Verena wanted to die.
There was no other way to put it.
Being carried bridal-style by Clarina, who was sprinting full-speed like a horse possessed, was probably the most humiliating thing she'd experienced this week—and that included getting whacked in the face with a pillow.
As they sped down the corridor, Verena desperately tried to remember where the staff room even was.
Was it left at the courtyard? No, wait, past the Planetarium? Or was it tucked behind the East Tower where the creepy statue of that old headmaster was?
God, why was this school built like a damn maze?
For reference, the staff room was hidden away in the East Wing, just past the statue of some dead guy pointing ominously at a wall.
You had to pass three lecture halls, duck under the "No Entry" velvet rope (which everyone ignored anyway), and then climb up a ridiculous amount of spiraling stairs to find a very unimpressive wooden door labeled Faculty Only.
