It was nearing the end of the Primary Term, and the Academy had begun distributing nutrient pills designed to help cadets' bodies adapt to the conditions of Vanaheim, where no ordinary sustenance could be consumed. Each cadet received one pill to last three days. Consequently, the dining hall and canteens had ceased serving food for the time being.
Once in Vanaheim, cadets would be unable to eat or drink anything—the environment itself was hostile to Midgardian physiology. Their only means of survival would be to take a nutrient pill before entering the Trial, which would sustain them for three days. After that, they would still need to endure at least four more days in that world without food or water. For this reason, all cadets were strictly instructed to complete their Trials within seven days.
