Chapter 132 - Less Perverted

Succubi Chapter 132. Less Perverted

I bought some buns and sodas. A lot.

Like, arms full, bag straining, people staring amount. The kind of haul that made shopkeepers whisper "jackpot" and high-five their assistants. Sweet buns, spicy buns, fluffy egg filled buns, even those weird mana reactive jelly ones that fizz when you bite them. Sodas too, sugar fueled, fizz heavy, with cute demon mascots on the bottles. I was basically carrying a feast.

All my treat.

I felt generous.

I felt like a wealthy merchant in a medieval JRPG who just cleared a dungeon and hit the tavern with his party. I wasn't rich rich, but tonight? I felt like I was. So yeah, I got some extra. For Kyra, Adrian, Felix. Even Lilith and the others back at the estate. Hell, I even considered grabbing a few for Callahan, just because he probably needed emotional support and carbohydrates after his spiral into perverted despair earlier.

But when I turned around to look for him… he was gone.

Vanished.

No dramatic exit. No flip of the cape. Just full on ninja disappear mode.

"…Huh." I stared at the empty space for a moment. "Well. I guess that's fine. It's just buns."

I adjusted the weight of the bags in my arms and sighed.

"Besides, that guy's rich enough to buy the whole damn store if he wanted to. Probably owns stock in the bun company. Probably even knows Ariana L'Vyre's private address."

We all parted ways at the plaza.

Felix gave me a pat on the shoulder and took his share with a grin. "Thanks, rich guy. Don't spend it all on foot lotion."

Adrian bowed dramatically. "I shall savor this feast as if it were cooked by my waifu herself. Until next mission, Rogue Mask E."

"Don't say that out loud," I muttered.

They walked toward the male estate path, laughing and joking between themselves, voices echoing softly down the stone-tiled street. The moonlight hit just right, glowing off the glass lampposts that lined the path, casting soft shadows along the mossy cobblestones.

I turned to Kyra. She fell into step beside me, unwrapping a melon bun like it was sacred treasure.

This part of the Academy grounds, the estate paths, looked different at night. Calm. Cozy. The chaos of battle and mentor breakdowns felt like distant dreams now. Crickets chirped softly somewhere in the grass, and the lamps gave off this gentle, pulsing gold light. Even the air felt cooler, like it'd just showered and put on fresh clothes.

Maybe it was the bag of food in my hand or the sugar rush from a soda, but I felt… good. Like actually good.

Kyra kept glancing at me.

I noticed. "What? You wanna say something?"

She shrugged. "Not really. It's just… this is the first time I've seen you fight."

"Oh yeah?"

She nodded, taking a slow bite of her bun before speaking again. "You looked… nice. Reliable. Like I could count on you."

I blinked. "Uh. Thanks. I gave it my best."

"I could tell." She paused, chewing. "Hey, Evan."

"Hm?"

"I hope we'll get to fight together more."

I smiled. "I hope so too. I mean, I can make money from it so—"

"Not because of that," she cut in.

I raised an eyebrow. "Then because of what?"

She slowed a bit, eyes drifting sideways toward me. There was something in her gaze. Not just casual friend talk. Something a little more serious. A little more… soft.

For a moment, I thought she was gonna confess something dramatic. Like she had a crush. Or she saw me as some hidden hero. Or maybe she just wanted me to help her farm dungeons later.

Then she said, "You seem… less perverted than the others. You look like a gentleman."

I choked on my drink. Full stop. Had to hold onto a lamp post.

"A gentleman?" I repeated once I could breathe again. "Me?"

She nodded, calm as ever. "Yeah. I mean, comparing to Callahan? You're practically a saint."

I started laughing. Couldn't help it. "Yeah, okay, fair. That man's too far gone. Desperate beyond salvation. I mean, he confessed to us he spends his weekends watching succubus p*rn and hugging a tissue box. He is our professor. That's something."

Kyra started laughing too. "The way he said it too. Like it was a tragic story monologue."

"I bet he's a virgin."

"Has to be."

"He's too powerful to be that desperate otherwise."

We laughed together for a solid ten seconds, just standing under the lamp, letting the sound echo softly down the path. It felt real. Not forced. Not awkward. Just… warm. Like a mini memory you'll accidentally smile about next week for no reason.

She finished her bun, dusted her hands off, then pointed to the left side of the estate gates.

"Well, this is me. My place's down that path."

I nodded. "Cool. I still need to walk further."

She gave a little wave. "Goodnight, Evan."

I smirked. "Goodnight, Kyra."

She disappeared down the path with a little hop in her step, humming to herself.

I turned and kept walking. Night air brushed across my face, cool and refreshing, ruffling my hair. I shifted the bags in my arms and started counting how many buns I had left.

And then…

He appeared.

Callahan.

Standing at the fork in the road like some kind of event trigger NPC. Arms crossed. His posture straight. His hair slightly windswept again like the Academy had a fan crew following him around for cinematic flair.

But something was different.

He looked… serious.

Like mentor serious.

Not "I just watched succubus clips and cried into tissue" serious.

I stopped. Brain immediately kicking into damage control.

What did I do?

Did I say something weird again?

Was I gonna get scolded for that 'virgin' joke?

I squinted at him. "I'm sorry I called you a virgin?"

He twitched. "What the hell?! That's not why I came!"

I blinked. "Oh. Then what?"

He stepped forward.

"You."

He pointed.

"How could you suddenly summon a barrier during the duel?"

I froze.

"I— what?"

"You don't have barrier spells before the match."

I scratched the back of my neck. "I mean, it just sorta… happened?"

"Bullshit."

He got closer.

"You cast a full Barrier spell. My Telekinesis power even couldn't pass through it. That's advanced magic. You can't just accidentally do that. And your system report didn't flag it either."

I felt sweat starting to form under my collar.

He narrowed his eyes.

"You awakened something. Who trained you?"

I looked around. No escape. No allies. Just a dozen buns and one very suspicious horny genius mentor glaring at me like I just grew wings. Well, I had wings, but they were hidden now.

I smiled.

Cringed.

Held it in.

But deep inside my soul?

I screamed.

'OH SHIT!'
