The adventurers on the boats, surrounded by the dark spheres of light, all instinctively stood up.
Swish! Lightning fell from the sky, striking a tree of electricity in the surging black sea.
The flickering electric light, like slivers of silver snakes, scurried through the inky water.
The rain curtain, the surface of the sea, the gloomy depth of field that couldn't distinguish day from night, and the constantly flashing electric light were scattered by the raindrops and the sea, creating a glittering trail of lights in their vision.
The electric light disappeared from their sight.
But a dim sphere of light still stubbornly burned in their eyes.
It went from dim to clear, getting closer and closer.
They weren't flickering.
And it wasn't a flash of lightning.
—Just now, before Merna extinguished the Divine Strike Art on her hands, the dim yellow light spheres, which were exactly the same as the Divine Strike Art's light, which made people feel warm like a lantern about to go out in the wind, were hidden in the rain, the sea, and the flickering light of the electric arcs.
But everyone's attention was on the low-pressure Allen, so no one noticed the scene in the distance.
"Divine... Divine Strike Art?"
"I think so."
"Is that an adventurer team? Are they here to welcome us?"
"There are a lot of them... They're gathering the adventurers who were shipwrecked..."
An adventurer paused, then showed a look of joy. He stepped on the edge of the boat and shouted.
"Hey! Over here!! Over here!! Are you the adventurers who survived on the island? What's the situation on the island now?!"
His voice trembled in the wind and rain. Before it could travel a few meters, it was drowned out by the pouring rain.
However, the adventurers, who were a few dozen meters away, seemed to sense the urgency in his voice. They all swayed their hands, which held the light spheres of the Divine Strike Art, and headed towards the three small boats.
In the gloomy, flashing rain, these spheres of light gave them a sense of warmth, as if they were wanderers returning home.
This scene of a narrow escape seemed to make Merna a little dazed. She kept looking at Allen's face, then at the light spheres. Her eyes were blurred, and a faint look of joy appeared on her face.
Unlike her, the adventurers on Allen's boats were filled with excitement!
They saw that there were still a lot of adventurers who had survived. What the hell did that mean? That there were so many adventurers gathered on the beach. Did that mean they were about to leave the "Main Island"?
Or were they systematically gathering the shipwrecked adventurers to gather all their strength and attack the bottom of the S-rank dungeon?
It didn't matter.
The key was that this scene meant that the situation on the S-rank dungeon, the "Main Island," was not as bad as Allen had made it out to be. And there were still people with enough influence and strength to unite all the adventurers trapped on the main island.
These people had been trapped on the mountain for three months and were on the verge of going crazy. They knew very well that the person who could handle the situation and unite all the adventurers was a senior adventurer, probably a very prestigious person in the Adventurers' Guild.
He could keep Allen in check! And he could ensure everyone's safety!
"Hey, hey, hey!! Over here!! Over here!!"
"Look here!! We're here!!"
Listening to their eager invitation, the adventurers holding the lights of the Divine Strike Art also seemed very happy. They swayed their lights and came rushing over.
It was so warm.
It was reflected in Allen's eyes. He was about to stand up, but then he chuckled and sat back down on the boat. He let the excited adventurers beside him wave their arms, splashing the rainwater from the sky onto the protective cover created by the Flowing Water Secret Technique and then onto the boat.
He turned to look at Os and Leuf beside him.
The former's expression was a little blank. It seemed he couldn't believe the scene in front of him. He was trying to stand up, but out of consideration for Allen, he just stayed in a half-squatting position.
Leuf, on the other hand, was frowning, staring straight at Allen's face.
The latter glanced at the side of the boat, then rested his chin in his hand, looking at Os with interest.
He suddenly asked, "Os, do you think there are monsters in the sea?"
Os leaned on the side of the boat, looking at the approaching spheres of light. He answered instinctively.
"Monsters in the sea? There might be some in the deep sea, but they are the slaves of the Sea Folk, so they can't be called monsters..."
The spheres of light were getting closer and closer, swaying more and more happily, as if there were dancing light spheres on the sea. Os almost gave in to his impulse to reach out and touch one, but he resisted it. He watched the white light spheres drift past his face and towards Allen.
"Are you talking about the sea of the 'Archipelago'? There are no monsters in the sea, or why would the fishermen come here to fish?"
"Oh." Allen smiled at Os, then threw a beginner-level Wind Magic spell at his face. He pointed at his own face.
"Then what is this?"
"A dancer..." Os was stunned. The air in his brain was suddenly 'woken up' by the fresh air.
The scene in front of him changed.
In that instant, his pupils constricted into pinpoints.
The light from the lightning bolt illuminated his eyes, and what he saw was frozen in his eyes:
The fair arms that the dancer was waving were thick, jagged fangs that were silently opening up a one-meter-deep mouth, trying to swallow Allen's entire head.
The dancer's dark, square-shaped lace skirt, in the sudden light of the lightning, turned into black tumors with shimmering mucus. Os even saw his own horrified face.
The next instant, the 'face' moved.
With a squelching sound, the tumor-like mouth opened up, and a grey, meaty eyeball the size of Os's face stared straight at him.
Thump! His heart even stopped for an instant.
Os suddenly shouted, "Be careful!!" But the moment his lips parted, Allen just lowered his head, twisted, and moved his head out of the way of the mouth.
His dynamic vision, which was running on adrenaline, returned to normal! A black shadow brushed past the two of them! The fishy smell barely passed by Os's and Allen's faces. Accompanied by the sound of bones being separated from flesh, the shadow, along with the glowing orb on its head, dove into the water with a plop.
A line of blood streaked through the rain. The head of an adventurer on the boat rolled onto the deck.
The adventurers on the boat were all stunned. They turned to look at Allen.
The lower half of the adventurer, who was cut in half at the waist, was still standing beside Allen. The rotting flesh at his waist was gushing with blood. Then, with a thump, he fell onto the boat. His intestines and internal organs, mixed with the rain, flowed all over the ship.
His body, from the neck to the waist, was bitten off.
Allen, surrounded by 'lanterns,' smiled at the adventurers. The adventurers, on the other hand, were in a daze, looking at the corpse on the ship. The change that happened in a flash seemed to have left everyone in a state of confusion.
Clang! The blade was unsheathed!! The dream was over!!
Os sliced his sword in the air, pushing back another shadow that was coming from the sea. He focused his gaze.
There were no other adventurers or dancers around them.
The glowing, orb-like pieces of flesh were all pulsing like hearts and being held up by black tentacles. They were emitting a fragrant smell.
And the two monsters that had just retreated were now floating in the water. One of them, with a lamp-like orb on its head, was chewing on the half-eaten corpse, its teeth shimmering in the light. The other, which had failed to catch its prey, was staring at Os with a one-meter-wide, grey, fleshy eye.
Each of them was two meters long, pitch-black, and covered in mucus.
Allen looked at the two monsters, then tilted his head to look at Os.
"They seem to know you. Do you know what they are?"
"Ah!!!!"
The heartbreaking wailing of his companions was accompanied by Allen's voice. Os had no time to respond. He glanced at the adventurer with a missing hand on the neighboring boat and the two corpses that were gushing blood.
Even so, some people were still dazed and were trying to get closer to the 'light spheres.'
Os roared, "Wake up!! Those are monsters!! Wake up!! The 'Main Island' dungeon has expanded to the sea!! There are monsters in the water!! The light spheres are baiting organs!! They emit a fragrance that will confuse you! They will lure you in with your deepest desires and catch you!! For the love of God, wake up!!"
This furious roar sent the three small boats into chaos. Some drew their swords, some grabbed paddles, some wailed, and some reached for the 'light spheres.'
It was a chaotic mess.
They even lost two more people with low combat skills.
Allen sat on the boat the entire time, without moving. Perhaps it was because his first attack failed, but the monsters seemed to have lost interest in the 'delicious' ship Allen was on. They intentionally avoided attacking it.
Allen glanced at Os, who was looking furious and swinging his sword.
It was clear that Os had no idea what these sea monsters were called. Even so, he had, with his extensive experience as an adventurer, figured out their basic characteristics in an instant.
He truly was a seasoned adventurer. He was not chosen as the leader of the mountaintop for nothing. The captain's position in his annihilated adventurer team was also not for nothing.
Based on his judgment, the reason these monsters appeared was that the 'Main Island' dungeon had expanded to the sea. But even so, it should have been on the outskirts. How could the fish have mutated so quickly, and to such a powerful degree?
If this continued, at least a quarter of these people would die, if not more.
Allen remembered the mana vortex on the island that could spawn 'Specters.' He quickly asked Os.
"It seems you don't recognize these monsters either. Based on your experience, what level are they?"
Os sliced a monster with his sword, saying through gritted teeth, "Their attack power isn't strong, but their baiting magic is! A single one is C-rank. In a group, they're B-rank! But in this weather, they are definitely A-rank or higher!" As he spoke, he quickly glanced at Allen. After a moment of hesitation, he started yelling again.
It seemed he did not dare to ask Allen for help.
After all, Allen had already saved him once.
But even in this situation, there were still people on Allen's ship who were struggling with the illusions.
He looked ahead. Leuf and Klem were both breathing heavily, looking frightened of the 'light spheres.' He didn't know what they were seeing in their illusions.
Allen looked at Klem's face, then at Merna's.
The former Holy Maiden's eyes were still fixed on the 'light spheres' on the heads of the monsters that were circling the ship, looking for an opportunity. Her face was even more dazed.
Snap.
Allen snapped his fingers. A thick gust of wind emanated from his fingertips. In an instant, it pushed away the rain curtain around him!
It forcefully dispersed the tempting, strange aroma within a ten-meter radius!
The chilly rain, which had been frozen in the air for a moment, fell on everyone's faces. Everyone sobered up and, in a state of shock, fought back the monsters. They then looked at Allen with lingering fear and quickly paddled towards the beach.
Leuf and Klem also woke up. The two of them looked at each other, then at the monsters that were biting at the ship. After a moment of shock, their faces grew grim, and they drew their swords.
Just then.
"Ah!!!!"
A piercing scream! Merna's eyes cleared up. She looked at the ferocious monsters. She kicked her legs and looked around. Seeing Allen looking at her in surprise, she stumbled, then leaped...
...into Allen's arms.
The sight of this stunned Leuf and Klem.
Then, they saw Allen casually throw Merna back onto the ship.
Leuf: ...
Klem:
The two of them looked at Merna, who was sitting on the ground with an embarrassed expression. They turned to look at the monsters that were following the ship. They no longer swarmed the ship but followed behind, looking for an opportunity.
Leuf sheathed his sword, looking confused. He stood in the rain, not knowing what to think.
Klem, on the other hand, came to Allen's side to thank him.
Soon, the ship reached the beach.
The adventurers all fell off the ship and onto the sand. Amidst Os's loud shouts of "Be on guard," they checked the beach. They found no monsters on the beach, and the sea monsters had disappeared into the rain. Only then did they all collapse on the ground.
"We're saved... we're saved..."
"It was Lord Allen... Thank you, Lord Allen, for your help..."
Although their words sounded sincere, Allen did not even bother to respond.
At this point, the 'adventurer team' of nearly thirty people had six people dead.
The rain grew heavier.
