Chapter 369 - Chapter 368: The Mini Six-Tails

Chapter 368: The Mini Six-Tails

In Iwagakure, Ishiro went alone to the Anbu's secret laboratory.

The Anbu's secret lab conducted a wide range of research, including the development of ninjutsu of various elemental natures and the study of the Sharingan and Byakugan. Even Yoshimura Kazumasa's development of hand seals was carried out here.

The previous White Zetsu clone experiments had been conducted in a completely sealed room nearby. The village was still conducting a small number of White Zetsu clone experiments, but most were limited to the analysis of White Zetsu cells.

However, Ishiro hadn't come here for these things. He was here for the fragment of the Gedo Statue.

Back then, Ishiro had used his Light Release to cut a small piece of scrap material from the Gedo Statue in the underground chamber where Madara Uchiha had been hiding. After bringing it back to the village, the Anbu had tried to study it, just as they had with the White Zetsu clone. But unfortunately, with the strength of the Anbu researchers, they couldn't even cut the Gedo Statue fragment. After some analysis, they concluded that this thing could not be studied in the Anbu lab, and so the fragment was sealed away.

Ishiro had only been here a few times and wasn't very familiar with the Anbu lab, so he had pulled Yoshimura Kazumasa, who was currently researching how to make ninja cats perform hand seals, to act as his guide.

"Let me see the results of your recent research," Ishiro said to Yoshimura Kazumasa.

Ishiro placed a good deal of importance on Kazumasa's research. Hand seals were something that affected the vast majority of ninjutsu users. So, whenever Kazumasa researched anything, Ishiro would immediately check it to determine if it had value for promotion throughout the village. And as it happened, over the past two years, Kazumasa had indeed produced some results.

First was one-handed seals. Ishiro's own one-handed seals had great limitations, mainly being applicable to jutsu he was extremely proficient in. His ability to perform one-handed seals relied most on his control over his chakra; the hand seals themselves did not form a complete system. But under Kazumasa's research, the various forms of one-handed seals had been completed. It could be said that Kazumasa had theoretically made it possible for one-handed seals to completely replace two-handed ones.

But this was only in theory. Because the difficulty was too high, even a master of chakra control like Ishiro had not been able to learn it. It had no value for widespread implementation.

However, Kazumasa had another achievement: simplified hand seals. Under his research, simplified hand seals were on the verge of becoming a complete system. This was a very important achievement. If Kazumasa truly succeeded, then the average number of hand seals required for Iwa ninja to perform jutsu could be reduced. This was a major piece of research that could genuinely enhance the overall strength of Iwagakure. In fact, although Kazumasa hadn't finished his research, Ishiro was already testing it among some of the village's elite jonin, with excellent results.

Hearing Ishiro's question, Kazumasa gave a wry smile. "Master Ishiro, my simplified hand seals have run into a few difficulties. It just so happened that Himeki asked me to help research a method for ninja cats to perform hand seals. I thought I might gain some inspiration by analogy, so I've put the previous research on hold and am now working on the ninja cat seals."

Ishiro knew about this; he was the one who had suggested Himeki Suda go to Kazumasa. So he asked, "Then has there been any result from the ninja cat seal research?"

Kazumasa smiled wryly again. "The method for ninja cat seals itself is not actually difficult. Although a cat's body is different from a ninja's, it's not too troublesome to figure out. The problem is that a cat's paws are not flexible enough, so they can't form the seals at all."

Ishiro was taken aback, then laughed out loud. That's right, controlling a cat's paws was too difficult. To think of them moving as flexibly as a ninja's to form hand seals was simply fantastic.

"So what do you plan to do?" Ishiro asked curiously.

Kazumasa said, "I plan to utilize the flexibility of the cat's body, to have the cat complete a process similar to hand seals through the movements of its body and limbs. But I haven't succeeded yet."

Ishiro recalled Jiraiya from the original story using his feet to form hand seals. Perhaps this could actually succeed.

"Keep up the good work. If possible, do some more research and see if it can be implemented on ninja as well," Ishiro said after a moment's thought.

"Mm," Kazumasa agreed. "Master Ishiro, the warehouse is just ahead."

"Lord Tsuchikage." The chunin guarding the warehouse and a full Anbu squad protecting it immediately came forward to salute when they saw Ishiro approaching.

Ishiro nodded at them, then told the chunin what he needed. Before long, the chunin brought back the Gedo Statue fragment.

Kazumasa glanced at it curiously. He didn't recognize it but didn't ask any questions. His master always liked to tinker with such strange things.

Ishiro took the Gedo Statue fragment and left the Anbu research lab, arriving at a clearing outside the village's sensory barrier. He had an Anbu squad stand guard in the surroundings.

Looking at the Gedo Statue fragment, and then at the Six-Tails' chakra in the gourd at his waist, Ishiro began his preparations.

That's right, Ishiro planned to find a new home for the Six-Tails' chakra. Out of caution, he did not intend to become a Jinchuriki himself. But if he didn't, this small amount of Six-Tails' chakra would slowly dissipate. When he had extracted it last time, because the extracted chakra contained Utakata's life force, it had also retained some of the Six-Tails' own life force. That was how the chakra was barely kept from dissipating. But this was not a long-term solution; this rootless source would eventually scatter.

Under these circumstances, the best course of action for Ishiro was actually to find a new Jinchuriki for this portion of the Tailed Beast's chakra. By allowing the Six-Tails' life force within this chakra to fuse with a new Jinchuriki, it might be preserved. Just like Sora, the son of Kazuma from the original story; the Nine-Tails' chakra that Kazuma had obtained contained a good deal of the Nine-Tails' life force, and this life force fused with Sora, successfully preserving that chakra.

But the chances were probably not high. Utakata's bit of life force couldn't compare to Kushina Uzumaki's at all. The chakra Ishiro had on hand was certainly far inferior to the Nine-Tails' chakra within Sora's body.

So, Ishiro thought of the Gedo Statue. He wondered if sealing the chakra containing some of the Six-Tails' life force into the Gedo Statue fragment would give him a chance to preserve it. After all, the Tailed Beasts all came from the Ten-Tails. Putting the two together might produce a special change.

A long time later, Ishiro finished his preparations. He then undid the seal on the gourd at his waist, and the Six-Tails' chakra within immediately rushed out.

Ishiro formed a hand seal. The sealing formula previously carved into the ground activated, immediately controlling the Six-Tails' chakra and moving it towards the Gedo Statue fragment. As expected, the Six-Tails' chakra did not directly merge with the fragment as Ishiro had optimistically hoped. Seeing this, Ishiro immediately used a Jinchuriki sealing jutsu, sealing the Six-Tails' chakra into the Gedo Statue fragment as if it were a human body.

Ishiro found a place in the center of the fragment and sealed the chakra there.

After the sealing was complete, Ishiro waited for a while and found no problems, only then did he breathe a sigh of relief. The Gedo Statue was truly magical. Ishiro couldn't even tell if it was dead or alive. Logically, a Tailed Beast could not be sealed into an inanimate object using a Jinchuriki sealing method. But somehow, Ishiro had succeeded.

Then, Ishiro sent his consciousness into the sealing space within the Gedo Statue fragment.

The Six-Tails' chakra that had just been sealed was still in a violent state, rampaging around the sealing space. Ishiro paid it no mind and waited quietly. After a while, the chakra calmed down and slowly gathered together. But even after gathering, it remained a formless mass of chakra. It had not taken on the appearance of the Six-Tails as Ishiro had hoped.

Ishiro sighed. It was still a failure. This meant that this portion of the Six-Tails' chakra would diminish with every use and would eventually be squandered. And even if it wasn't used, the Six-Tails' life force within it would slowly dissipate.

Just as Ishiro was preparing to withdraw from the sealing space, the mass of Six-Tails' chakra actually began to move again. It came to the edge of the sealing space, as if it was absorbing something from outside the seal.

A thought struck Ishiro. His consciousness immediately withdrew from the sealing space, and he quickly turned his gaze to the Gedo Statue fragment.

Sure enough, there was a change. The originally hard Gedo Statue fragment had begun to soften. Ishiro sensed it and found that some kind of energy within the fragment seemed to be slowly disappearing. Was it being absorbed by the Six-Tails' chakra?

After a moment's thought, Ishiro began to channel his own chakra into the Gedo Statue fragment to slow down its energy loss, acting as an energy source.

After a while, another thought struck Ishiro. The changes in the Gedo Statue fragment seemed to have stopped.

Ishiro's heart leaped with joy, and he hurriedly entered the sealing space.

"Hahahaha, the Six-Tails!" At this moment, a very mini Six-Tails was lying quietly in the sealing space with its eyes closed.

After a brief moment of excitement, Ishiro began to observe this mini Six-Tails.

Unlike the previous state of chakra, the feeling the mini Six-Tails gave Ishiro was not much different from a real Tailed Beast in essence, only that there was a huge difference in quantity.

Ishiro walked closer to this Six-Tails, which was half his size in this sealing space, and reached out a finger to poke it. It felt soft; it was a solid entity.

At this moment, the Six-Tails also opened its eyes and looked curiously at Ishiro.

Looking into the Six-Tails' eyes, a thought stirred in Ishiro's heart. Could it be that this Six-Tails has no memory of before?

After thinking for a moment, Ishiro tentatively called out, "Saiken?"

"How do you know my name?" the Six-Tails asked curiously.

Ishiro blinked. "You've forgotten? I'm the one who rescued you from the Mist ninja. They sealed you inside a Jinchuriki, and I was the one who extracted you. It's just a pity that I was only able to extract a part of your main body."

"Is that so? What's a Jinchuriki?" the Six-Tails asked curiously.

This mini Six-Tails seemed to have only fragmented memories. Ishiro's heart settled a little, and he continued to explain, "A Jinchuriki, that is a cage for you Tailed Beasts. Most of you don't like Jinchuriki. Only a very few Jinchuriki are able to gain your recognition."
