Felix opened the door, only to find the hallway empty, save for the maids doing their jobs.
He glanced at the clock. Almost eight AM. Waaaay past the time he asked Lyla to show up at.
Could it be that she had gone to the toilet?
Unlikely. What were the odds? That out of all that time she had, she would happen to go precisely at the time that Felix would choose to open the door?
He pulled out his phone and dialed Lyla's number.
It took a few rings before the call finally connected.
"Yes?" Lyla's lazy voice sounded on the other end of the line.
"Where are you?" Rather than attack her straightaway, Felix decided to confirm whether the woman had truly disobeyed his order first. He didn't want to come off as unreasonable, after all, in case Lyla had a valid reason for her absence…
But no.
"In my room," Lyla's answer was.
Just this. No explanation as to why she wasn't where she was supposed to be.
