Chapter 258 - 2 A

Audrey quietly excused herself, leaving before Countess Cassandra could interrogate her about this "someone" who is coming soon.

She gracefully walked around the edge dance hall towards the staircase. Her presence turned many heads—men and women alike. She received stares of jealousy, admiration, and lust. As a seasoned Spectator, she saw through the shallow admiration and the uglier truths behind their gazes. Vanity, greed, lust—these were nothing new. They no longer moved her.

As Audrey reached the second floor, she quietly grabbed the attention of a servant.

"Excuse me, I'm feeling slightly dizzy. Are there any empty rooms for me to rest in?"

The servant quickly recalled all of the rooms on the second floor and which ones were already taken. He then led Audrey to an empty one located at the very end of a corridor.

Once inside, finally left alone, she took out Leymano's Travels and flipped to the pages containing the demigod abilities, carefully stopping at Historical Void Summoning.

She raised her hand and attempted to grab the air. After three failed attempts, she finally grabbed something hard. With a smile of satisfaction on her face, she pulled her arm backwards, dragging out an arm seemingly out of thin air. The arm turned into a head, then a torso, and suddenly a full figure appeared in the room.

Huh? Audrey looked puzzled as she looked at the figure that emerged out of thin air.

"Mr. Wo—Gehrman Sparrow?" Audrey caught herself, quickly covering the slip before she revealed a Tarot Club codename.

"Audrey Hall, it's a pleasure," Gehrman Sparrow declared, but inwardly he thought, She's just as gorgeous as ever. Even when I used the identity of Dwayne Dantes, there were times when I couldn't take my eyes off of her… Her nickname "Backlund's Most Dazzling Gem" is no joke...

Audrey was still in puzzlement, for this was not the person she expected. This was not Gehrman Sparrow!

"Who… are you? Gehrman?"

"Ah, yes, I am Gehrman Sparrow, Miss Audrey. I can't exactly show up to a party wearing the face of a pirate hunter with a bounty on his head, can I?"

C'mon, Miss Justice, use your head a little. You didn't really expect me to attend with Gehrman's appearance, right? Please tell me I'm right... Klein silently lampooned.

"This is a different 'identity' of mine, Klein Moretti. You can call me Klein." He extended his right hand and slightly bowed, as if inviting her to dance.

Audrey took his hand and said, "It's a pleasure, Klein."

The identity of Klein Moretti was not unknown to Audrey. She first learned of this identity of Mr. World back in the Hall of Truth by eavesdropping on the thoughts of Mr. Star.

After carefully analyzing the behaviour of Mr. Star and Mr. World during the Tarot Club gatherings, she concluded that the identity of "Klein Moretti" is one of the oldest identities of Mr. World.

Sigh, just how many secrets do you have, Mr. World... Audrey sighed in her mind, but she also found the mystery behind Mr. World's past somewhat… charming. There was something about not fully knowing everything about the person in front of you that made her feel "something"—she wished to know everything about Mr. World.

"Miss Aud—"

"You can just call me Audrey."

"Then… Audrey, shall we go?" Klein's experience inviting nobles to dance definitely helped ease his nerves; however, he was still nervous enough for it to be shown. Thankfully, his Clown powers allowed him to hide it all, even from the gaze of a Spectator.

With a wide smile plastered on her face, Audrey replied, "Yes."

Klein Moretti and Audrey Hall left the room, arms linked and all. The servant who helped Audrey saw the scene and thought, That's weird... I could've sworn that room was empty. It looks like Miss Audrey didn't inconvenience the man that was already inside… Oh well

As they descended the stairs, gazes that could pierce metal followed their every move. These gazes weren't for Audrey Hall this time, but for the man who was linking his arm with her—Klein Moretti.

Klein maintained his composure using his Clown powers, and Audrey simply ignored them, as she usually did.

Once they reached the final step of the staircase, a large crowd of both men and women surrounded them.

"Miss Hall, who is this man?!"

"My Lady, where did you meet him?"

"Are you two engaged?!"

They were bombarded with questions. Klein felt overwhelmed by this much attention, especially after being isolated for so long. He mentally prepared himself before coming to this party, but this surpassed his expectations.

Audrey kept her usual smile, not faltering even once before the crowd.

"This is Mr. Moretti." She introduced Klein with unwavering confidence.

The overwhelming amount of questions turned into hushed murmurs that spread like wildfire.

"Moretti… have I heard that name before?"

"Could he be a scholar?"

"No, he has to be a noble. That's the only acceptable status for someone like Miss Hall."

"He doesn't look like he's from Backlund, though… perhaps a foreign noble?"

Klein cleared his throat and spoke to try to clear his name before any more misunderstandings occurred.

"My name is Klein Moretti, born and raised in Tingen. I'm a specialist in ancient history."

Hushed murmurs once again filled the air.

"He's not a noble?"

"But he's a specialist in history. If he's close to Miss Hall, then he must have tremendous influence in the history world."

"Could he have ties with the Royal Museum?"

"Of course he does! How else would someone get this close to Miss Hall?"

Just as Klein had predicted, the mention of ancient history combined with Audrey Hall's presence was enough to make the imagination of the crowd run wild. His actual past and social status paled in comparison to the nobles in this party, but that didn't matter anymore—the nobles themselves were making their own assumptions, ultimately pushing Klein's status to a higher degree than it actually was.

Countess Cassandra, Audrey Hall's aunt, had been silent the entire time, even though she was one of the first few people who surrounded Audrey when she first descended the stairs. However, she now had to speak up—her curiosity got the best of her.

"Audrey, how did you meet this man? What is your relationship with him?"

Even though the question wasn't addressed to him, Klein decided to speak up. He straightened his posture and said, "Hello, my Lady, I'm Klein Moretti. I'm—"

"He's my fiancé."

"..."

"..."

A few more seconds of silence passed, and nobody made a sound. The slow-paced music continued playing in the background.

"What?! Since when?!"

"Miss Hall has a fiancé?"

"Mr. Moretti, how did you and Miss Hall meet?!"

Before the scene got any more hectic, Audrey grabbed Klein by the wrist and pulled him onto the dance floor. The chandeliers shone brightly above them, illuminating their figures as they blended in with the other couples who were already dancing to the slow and soothing music.

Nobody else dared to follow them onto the dance floor. The crowd broke into a myriad of whispers, each one igniting another one.

"Fiance? Is that why he kept on rejecting the marriage proposals I told her about?"

"How did the Hall family manage to keep this a secret?"

"This truly confirms that Mr. Moretti is an influential figure in the history world! Why else would she choose him?"

Audrey let the crowd's chatter fade into the background, centering her attention entirely on Klein. She put her hands on his shoulder, pulling Klein into a closer embrace, their clothes rustling against each other—her warmth felt dangerously intoxicating.

To Klein, the world seemed to move in slow motion. Only one word echoed inside Klein's mind, loud enough to shake the foundations of Sefirah Castle.

Fiancé.

Fiancé?! He screamed internally, his Clown powers desperately fighting against himself to prevent his shocked thoughts from being seen in his face. Has she gone mad? Does a Spectator's mind simply short-circuit under social pressure? I am a Historical Projection with a twenty-seven-minute lifespan! You don't just get engaged to a ghost!

This was the danger he was afraid of before. Not just the talking, but the wanting. The feeling of being seen, of being chosen. For the first time since coming to this world, he felt less like a collection of carefully managed personas and more like a whole person—Zhou Mingrui, Klein Moretti. Her declaration that Klein belonged to her, and that she belonged to Klein, even if it was a ruse, stirred something inside his heart.

Even with his Clown powers, his calm facade cracked for a split second; however, that was enough time for Audrey to notice it.

"Klein, relax," she whispered softly into his ear. "I invited you here so you can take a break. Just go along with the flow and dance with me. I won't mind if you step on my toes," she explained. I wonder... just how bad at dancing will the feared Gehrman Sparrow be? Audrey thought.

A break? Miss Audrey, this isn't a break. This is the most exquisite form of torture imaginable...Despite Klein's internal chaos, he maintained a calm outward appearance. Audrey still had her hands wrapped around his shoulders, so he decided to take control of the situation. He grabbed her right hand with his left hand, and he put his right hand around her thin and delicate waist.

This was a very common dance, but also a very intimate and romantic one.

Klein recalled every dancing lesson he received from Wahana Heisen, Dwayne Dantès's etiquette and dancing instructor. He remembered every lesson he received from her with great precision, thanks to his Seer memory.

He began to move around, Audrey perfectly mirroring his footsteps as the talented noble she was. Klein's body instinctively moved with perfect precision and fluidity, as if he had long ago mastered every move.

Eh? Why is Klein actually… really good at dancing? This doesn't make any sense! He's meant to be a ruthless beyonder, feared among even the most powerful pirates in the Sonia Sea! Audrey thought. Her expectations of seeing The World struggle to keep up with the dance were instantly shattered. But… this is actually not bad…

Audrey leaned in closer, close enough to feel Klein's warmth. She quieted her thoughts, melting into his rhythm until it felt as though they were moving as one.

The incandescent chandeliers hanging above shone brightly above this couple. The crowd around the dance floor remained extremely quiet. It was as though the crowd was peeking into a world they were not meant to be a part of.

Klein and Audrey's dance gathered everyone's attention—even the other couples on the dance floor stopped dancing to appreciate the beautiful sight before them.

Twenty-five minutes left… Klein thought. Time quickly trickled down and served as a reminder that he could not stay with her, even if he wanted to.

He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind and engrossed himself with his partner in front of him.

Audrey's bright smile shone so bright that it could've illuminated the entire Astral World. Thank the Lady for my Clown powers…

Klein's perfect outward composure was a fortress that protected him from the outside world. Within its walls, for the space of a single dance, he allowed his world to shrink until it contained nothing but the woman in his arms.

Ten minutes left.

Pant Pant.

Klein and Audrey both danced for over fifteen minutes and finally stopped—they were very exhausted. They were both demigods, but this dance took more than just stamina.

Their hands remained in the same positions as they kept on staring into each other's eyes, breathing heavily. The exhaustion came not from the movement, but from the sheer weight of everything that had been said and felt without a single word being spoken on the dance floor.

"Mr. Moretti!"

Their own little bubble was burst wide open by the crowd that swiftly surrounded them, leaving no escape.

"Mr. Moretti!"

"Who proposed first?!"

"When did you meet? When is the wedding happening?"

The crowd erupted and turned into an interrogation session.

"Audrey! How did he propose to you?! Did you meet him in the Royal Museum? When am I getting a nephew?"

Countess Cassandra, Audrey's aunt, did not spare her any questions. She might've also gone a little overboard with the questions.

Klein awkwardly laughed, turned to Audrey, and asked, "How about we first get a drink and grab some food while we're at it?"

"Ah, yes. I'd love that."

With the excuse of needing time to rest after dancing for so long, they left the crowd behind. Even though many still had a lot of questions, nobody dared to stop them once they left, mainly due to the influence of Audrey Hall and her family.

Who knew that a Historical Projection could get this tired… Audrey, you need to learn to manage your smile. It's bad for my heart! Klein silently joked.

"Klein, there's a table for two over there. Can you wait for me there?"

"Sure."

After Klein left her side, she walked over to the long table with the prepared dishes, wine, and desserts.

I can feel everyone's gaze drilling a hole through me… Don't you nobles have a party to celebrate?! Stop staring at me! Klein lampooned.

Klein was sitting by himself, facing the long table where Audrey was currently choosing their plates.

Her silhouette was a breathtaking sight against the backdrop of the lavishly decorated hall. The emerald green of her gown clung gracefully to her form, making her live up to her nickname as Backlund's Most Dazzling Gem. As he watched her thoughtfully tilt her head, trying to decide what to pick, he felt his face turn pink.

Damn it... he silently lampooned Blushing like a schoolboy who's never seen a girl before. I command an army of marionettes, defeated demigods, fought and escaped angels, and I'm being defeated by a girl deciding what to eat…

Audrey came back with two plates filled to the brim with delicious food.

Hm? Klein looked at his plate. Isn't this what I like? He raised his head a little and looked at Audrey's plate—her food was different.

"How did you know I like all of this?"

"I paid attention to what Dwayne Dantès likes to eat whenever I attended the same social events as him, or rather, you," she explained, "Hehe, you both have basically the same tastes."

Well, Audrey does think the identity of Dwayne Dantès is shared between The World and other blessed of Mr. Fool... Sorry to break it to you, but it's actually been just me the entire time… Klein apologized in his head. Of course, Audrey did not need to know about the truth of Dwayne Dantès, at least not yet.

"Well, thank you for choosing all this, Audrey."

She did not reply, but instead smiled at him.

It took all of Klein's concentration to keep his facial expression from faltering.

Man! I'm stuffed

Klein and Audrey finished their food and decided to remain seated and observe the party from the sidelines. Many nobles would still glance at them from time to time, but it was not as bad as compared to their first interactions.

My spirituality is running out, I won't be able to maintain Klein for much longer… Audrey had a troubled expression on her face.

Klein looked at her and could easily tell why she was troubled. He had been keeping track of time since he arrived at the party, and his spiritual intuition had begun to warn him that his time was running out.

Only 4 minutes remained until his Historical Projection disappeared.

He stood up and invited Audrey out for a walk to get some fresh air. She gracefully accepted his invitation, and they both walked out of the hall into the mansion's lush garden.

Trees covered a large majority of the garden, and bushes that reached three meters high served as walls within the garden to divide it into sections. In the middle of the garden, there was a fountain whose water reflected the crimson moon's light.

There were a few couples outside basking in the radiance of the crimson moon and the romantic vibe that it created. Klein and Audrey were also contaminated by the romance in the air, their cheeks burning up.

"Audrey…" Klein began speaking, his voice low and earnest, "I had a great time, and I don't want this to end." He grabbed both of her hands with his and squeezed lightly.

Klein stop… Don't do this His mind betrayed his actions. Klein, if you go any further, you'll end up hurting yourself and Audrey. You must leave her. Avoid all attachments. You'll end up putting her in danger.

Klein's mind was fractured in two. One side wished for all this to stop. Attaching himself to Audrey would only lead to disaster, to putting her in danger, and if something ever happened to Audrey, Klein would never be able to forgive himself. The other side, however…

"Audrey, I…"

You love her, don't you? You love the way she listens to you ramble on about your day. You love how she talks about her daily life. You love her small mannerisms. You love the way she changes her voice whenever she's talking to you. You love her, Klein… The other side of his mind listened to his heart.

"... I wish to see you again. To see you every day. I wish that I could be by your side, not as an illusory projection, but as the real me. As Klein Moretti."

This was a love confession that came straight from the heart.

Audrey, who had been confessed to countless times by other nobles, was moved by Klein's words.

She squeezed Klein's hands and said, "I... I wish for that too!" Her smile was truly the most genuine and strikingly beautiful thing Klein had ever seen.

On the opposite side of the garden, in front of Klein and Audrey, there stood a young man with a broad forehead and thin face, with black eyes and curly black hair.

He looked at the couple who kept on smiling at each other like idiots.

"Interesting," he said as he took out a monocle and put it on his right eye.

Klein saw this man in the corner of his eye, and his heart froze.

Reality suddenly came to a halt.

Before he could do anything, his vision became blurry and illusory. His environment changed. The crimson moon that hung in the sky was gone, replaced by a sky filled with lightning. The garden was gone, replaced by darkness and the villager homes of the people of Moon City.

Audrey's spirituality ran out.

Klein's time ran out.Uh, Your Excellency Sparrow? Are you okay?"

Moon City's High Priest, Nim, was concerned about Gehrman Sparrow's current state. After all, Gehrman had been unconscious for a while, and when he woke up, he looked as if he had seen a ghost.

That was Amon, right?! What the hell is Amon doing? Why was he there?

"Y-yes, I'm fine. I just received a revelation from Mr. Fool. Don't be worried," Klein said, trying to ease the concerns of the High Priest.

In reality, Klein's mind was racing so fast that it would even cause smoke to come out of his head.

Amon… Backlund… The party… Audrey… Audrey?... Audrey!

Klein's pupils dilated as he had a realization.

He hurriedly took four steps counter-clockwise and entered Sefirah Castle.

Seated in the tall chair belonging to The Fool, Klein extended his arm and peeked into the red star representing Justice.

A familiar view appeared before his eyes. A lush garden bathed in the crimson moonlight filled his vision. In the middle, there stood Audrey Hall with a saddened expression.

Klein could empathize with Audrey's emotions as he also didn't want to leave her alone, but he currently had other problems to worry about.

Where is this bastard?

Klein spent over an hour looking around using the star representing Justice to try to find Amon. Not a single clue showed up. It was as though Amon never attended in the first place.

Was I just seeing things? No, that can't be

I wasn't able to locate "Him," but I'll still keep an eye on Audrey until I can make sure she's safe

Klein retracted his vision from the star and lay back on his high-back chair. His blood was boiling.

If anything happens to Audrey… He looked at the crimson star representing Justice. Sigh, I need to advance. I can't protect her if I'm just Sequence 3. It's better not to tell her about Amon's possible encounter at the party. She would just panic. Even if I warned her, she would be powerless against a King of Angels...

He remained inside Sefirah Castle for a few more minutes to think about his future plans.

For now, I need more answers. I'll head back to Chernobyl to try to learn as much as possible—there's still so much I don't know… Hopefully, I don't run into "Him"

After Klein's Historical Projection disappeared, Audrey headed back inside, with sadness in her heart.

One moment, Klein was there, and the next, he had simply faded away. She had been conscious of the steady drain on her spirituality and knew their time was limited, but the sheer finality of his disappearance stole her breath. Their beautiful confession now felt like a dream that had been abruptly cut short.

As she walked inside the mansion, she couldn't help but be stopped and interrogated by others. Perhaps it was because Klein was no longer by her side, but there was now a larger crowd slowly forming around her.

They were asking the same questions as before: "Where is Mr. Moretti? Are you two really getting married? When is the wedding?" and other similar questions.

Klein…

She lifted her head and, using the Spectator pathway's ability to control her emotions, she met everyone's attention with the usual smile she wore.

Forsaken Land of the Gods, Chernobyl.

Klein, who was standing before Amon, was shocked by the information that came out of the Angel of Time's mouth.

"... I like to refer to that level as 'Above the Sequences.' There are also a number of true deities who refer to it by other names. Some call it 'Great Old Ones,' others refer to it as 'Outer Deities' or 'Cosmos.'"

Klein, who had been hiding in the Historical Void, remembered the warning from the ascetic leader of the Church of Evernight, Arianna, had told him before that unless he became an angel, he shouldn't attempt to understand the cosmos. Otherwise, just having knowledge of it would bring him great danger!

He instantly stopped maintaining the Historical Projection. He stood up from the skyscraper he was sitting on, and began to chant the luck-enhancement ritual as he took four steps counter-clockwise.

A surge of madness, pain, and indescribable information flooded his senses. His skin began to boil with mutated Worms of Spirit.

"... The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth for Blessings."

His Spirit Body entered Sefirah castle and was quickly enveloped by the gray fog, melting away all the impurities and restoring his mind.

Klein sat on his chair, exhausted out of his mind.

The information he had obtained from Amon proved to be truthful, but it came at the cost of Klein's life. If he returned to the material world, he would lose control and turn into a horrifying monster.

I… I need Audrey.

Klein, posing as The Fool, sent a prayer to Justice and informed her of The World wanting an urgent meeting.

A few minutes later, he summoned her.

Mr. Fool was quietly sitting on his chair, as usual, and so was Mr. World. Miss Justice appeared on her usual seat too.

"Kle—Mr. World? Are you okay?" She almost used The World's name in front of Mr. Fool, how careless!

Is he feeling lonely after he had to leave because my spirituality was running out? That's kinda cute—

"No. Miss Justice, I need to forget something, now," Klein urged.

After explaining the matter he needed to forget, talking about it with Audrey, and being hypnotized, he and Audrey remained in silence.

Is this the stuff Klein has to deal with daily as a blessed of Mr. Fool? That's…

"Miss Justice, I know you're concerned, but I'll be fine thanks to y—."

"Mr. World, let me help you. Let me offer you support."

"Support? What do you mean?..." Klein's words trailed off as he saw Audrey stand up from her seat and walk over to him.

She bent over a little and hugged him, enveloping his head in her chest.

"Miss Ju—"

"It's tough, isn't it? I know from the Tarot Club that you've been on dangerous missions, but this… thing about Above the Sequences and the apocalypse is too much for you to handle alone."

Her words were on the edge of blasphemy. The idea that Mr. Fool would give "His" blessed a task too great to handle was a thought few believers would dare to voice. But at this moment, Audrey did not care—Klein's wellbeing was her only priority.

Klein was stunned, not entirely sure how to react to being hugged.

You damn fake bastard, being hugged by Audrey. It should've been me, not you! Mr. Fool joked inwardly. Klein could see and feel through both Mr. Fool and The World, but it didn't feel right to have his mind split in two as a beauty like Miss Justice hugged him—for him, this was a moment to be enjoyed with all his being.

The World tried to look up, but Audrey pushed him further into her chest, tightening her hug. He ultimately gave in and let her do as she wished.

They remained like this for a few minutes; not a single word was spoken.

"I'm worried about you. I may not be able to assist you in person, but I can assist in other ways."

"Thank you, but there's no need to worry about. I have Mr. Fool's full support. I swear that everything will be fine, okay?" Klein said. He felt greatly moved by her statement, but he didn't want her to worry too much about it. Stressing out Audrey was the last thing he wanted. "You remember what I said in the garden, right? Let's schedule a date for sometime later, okay?"

Audrey's face flushed bright red as she recalled their mutual confession just a few hours ago—she also thought of Mr. Fool hearing about this "date," which further reddened her face. Her figure was still shrouded by fog, but Klein had an inkling of what she was feeling.

"Ah, yes, I'd love that~" she happily answered.Four days later, Friday.

Klein and Audrey continued to meet each other in Sefirah Castle as usual, and scheduled their date for Sunday at 4 pm, Backlund time.

In these past few days, Klein fought the God of Wishes, Kotar, and obtained a black-velvet 'Curtain.' The Curtain contained a Sequence 1 Attendant of Mysteries characteristic as well as a Sequence 2 Miracle Invoker characteristic. By using the gray fog's power, Klein was able to separate the characteristics, and now all he needed was to complete the Miracle Invoker ritual to ascend to Sequence 2.

'Return a piece of history that has been left behind to the present era'

Returning the Forsaken Land of the Gods to the rest of the world is the only possible option I have... Derrick and his expedition team will arrive at the Giant King's Court tomorrow... What do I do now... Klein thought. He was currently at the entrance of the Giant King's Court, waiting for Derrick, but he still had to wait a day for them to arrive.

An idea entered Klein's mind. He took four steps counter-clockwise, entered Sefirah Castle, and grabbed the notebook that Audrey gave him.

There is also a detailed section about restaurants and popular date spots in here...

He flipped through the pages over and over, studying them with sheer focus. After thirty minutes, he sent a prayer to Miss Magician.

"...Backlund."

"..." Fors Wall had just received a vision of Mr. World praying, asking for Miss Magician to summon a Historical Projection of him, immediately.

Does he need something from me?! Why such short notice?

Fors, who was currently inside a small apartment, mustered her courage and summoned a Historical Projection of Gehrman Sparrow.

A tall, refined-looking gentleman with sharp features appeared out of thin air.

He looked at Fors with an intimidating gaze.

"Mr. Sparrow? How can I help—"

He teleported away.

"..." Fors was left confused. "Am I just a tool for him?"

Backlund has definitely seen better days... Klein thought as he looked around the streets of Backlund. The war had begun, and its effects were already starting to be apparent. The city wasn't a warzone, nor was it in ruins—just heavy with melancholy.

However, some parts of the capital were still blooming with positivity, such as Empress Borough, North Borough, and West Borough. Perhaps the positive environment was a way for the nobles to fight off the pessimistic feeling of war.

Klein summoned a Historical Projection of the notebook that Audrey gave him.

He then teleported to a place that was listed under the 'Trending Dining Spots' section in the notebook.

Klein had changed his appearance to that of the detective Sherlock Moriarity and entered the establishment in West Borough.

It looks good, and it smells good too... Klein observed the inside with much attention.

He was seated quickly, and his order was brought just a few minutes later.

Man, this steak is amazing. Too bad I can't eat it with my real body... Wait, what am I doing? Miss Magician can only sustain my Historical Projection for fifteen minutes. I've already spent five minutes. I have to go to the next spot!

Without anyone looking, he teleported out of the restaurant without paying his bill.

With only ten minutes left, he had to teleport all around Backlund to visit as many locations as he possibly could.

Klein went from one spot to another, each location leaving a fleeting impression in his mind. A quaint little cafe famed for its Desi pies in North Borough, a quiet corner in Sivellaus Yard overlooking the Tussock River, and the grand lobby of the National Theatre, with posters advertising the latest opera.

As time passed, he felt the spiritual connection to Miss Magician waning.

This...

Klein stood before the perfect spot. Completely isolated from the rest of the city and with a perfect view of the sunset. This was the kind of date spot he had been looking for.

A few moments later, his vision turned blurry, and his environment returned to that of the Giant King's Court. Miss Magician's spirituality had run out, and his Historical Projection had been dispelled.

We're definitely going to that spot! Klein could already picture his date with Audrey.

Colin Iliad said to Derrick, "Go. Open that door. I want to see what the sunlight outside is like…"

Derrick circled around the iron-black throne and arrived in front of the grayish-blue door. He stared at it for a second, bent down, stretched out his hands, and pressed them against the sides of the door.

A crack appeared, letting golden sunlight flood in.

This was the outside world.

The Forsaken Land of the Gods was reunited with the present era.

It's time… Klein thought.

Klein had already ordered Danitz, to pick up the City of Silver's team via boat, so he had no need to stick around.

He teleported to an uninhabited island in the Sonia Sea and concocted the Sequence 2 Miracle Invoker potion.

Klein hesitated. After all, becoming an angel meant that he would become colder and more indifferent to life. It would deteriorate his humanity.

He held the potion in his right hand. He held his breath and then downed the entire potion.

As the potion entered his body, it turned into 'worms' that swam towards every corner of his body. His mind suddenly tore apart into a multitude of Worms of Spirit. There was no longer any distinction between the main body and the auxiliary ones.

"I.."

"Who am I?"

"Am I…"

"The main body?"

Worms of Spirit were spread to the Historical Void, each with a mind of its own. However, the newly popped-up City of Silver in the Historical Void served as an anchor that attracted these maggots. They all concentrated here and allowed Klein to regain partial control over himself.

The next step was to not lose control.

He cogitated to focus his thoughts. With a clear mind, he was able to notice the potion's power going around every inch of his body, and with each second, he felt himself becoming colder.

My humanity is fading…

His eyes began to lose their luster, and his emotions waned.

Benson, Melissa... The City of Silver, the Tarot Club… Audrey…

Suddenly, the potion's flow slowed down. His humanity fought hard against the potion's cold embrace and successfully allowed Klein to remain rational and human.

Klein advanced to Sequence 2 Miracle Invoker.

Empress Borough, Sunday, 3:45 pm, inside Audrey Hall's room.

Audrey was sitting at her desk, writing down ideas for her date with Klein.

Would he like the theater, or would he find it dreadfully boring like so many other nobles? She tapped her pen against the crisp paper, a small smile appearing on her lips. Gehrman Sparrow would undoubtedly find it a waste of time, but Klein… Klein might enjoy it. The thought sent a pleasant warmth through her.

The air inside her room turned eerily chill. Her spiritual intuition tingled rapidly.

She wasn't alone.

Her smile vanished. She quickly stood up and looked towards the balcony, the source of her spiritual intuition's warning.

There, on the balcony, was the silhouette of a man.

Susie is not here, so I can use my Mythical Creature form... but it'll end up destroying the room… I'll have to come up with an explanation later

She raised her guard, ready for any incoming attacks.

The mysterious figure on the balcony opened the door and walked inside.

Audrey was ready to infect the man's mind with a Mental Plague, but then she stopped short, puzzled by what was in front of her.

"Klein?"
