Chapter 5 - Powerless

A massive fire raged fiercely in that area. Even from afar, the flames could be clearly seen.

XYZ_Richie swung his hand, and in an instant, the fire vanished with a single sweep.

"Don't think you can kill me that easily. There's a clear difference between us, boy. I'm a god. You're just a nobody!" With those words, he charged straight at Oath.

From his right hand, he summoned his massive sword once more from a black hole, just like before.

Oath braced himself for the incoming strike. A clash of power erupted between them.

"Such immense energy..."

The god's expression changed as he locked eyes with Oath.

"This kid's face... it's changed. What's going on?"

From within Oath, Maxwell's voice echoed,"Oath, on the count of three, activate Radiant Energy to knock him back. In that moment, take the chance to attack. Follow my lead!"

Oath and XYZ_Richie were locked in a struggle.

"1! 2! 3!"

With that command, Oath activated the skill.

Radiant EnergyA Logos Skill has been activated.

A glowing white energy circle emerged beneath Oath's feet, rapidly expanding. Instantly, his opponent lost balance and was thrown back.

"Now, Oath!"

Oath lunged forward. His spear was ready to pierce his foe.

"I won't be able to dodge that!"

The god tried to block with his sword. But Oath circled around him and struck from behind. Blue blood spilled out.

"Burn," Oath commanded.

A flash of flame burst forth, engulfing his opponent.

"Damn it!"

XYZ_Richie collapsed to the ground.

"If you kill a god, you'll suffer the consequences!"

"Burn," Oath muttered, recalling the face of Jisu's father.

The flames returned—flames of justice.

"Stop! I'll grant you a place above—"The sentence never finished.

"Burn," Oath said again, unleashing the same fire. The face of the village chief who had given him the spear appeared in his mind.

XYZ_Richie's condition worsened—his body charred.

"Please, please stop. I still want to live!" he began to beg.

Oath pulled his spear from the god's body.

The god grinned and slowly rose to his feet. Oath waited patiently.

"Fool!"A black hole appeared beneath Oath, meant to drag him in. But Oath had been floating in the air all along.

XYZ_Richie flinched. "Then I'll bring out my ultimate weapon!"

Something began to emerge from the black hole. But before it could fully appear, Oath slashed both of his opponent's raised hands. The severed limbs flew off—one of them falling into the black hole.

"Damn it!"

Oath then severed both of his legs. Now, the god was completely immobilized, unable to move. Still unsatisfied, Oath thrust his spear into the god's neck and tore off his head from the prosthetic body. The god's mouth could still speak, but his face was twisted in terror.

"You're a god, aren't you? Then prove it to me. Show me you're truly divine."Oath stabbed the god's neck-stump again, impaling the head on his spear—like a New Year's marshmallow.

"Burn. Burn. Burn!"

The flames surged violently. With that final attack, XYZ_Richie was defeated.

But at the end of the battle, there was no celebration, even though this was the strongest enemy Oath had ever faced.

He couldn't feel joy—only the emptiness of victory. He suddenly remembered Jisu.

He cried alone, because he truly was alone.
