Chapter 211: Impure World Reincarnation Technique

Hidden Cloud Village, Ninjutsu Chamber.

The bodies of the two Hidden Cloud Anbu guards who had been taken out lay slumped at the doorway, blood trailing from the open door all the way inside.

"Lightning Release Chakra Mode… interesting…"

Orochimaru was holding a scroll, his golden pupils flickering constantly as he read.

This wasn't the first time he had broken into a ninjutsu chamber to steal forbidden techniques—he'd done it back when he was still in Konoha.

So by now, it was practically second nature to him.

Sure enough, he had found something here that caught his interest.

But clearly, this wasn't the best place to leisurely appreciate and study forbidden jutsu.

After storing the scroll in his hand along with a few others he had carefully picked out, Orochimaru was about to leave this troublesome place.

But just then, he suddenly felt a wave of danger wash over him.

It was as if something terrifying had already set its sights on him, leaving no way to escape.

Orochimaru's expression tightened, his body freezing up as every hair on his body stood on end in that instant.

Suspicious and uneasy, he glanced over his shoulder.

Somehow, without him noticing, a man was now standing at the doorway.

"Uchiha Dali…"

Orochimaru spoke the name without thinking.

Whether it was the familiar chakra presence or that half-smiling figure staring at him, there was no mistaking the man's identity.

"Long time no see, Orochimaru."

Leaning casually against the doorframe, Uchiha Dali regarded the genius before him with interest.

Orochimaru, however, let his eyes shift slightly as he tried to guess what Dali's purpose for coming here might be.

"I doubt you're here for these forbidden techniques," Orochimaru probed.

"I came specifically to find you."

"Find me?"

Orochimaru was slightly taken aback, his heart growing more uneasy.

The fact that he was a rogue ninja from Konoha was obviously no secret to Dali.

And if Dali was now the Fourth Hokage of Konoha, then today's situation might not end well for him…

Orochimaru wasn't foolish enough to think he could take Uchiha Dali head-on.

He began plotting an escape.

A small white snake silently slid down from his pant leg, heading for a gap between the bookshelves. But just before it slipped inside, it suddenly caught fire.

Within moments, the snake was reduced to ash.

Orochimaru's brow tightened with a flash of pain as cold sweat ran down his face.

"What do you want from me?"

Seeing no hope of escape, Orochimaru could only choose to yield.

"You stole the Forbidden Scroll from Konoha's Ninjutsu Chamber, didn't you?"

Dali got straight to the point.

Orochimaru blinked in surprise at his words.

His pupils flickered once before he admitted, "Yes, I took it."

"Hand it over."

Dali extended his hand.

Though still unsure of the man's real intentions, Orochimaru didn't resist. He obediently opened his mouth and spat out the Forbidden Scroll he had swallowed into his stomach earlier.

"Could you be any more disgusting…"

Dali's face twisted in distaste. Seeing the scroll dripping with slimy stomach fluids, he instantly lost all interest in flipping through it.

Orochimaru, however, remained deadly serious, cold sweat beading on his forehead as his eyes stayed fixed on Dali's every move.

He set the Forbidden Scroll on the ground and stepped back two paces. "Can I leave now?"

"You want to leave?"

"There's a forbidden technique in this scroll called Impure World Reincarnation. Use it now and show me."

Dali ordered.

Orochimaru's face shifted in surprise at hearing the name of the jutsu.

"Heh…"

He chuckled.

Perhaps he thought Dali, like himself, had once snuck into Konoha's chamber to secretly study the Forbidden Scroll's contents.

But Dali offered no explanation.

"To perform Impure World Reincarnation, you need a living person as a sacrifice. If you want to see it, we'll need an appropriate one first…" Orochimaru regained his composure.

He had a vague idea of what Dali was after.

It was obvious the man bore him no current hostility—otherwise, given his strength, Dali would have acted already.

"Will those two do?"

Dali's gaze shifted to the still-warm bodies of the two Hidden Cloud Anbu at the door.

Orochimaru froze for a moment, staring at him in surprise.

He hadn't actually considered using someone who wasn't quite dead yet as a sacrifice.

"What a cold, heartless man."

Muttering inwardly, Orochimaru didn't say more. "I can give it a try."

He stepped toward one of the corpses and set up the reincarnation formula that would summon a soul.

Then, following the hand seals and special chakra flow unique to Impure World Reincarnation, he began performing the mysterious jutsu.

As a light flared, the summoning array's markings appeared on the ground—only to fade away moments later along with the glow.

Instead, the once-lifeless Anbu began to change.

Since this was on short notice, Orochimaru used a body part from another Hidden Cloud ninja as the intended target for reincarnation.

Before long, the Anbu's body seemed to shed its skin layer by layer, rapidly transforming.

In the end, it became an Impure World Reincarnated corpse, exuding a deathly aura, its eyes empty and dull, its body covered in cracks—yet similar in height and build to the other fallen Anbu.

"The three conditions for Impure World Reincarnation: First, you must have a part of the person's body you wish to revive. Second, their soul must be in the Pure Land—if it's sealed, they can't be revived. Third, every summoning requires a living or not-quite-dead person as a sacrifice—or rather, a vessel."

"Only when these three are met can the technique be used."

Without waiting for Dali to ask, Orochimaru explained on his own.

Some of this knowledge came from the Forbidden Scroll, while other parts he had learned through personal experimentation—such as the use of someone not yet dead as a sacrifice, something he had just confirmed.

Hearing this, Dali nodded in satisfaction.

And right at that moment, a system notification sounded in his head.
