Chapter 125
I slipped out of the cult's hideout with the prince in tow, my nerves buzzing like a beehive that had just been kicked.
Getting out of there should've been simple. I'd knocked out the guards. The prince was secure, and we weren't being hunted by some hellbeast for once. But of course, nothing involving me is ever simple. As we walked, I started noticing things. Weird things.
The place was creepy as hell.
There were rows of weapons stacked behind half-rotted curtains, everything from swords, spears, and crossbows, to some Void-forged blades that hissed when you looked at them too long. One corridor was filled with crates marked with royal seals, which I guessed were royal goods stolen from the palace. Another room had cages. Inside them were abominable shadow beasts with eyes where no eyes should be. One of them growled in a way that made the walls sweat.
The whole base felt wrong, like the air had been poisoned with secrets and bad decisions.
