Chapter 28 - Bulma’s invitation

In the morning.

It was still early. I decided to skip school today by using the privileges that Bulma gave me.

I was supposed to be sleeping till the sun was already preparing to set but I was woken up by my phone.

"What the? It's still not even 10." I complained as I looked at the clock that was on the wall of my room.

"Hello." I picked up the phone.

"Is it Satori Kei speaking?" She asked.

"Ms Bulma? Is that you?" I replied.

I was still half asleep, so although I was sure I heard Bulma's voice I asked again just to make sure it was her.

"Come to the capsule corporation at once. I have a task for you." She said.

Despite becoming acquaintances Bulma and I were not close.

Mainly because of one reason.

She has a boyfriend.

So I never reach out to her and the most interaction that we have is a few greetings when we meet at school.

I quickly washed my face and had some coffee and sandwiches that my mom prepared for me and prepared to go out.

"Mom. I am going out for a while." I said to my mother.

"Be careful of cars." She warned me as I left the house.

It does not take long as my house is quite close to the capsule corporation.

This was because Mom works there and she said the house was bought a few years ago simply because it was close to her work.

Because of that I was able to simply fly there and not have to worry about traffic.

"I am here," I said as I landed in the capsule cooperation compound near Bulma.

"Finally. You took so long." She complained.

"What am I supposed to do?" I asked her.

"I am quite bored. So I am planning to go on a trip to relax. To a small island." She said.

"So?" I questioned her words.

"You are coming with me." She said.

"....." I didn't reply to her for a while.

"Why aren't you replying? Are you going to let a defenceless little girl like me go on a dangerous trip alone?" she asked.

"Don't you have a boyfriend? Why are you asking me to accompany you?" I asked her.

"Don't talk to me about that cheating bastard." She replied.

When I heard those words I immediately knew she was arguing with Yamcha.

I also guess that it has something to do with his popularity with women.

Although I knew Yamcha was popular with girls he was never a man who was willing to do an immoral thing such as cheating.

At least before the official breakup of my knowledge.

Which only means that she was having a misunderstanding.

"Don't talk anymore. Just accompany me. I will pay you a lot of zeni for protection." she said.

I immediately agreed to her suggestion.

A few hours have passed.

"I can't believe you can't even drive a plane. Unbelievable." She complained as she piloted a plane.

The place where she wanted to go was surrounded by water so there were only two ways to get there, either by air or by sea.

A plane is much faster to travel than any kind of boat or ship so she chose it instead.

At first, I was confused why she even bothered to hire me as a bodyguard even though she was travelling by plane.

But then I realised that she hired me not only for protection but also to accompany her on a long flight there.

"Where are your friends? Didn't they want to come with you?" I asked her.

"Don't talk about those traitors." She replied.

From her earlier words, she seemed to have gotten in a fight with Yamcha.

And now she is calling her friends traitors, even an idiot could guess that her friends chose a side in the fight.

And from the looks of it it was not her side.

"Wait. A small island in the middle of the sea?" I said as I realised the place where she wanted to go.

"Today is Friday so I thought I might stay there for the weekend and get him off my mind." She said.

"The place where we are going is a place owned by an old man. Since you are a martial artist you might have heard of the old man. What was his name? Trutle something?" She said as she tried to recall the name of the old man that she was talking about.

"Trutle hermit," I replied.

"Yeah. That's the name. We are now going to his house." She replied to me.

"I think I am starting to see something in front of us," I said as I started to see a pink blur not very far away.

"That's the place," Bulma said as she landed her plane on the island.

Master Roshi at that time was lying on his chair under a large umbrella while reading a magazine.

There is also a large turtle near him.

"Oh. Pichi pichi girl. What are you doing here?" He asked Bulma.

"You can go and talk to the old pervert. I am going to get some water." She said to me as she ignored Master Roshi and entered his house without permission.

"What a rude girl. She didn't even give respect to an elder like me." Master Roshi said.

"Well if you stopped reading those obscene magazines maybe you would look like a respectable elder." The turtle replied.

"Hmmm." He muttered as she stared at me.

One second, two seconds, three seconds.

A few seconds have passed but he didn't say anything to me and just stared at me.

"Do I know you? I think I have seen you somewhere before." He said.

I was a bit suprised that he did not remember me since I won the world martial arts tournament against Son Goku, the boy that he personally trained.

He even participated in the tournament himself.

I knew that I only won because my gamble paid off and not because I was stronger than Son Goku but he didn't even remember me?

"What happened? You have a funny expression on your face." Bulma said as she reappeared while holding a carton of orange juice.

That evening.

"Is Bulma here?" Goku asked an old man called Dr Brief as he arrived at the Capsule Corporation
