Kara's thoughts raced as the Alpha stood before her, its piercing gaze unrelenting. She felt exposed, as though the wolf could see through her—into her fears, her anger, her uncertainty.

The other wolves gathered around, forming a loose circle. Some stood silently, their heads bowed in deference to the Alpha, while others exchanged wary glances. It was clear they weren't just a pack; they were a community.

"Kara," Rox said, his voice low but firm. "You should bow."

"Bow?" she repeated, her brow furrowing.

"It's a sign of respect. The Alpha saved us, and it's acknowledging you."

For a moment, Kara hesitated. She wasn't used to submitting to anyone—not after years of fighting to stand her ground. But something about the Alpha's presence demanded more than defiance. It deserved her trust.

Slowly, she dropped to one knee, her head bowing. Around her, the other wolves rumbled their approval, a sound that felt more like an embrace than a threat.
