Chapter 19 - A slight chance at love: End

Casper's POV

This morning, Rex and I went to class together. When he walked in, I thought the class would start whispering, but that didn't happen.

Probably no one gave a shit because exams were coming up.

Rex's laugh pulled me out of my thoughts. "I can't believe you and Matt thought I moved here because of him."

We were in my room, and I was tidying up while he looked around. "Well, it kind of seems that way. Who would've guessed you came here for a different reason?"

"Nah, if Matt hadn't mentioned it, you wouldn't have thought that." He was partly right. That conversation with Matt really made me believe he liked him.

"If you don't mind me asking, why don't you like your dad?" I inquired.

"He's a homophobic jerk. That's why I didn't go to Ben's school. He thought I'd turn out like him. It's ridiculous," he replied, his face serious.

"You know, the group and I always wondered why you didn't go to our school. I wonder if things would've been different."

He looked at me, a smile breaking through his serious expression as he said, "I think it would've. I don't think I could've stayed away from you. Just like now, I can't. We're dating." A big smile spread across my face when he said that. No matter what, I was glad to be with him.

"Back then, what I felt for Matt wasn't a crush or anything similar. When he ignored me, I didn't feel a thing. We both acted like nothing had happened. I think I just wanted to keep him safe from bullies, that's all."

"But... did you have feelings for Jess back then?" I couldn't help but ask. I needed to clear my mind before diving deeper into this.

"Definitely not. That handjob meant nothing to me. We both agreed on that beforehand."

I nodded in understanding.

"Are you still in contact with him?" he asked.

"Why would I? He's a total snake."

Rex raised an eyebrow at my response, and I realized he didn't know what went down between Jess and me.

Then I explained why I couldn't stand Jess. "He wanted to make you jealous that badly?"

"Huh?"

"From what you've said, he only did that with me to get a reaction from you."

"I guess so," he said. Honestly, I hadn't thought of it that way. I was just hurt that he went for Rex to spite me. But it doesn't change the fact that he treated me poorly.

Rex came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. "Too bad for him, because I'm not letting you go," he said as he kissed my neck.

"I want just you," I said, still feeling the tingling from his kisses on my neck. He turned me to face him and pressed his lips against mine while my arms wrapped around his neck.

"Our date is still on for tomorrow, right?" he asked as he pulled back.

"Of course," I replied.

"This will be our second date, at least for me."

"Second?" I questioned.

"Yeah. The day we went to the movies was actually a date," he explained.

"Really?" He nodded. "I really wanted it to be a date. I kept telling Darla it wasn't, even though she was sure it was," I admitted.

"Well, it doesn't matter. We'll go on so many dates that we won't even be able to keep track," he said before kissing me again.

I felt truly happy.

"We're going to be super stressed in the coming weeks." Darla said.

"I really dislike having to test my knowledge." Samson chipped in.

"What's the point of all this?" I concluded.

The room went quiet as the three of us lay on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. Our exams were starting next week, and I was certain I'd be overwhelmed.

"So," Samson said, breaking the silence. "Are you gay or bisexual?" he asked me.

If this had been a few weeks ago, I would have hesitated to answer. "Bisexual."

He nodded. "Are you and Rex a couple?"

"Yeah," I answered.

"Okay."

Silence.

"Do you have feelings for Mick?" Darla asked Samson.

He paused for a moment before replying, "Yeah."

"Are you dating?" she pressed.

"Soon. He just ended a relationship."

"Alright."

Silence.

"Will you tell Aria how you feel?" I asked Darla.

"Maybe," she paused. "I'll do it after exams."

"Okay."

Silence.

"Did you see the group chat? Bia and Chloe want everyone to meet up after exams, and Liam suggested his house," Darla said.

"You're coming, right?"

"Of course, I miss those guys."

"Want to join us?" I asked Samson.

"Nope, I want to enjoy my break with Mick."

"Alright then. I'll invite Mick instead, and you'll have to come."

"Not likely."

I laughed. "Will you bring Aria with you?" I asked Darla.

"Yeah, I'll invite her. I bet she and Bia will get along really well."

I was excited to see all of them.
