Inez blinked her eyes. Staring at the woman in front of her, she didn't know who this woman was, but the way the woman was looking at her screamed that she did know her.
"Do you know her?" her husband asked as he turned and looked at his wife. He sounded confused because he didn't and hadn't seen Inez in this town, and his tone mirrored Inez's confusion to a tee because she, too, didn't understand why the woman was staring at her as if she had seen her before when they had never met.
The woman tugged the shawl around her shoulders and stepped forward. She took a look at Inez and then turned to look at her husband before smiling. She said, "Of course. I don't know her. It was just a momentary thing. I thought she was someone I knew, but it turns out that I was mistaken."
She then turned to look at Inez and said to her, "I am sorry about that, miss."
