Robin declares, landing one final blow to silence the thief.

When he opens his eyes he will find himself in a beautiful prison cell.

The sound of something whizzing overhead distracts Robin's attention from the beating he just gave.

The hero, dressed in red, green and yellow, looks up into the sky to see a bright green streak cutting across the starry sky above the buildings.

It traces a straight path along the alley and vanishes behind the buildings on the opposite side of the street.

Not long after it disappears into the urban jungle, a low eruption is heard and a cloud of pale emerald dust rises from the impact zone.

Robin's masked eyes narrow at the event for a moment, before turning his gaze back to the unconscious thief.

Then he ties up the thief and hangs him upside down.

Robin then pulls himself up onto a wall in a dead end and heads toward the impact zone.

XXX

Near a certain famous pizza place, smashed into the street is a very large crater spewing thick clouds of bright green smoke, the crash site of whatever just buzzed the block.

Several onlookers stopped their cars and got out to get a better look.

In a closer shot of the crater, the smoke dissipates to reveal Koriand'r at the center of the rubble.

A number of curious civilians stopped their cars and got out to get a better look at what had happened.

"Slopforn ivortmat!" The alien girl screams loudly, as she slides down the slabs and advances towards the civilians.

"Slopforn! Ond gudshik zerrole!" Koriand'r utters incomprehensible words, when an unnamed teenager takes a picture of the orange-skinned alien.

The idiot didn't even think that the camera flash could bother the alien girl.

Koriand'r steps back from his baggage, closing his eyes.

When he opens them again, his eyes shine bright green, a sign that he is in a terrible mood.

After a moment's rest, Koriand'r looks toward the front door of the pizzeria.

There is a pillar here, which supports the main end of the balcony.

The alien girl gets closer and closer to the pillar, ready to damage it in the sheer determination to free herself or die trying.

He lunges at it and hits it with such force that it bends and breaks; the spectators at the railing can barely remain standing due to the resulting vibrations.

Back to ground level, where the column's outer concrete layer has crumbled away, revealing the dented steel core, but the alien's bonds are still intact.

"Zop! Yark! Mesnef!" the alien girl screams, attempting the same move once again, hoping for a stroke of luck.

The spine bends more and more with each blow, and the last one gives way significantly.

With its support compromised, the balcony fractures along the edge where it joins the rest of the building; people on the balcony are thrown against the railing as it tilts toward the street.

However, the combined effect of all these hits on Koriand'r's chains is nil.

Slightly tired from this intense exercise and probably from her fall through the atmosphere, Koriand'r takes a moment to breathe.

The alien girl, not completely tired, but not completely rested either, raises her arms for another shot.

Suddenly, a flying birdarang hits the side of the alien girl's head, knocking her completely off balance.

They mutter under their breath words that are incomprehensible to an Earthling, and Koriand'r turns to face the direction from which the birdarang was thrown.

The person who threw the Birdarang is Robin, who is currently on the roof of a parked car.

"Who are you?" Robin questions, focusing on the alien girl, the biggest threat to Jump City (for now).

Koriand'r doesn't respond with words, instead growls like an animal, then leaps into the air, aiming to fall and hit the brightly clad boy.

Robin, not wanting to die, is forced to jump off the roof of the car, avoiding being destroyed along with the car.

Robin lands with a backflip, but one circular swing after another forces him to continue swinging and swaying.

Suddenly, a trail of fire appears out of nowhere, forcing Koriand'r and Robin to separate.

'What's going on?' Robin thinks, reaching out to prepare an explosive ice birdarang.

Just like his mentor Robin, he has a little bit of everything under his belt.

The alien girl and the gorgeous boy turn in the same direction, looking at who or what generated this trail of fire.

Pioneer sits astride his motorcycle, while Pyra sits behind him, holding a large sword whose blade emits heat and sparks that can turn into raging flames in a flash.

"I don't know what's going on, but if you two don't calm down, someone's going to get burned." Pyra said, trying to use intimidation to keep the alien girl and the boy wonder calm.

Koriand'r, not understanding any words Pyra says, runs with superhuman speed towards the Driver and Blade duo.

"I drive, you attack!" Pioneer exclaims, activating the Storm Cycle's acceleration.

Seeing an alien girl running straight towards a high tech motorcycle piloted by a guy in green armor and a girl with a huge sword, Robin can't help but think one thing: 'This is going to be one of those long nights.'
