Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Knight's Roundtable

Darius sat down on the seat opposite to this man.

He knew well who he was facing. It was the supreme commander of Grandstate.

His name was Gordon Stone: The Titan of Grandstate. He was the owner of the building they currently resided.

Darius was always on edge around anyone and this man especially was of considerable danger to him.

"Lighten up Darius, the meeting hasn't even begun."

Gordon tried to make small talk but it was clear Darius's expression didn't care.

"Well, I'd like to ask what motivated you to set up this meeting before it begins."

"It took you three years to find the one day we all met up like this."

With his eyes now intently on Darius, he asked.

"Surely it can't have been for that mutation of yours, could it?"

"You will address my child with his name or honourific, not mutation."

Darius stared back at Gordon with an intent that showed he was not backing down.

"You broke the pact for a child. You of all people should know what that could've meant for Everheart."

"And I still did it, what's your point?"

"World order was at risk.. that's my point."

Darius closed his eyes before smiling, which deeply unsettled Gordon before opening them again.

"First, that pact was made by my own father, I have every right to get rid off it. Second, you have several mutated humans living in your walls. What's with that?"

Gordon squinted his eyes at Darius for a moment before answering.

"No point in lying i suppose, their weapons for my army.. simple."

"Now who's in the wrong side of what should have been a moral argument?"

Darius smirked before returning to his neutral expression studying Gordon for a while.

"Not surprised though. You did send assassins after my child."

"That wasn't me, i promise you."

Gordon answered with an annoyed expression. It showed this wasn't the first time the subject was brought up.

"I don't believe you."

"And I don't care."

The tension in the room was extremely about to get physical when someone walked in.

They had slicked back silver hair, pale white skin and wore a decorative white suit. They hade an eye glass and brown eyes.

The moment they stepped in, the tension disappeared and it seemed like it was never there to begin with.

"Greetings, King Darius and Commander Gordon. I hope I'm not late."

"Welcome, King Adrian, your not late by any means. How is the Kingdom of Alduin?."

Gordon spoke as Darius merely nodded towards Adrian.

He sat on the right chair between Gordon and Darius facing the last empty chair.

"I don't mean to be rude, but where is the freeloader?."

"That is being rude."

Darius answered and Gordon added.

"Don't worry about it, he'll be here.. eventually."

"Shall we start without him then?"

"Sur-"

Adrian couldn't help but ask and as Gordon attempted to answer, the last person finally arrived.

He had blonde hair and had golden eyes. He had wore a casual blue shirt and black shorts.

He walked towards his seat and sat there as if it were his to begin without addressing anyone.

"Leon, it's nice to see you."

"No need to lie to a man who just arrived Adrian. Be yourself for once, Sheesh."

Adrian was grinding his teeth but appeared to the rest like he was politely smiling with his mouth closed.

"Welcome Sir Leon Sunblade. We were just about to begin."

Gordon addressed the last Knight King. He was Leon Sunblade, the youngest knight king in history.

Together all four of them were the strongest dreamknights in the world.

Darius Everheart, Adrian Stormbrave, Gordon Stone and Leon Sunblade. The guardians of humanity had gathered together today.

"So, tell me chief, what are we all gathered here for?."

Leon asked first seeing everyone had settled. Gordon made a gesture towards Darius.

"He'll explain to you what's going on."

Darius stared at Gordon for a minute before addressing everyone.

"I wish for us to attempt another campaign to take over central Alteria."

"Why would you of all people take an interest in crossing into Central Alteria, when we have to fund so many resources to keep the south?."

Adrian was extremely curious to understand Darius's reasoning. The south they all inhabited was at a constant danger year after year of collapsing from just the slightest negligence.

Grandstate took on the head force of all these attacks, which made them the most strongest nation by constantly being Humanities shield.

"Of course I know you wouldn't suggest this without a solution. So what is it?."

Darius studied Adrian for a good moment, out of everyone here, he was the most untrustworthy.

"I have spent a long amount of time scouting that region. If we attempt it now, our chances of success are more than fifty percent."

The others payed closer attention and began wondering why he would say that.

"That's great and all but you didn't answer his question."

Always the person to speak his mind,Leon spoke dispelling the silence in the room.

Darius was trying to build a sense of excitement in the room and Leon might have ruined that.

Sighing, he just spoke his discoveries.

"While looking for my child, I tracked the patterns of a hord of Screeches. The nightmares all had a mark on a body.. and yes imean all of them."

He looked around the room to find everyone paying high attention. It was very unusual for all the diverse characters to be in sync.

"You all know what hord I'm talking about. The problem is that the mark was almost impossible to perceive if I wasn't as close as I was."

Adrian widened his eyes as he sank into the back of his chair with a look of realisation.

"You don't mean to say that if it's the same exact mark, all of them are-"

Adrian stopped and showed a troubled expression as laughter suddenly was heard.

"I'm looking forward to this, do you know how bored I've been these couple of years."

Leon spoke with a smile of pure excitement as if he were a child who was promised a toy.

Gordon had a smirk on his face as Darius kept his own neutral as always.

"Well then, I guess what we need to discuss now is how we will go about this offensive?."

After Gordon said this, they all immediately began discussions of how to proceed.

After discussions, they decided to bring up another new but obvious issue.

The mutations.
