Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 A New Enemy Force

As we stood by and watched the guy from a distance, it was about 2 hours past midnight. He seems to be waiting, but for what exactly. Did he already expect two warriors that are armed and secured in the cabin, or was he planning to wait for us to sleep and kill us then?

Anyway, what he's planning to do, will surely come. I estimated that he was about 10 meters away from us. This brings the question, what to do when he comes. Garu told me that a hunter might be after me, as a Traveler traveling a far scale away from home has information. That will surely be quite an investment to those that want it and use it by their means.

Garu asks me to watch the guy, as she goes to the bathroom. I looked at him from the telescope that I had in my hand. He still had the lantern by him, until it went out. He was far out inside the forest area that was pitch black. I closed the window curtains and stayed close to Ariel and Lily with my sword on the side.

As Garu got up the stairs, I told her the man put out his lantern and wasn't visible anymore. Garu went down and guard the lower floor, while I guard the upper floor. Garu moved a few pieces of furniture downstairs loudly. Lily woke up from the sound and she asked Me what she's doing. I said, "Just go back to sleep, everything is alright."

Lily then went back to her small quilt and curled up like a caterpillar. I went to rest by Ariel to warm myself up, I was leaning my back against the wall. As she hugged my waist, I put my hand in her hair and patted it softly.

Garu came back up and closed the door. Garu asked if I'd liked the girl 12 years ago. I said, "Of course, we made a small promise back then if I was to return to her from my journey."

Garu asked if the special message wasn't my duty, would I have still come to her. I looked at Garu with a sincere look, "I'd promise her that I would protect her, till the end of the world."

Garu smiled, "Well there's nothing that I can do about that."

In just a couple of seconds below us, a noise that sounds like moving chairs and tables can be heard. Garu grabbed the hammer that lay right next to her, she signaled me to be quiet. As heavy footsteps can be heard on the creaky wooden floor up the stairs. We were going to be caught, as a knock sounded at the door. He knocked twice and walked to a different room, where he waited for 2 minutes to hear a sound. He then walked down the stairs, as I peered at the window covered by the curtain.

He left with his lantern lit, I find it weird as to why not just knock at the door if you need something. A faint smell of burning wood can be smelled under the doorway. As I watched the guy leave into the forest, the smell of burning wood increased. Light smoke-like fog entered under the doorway and started to fill the air slowly.

With a quick reaction, Garu grabs the quilt that Ariel was using in the air and plugs it under the door. Ariel and Lily woke up. Garu then told me to stand back from the window, in which she grabbed her hammer and to break the window. She told us to step out on the roof. As we did the fire grew larger, we were all on the roof.

Without hesitation Garu pushed me into a bush.

"Get up John, make sure you catch Ariel."

As Ariel jumped, I grabbed hold of her and fell back. Garu got Lily and jumped down smoothly. I tried to look for the guy that might still be out there in the woods.

Garu yelled, "to the barn."

We rushed to the barn, where Garu put Lily and Ariel inside the stagecoach and helped me equip the horses in leather straps. I got a few more blankets and some extra supplies in the coach. I went inside to protect them. Garu quickly controls the horse to move out and we ride the path back to the village. Lily went back asleep, even in the most dangerous time.

Garu taps the side glass window where I look towards that direction, of bright red and orange lights in the distance. I couldn't believe my eyes. The village was set on a blazing fire that stretched from one side to the other. The townsfolk were panicking with some trying to save their valuables, family members huddling far close to the grasslands, and some that looked like running away very quickly. I notice from afar two shadows cast from the fire's light, a girl with a ponytail, striking down a man in the ground with a saber sword.

I thought about why people would kill each other from a fire outbreak, till I saw bigger figures running around the village killing people. A little spark went up to the air and exploded like a firework, colored red.

As we got closer to the village, we took a detour, across the bridge to a small patch of trees and bushes. We stopped with cover and looked at what was happening. I looked to the other side of the window to see what looked like flying stars raining down in the village. Another spark exploded but yellow.

I looked at the forest where it seemed that the enemy was launching the fireballs. Only two launched with one of the fireballs or catapult oiled rocks collided with another that ricocheted and hit a few families out on the fields. I got out of the stagecoach and looked at the terrified people. I wanted to help them, but Garu held my shoulders and slowly pulled me back. The villagers scream in pain and fear. Metal clashing all in the far distance.

The Remaining townsfolk tried to run away, but a circle of flame surrounded them in the grass field. I saw the big brown coated guy and the girl with the ponytails holding a saber sword. The coated guy had magic as he launched a spark in the air that emitted purple sparkles. A horde of orcs came rushing toward their direction and surrounded them with a shield wall.

I looked at Garu "We got to do something to help the townsfolk".

"There's nothing we can do, but to be safe for ourselves," she said.

Garu asked if that was the guy that followed us in the store, "yes that's him, but the girl is new". Garu then went to check on the girls in the carriage. I watch as the Saber girl slices the townspeople one by one slowly, with a few of them begging for mercy.

I notice the big guy not even attempting to murder them or any orcs. With magic, some Casters create magic and Summoners that make magic. As the saber girl kills until the last group of a family is left, she takes the little girl and walks away and signals the big guy to finish the parents off.

She holds the little girl's shoulders facing the parents and watches as the big guy did a new magic trick. He summoned something big that arose from the ground, as orcs took a lot of steps back. Lighting struck the sky, and a bolt came rushing down the summoning portal. The orcs started to clang their metal armor to cause a great honor to the creature. They started yelling "Zog, Zog, Zog, Zog!" as the creature raised from the ground that was far more powerful than the orcs on the ground.

A giant gray arm came out from the portal, then another, until it showed its face as it lifted itself. A Troll as big as a bell tower came out, it had rags for pants with poking horns in its skin that covered his shoulders and back. It was fat and huge, the biggest I saw in my days alive. It had two weapons, a mallet and a sword. The mallet was the size of a large oak tree on his back, with a giant thick metal sword that's double-handed. The portal vanished as it did what it was intended to do. The orcs went silent.

As the little girl screamed from the top of her lungs, for her parents to be alive. The brown coat guy pointed at the parents, the Troll looked at the tiny humans on the ground and raised the sword in the air.

Garu kneels beside me as she prays for the people killed. The parents hugged one another in their final moments.

The Troll smirked and slashed down at the humans, roaring. As the troll sword impacted the ground, it sounded as if an earthquake shook the ground. The Orc army cheered, as Zog removed his sword. The little girl was set loose. She walked to the crater where her parents stood. It was just blood and some limbs everywhere in that area. The little girl kneeled on the ground sobbing for her mommy and daddy.

As the enemy force walked back to the forest, the girl was killed by the saber. A sword through her chest from behind. The little girl looked down at the sword with her blood spewing to the tip of it. She fell slowly to the ground as I felt sad about what happened today.

As the orcs and the two leaders fled to the forest, the Troll remained and smashed the town into pieces of rubble. We then headed out as soon as the Troll fled to the woods, as the sun began to rise as it's the troll's weakness. Never have I seen something so gruesome and evil in my life.
