Kade's knee bounced up and down, causing the amber liquid in the glass to shake from the tremors. His eyes constantly wandered toward the phone lying on the coffee table in front of him, waiting impatiently for the screen to light up with a new notification.
But it didn't. Minutes passed, and the screen remained perfectly dark and still, undisturbed by any calls or messages.
Eventually, Kade couldn't take it any longer. He gulped down the remaining whiskey, put down the glass, and headed to the door, grabbing his jacket on the way.
"Where are you going?" Cael called after him.
"To the bar. Check up on Felix."
"You drank."
Kade's steps faltered. "Hardly anything… But I'll get a driver."
