The instant he pulled off the blindfold, Renlo expected bright and overwhelming light to engulf his eye. In fact, he had squinted his eyes exactly because of this reason.
But there was no light threatening to blind him. He was met with a dim, practically dark room.
Renlo couldn't understand why the stench became heavier the instant he removed the blindfold.
But one glance around, and he realized where the smell was coming from. His assumption had been right.
He was inside a large, dark room, filled with numerous weird looking figures, all gazing at him with trembling and cautious eyes.
They were filthy and covered in dirt. From their appearance alone, Renlo could tell they hadn't bathed in a long while.
Renlo shakily sat up straight. His body was still sore, and pain surged through him at any movement he made. Still, he shoved down the pain and forced himself to stand.
The other figures in the room had begun whispering now, but that was the least of Renlo's concerns.
