"Since we're going to be in the same class, I'll be generous," Issah continued with self-importance. "Apologize for breaking my sword, and I'll let this go."
He knew swinging a weapon at another student was already against the rules. If he used his magic now, it could ruin his future.
But as a noble, pride still came before reason.
Zane didn't respond. He simply stared at Issah, face unreadable.
The silence stretched, feeding the tension in the air.
Whispers followed.
"He's just trying to save face."
"Shh! Don't provoke the guy. He's already picked the wrong opponent."
"Hmph. Serves him right."
Zane stayed calm, but Issah clearly wasn't built for ridicule.
"Last chance," Issah bellowed. "Apologize—now!"
