Morena had only walked down the hall for a few minutes before she noticed three familiar figures waiting near the turn leading toward the dorms.
As she saw them, Ren also saw her.
"Morena."
His voice was louder than usual, and from the way he looked at her, she could tell he had been waiting for a while.
Elara stood beside him, arms folded loosely across her chest, while Liri lingered slightly behind them. All three looked at her with different expressions.
They were so easy to read that Morena didn't even need the AI's help to tell what they were feeling. Ren looked clearly excited, Liri was nervous, and Elara was calm, but her eyes kept jolting around.
It was clear she was anxious about something.
Morena slowed her pace and stopped before them; it had been a while since they had a proper conversation, so she didn't mind catching up.
"What is it?"
Ren opened his mouth first, then paused as his eyes shifted toward the two books in her arms.
