Chapter 161 - Chapter 158: Devouring the Angel (1/2)

Ever since he was ambushed by that Star Hunter Society spy, Lynn knew that the aura of a "Blasphemer" would attract trouble.

Thus, he had always used the Spirit of Azure Sky to seal away any traces of his "Blasphemer" aura, never actively releasing it unless necessary.

And now was precisely one of those moments he needed to release his "Blasphemer" aura to draw in the members of the Star Hunter Society.

Boom!

As various aura-sealing techniques dissipated, a unique energy burst forth, instantly drawing the attention of all the Star Hunter Society members!

In that instant, every single one of them turned their gaze toward Lynn. Their pupils contracted sharply, their eyes filled with both fury and murderous intent.

Almost simultaneously, flashes of spellcasting erupted, magic formations materialized, and the violent surge of energy distorted the very air!

The moment Lynn exposed his "Blasphemer" aura, he got exactly what he wanted an onslaught of terrifying attacks!

"Second-Circle Spell Dragon Breath!"

One of the Second-Circle mages was the first to react. Clasping his hands together, he conjured a phantom dragon head in midair. The dragon's face was fierce, its eyes wide with rage.

The next moment, the dragon head opened its massive maw, spewing forth a torrent of searing flames mixed with lethal toxins, erupting like molten lava. The attack scorched the air, sending waves of intense heat rolling outward!

The flames, laced with both poison and searing power, carried an energy intensity of seventy degrees, hurtling toward Lynn like a falling meteor.

Everything in the fire's path blackened and cracked, emitting toxic smoke. Even solid rock melted under the extreme heat, turning into magma!

"Third-Circle Spell Mayov's Micro-Meteors!"

Another mage chanted loudly, and in the sky above, six miniature meteors suddenly appeared, twinkling like stars against the night sky. They floated and revolved in place, radiating terrifying energy fluctuations.

These meteors weren't ordinary space debris but rather condensed masses of raw destructive energy!

After circling the mage a few times, they shot toward Lynn with blinding speed!

Each meteor carried an energy intensity of twenty degrees. If they all exploded at once, the resulting destruction would be apocalyptic, reducing everything within a hundred-meter radius to rubble!

"Fourth-Circle Spell Laurashim's Mind Lance!"

Lynn felt the air suddenly freeze.

A Fourth-Circle mage raised a hand and pointed forward, a gleaming blue psychic sigil appearing on his forehead.

In the next instant, a solid, steel-like lance of pure psychic energy shot out from his forehead, shimmering with an icy glow as it locked onto Lynn.

The terrifying thing about the Mind Lance wasn't its sheer destructive power, but rather its unique effect that it never misses.

Once it locked onto a target within its range, no matter how one tried to evade it, there was no escape.

The lance, infused with an overwhelming energy intensity of eighty degrees, hurtled toward Lynn's heart like the scythe of Death itself!

The sudden barrage of attacks rained down on Lynn like a violent storm!

Even though he had been prepared for this, his heart still pounded, and a bead of sweat formed at the tip of his nose.

Taking a deep breath, he swiftly activated the permanent wizardry imprint on his body Void Tranquility!

"Hoo…"

A faint silver glow emerged on Lynn's body, soft yet unyielding, flowing like ripples of water and enveloping him completely.

The shield was as clear as crystal, yet it emitted a subtle, chilling radiance.

In an instant, Lynn's mental energy drained by twenty points, but in return, he gained an impenetrable protective barrier with a strength of eighty degrees!

Since the permanent wizardry imprint was embedded in his magical framework, it still required mental energy to activate, but the cost was significantly reduced to only half of what it would normally take.

Under normal circumstances, casting Void Tranquility would require at least forty points of mental energy to sustain such a formidable shield.

But Lynn, thanks to his optimized magical template, only needed half just twenty points to maintain the shield's integrity.

In the realm of wizardry formulas, the conversion rate between mental energy and magical power typically followed a one-to-two ratio. On the surface, this conversion seemed neither wasteful nor particularly advantageous just plain and ordinary.

However, Void Tranquility was anything but ordinary.

Its protective field extended beyond just the physical body it shielded both the mind and the spirit!

Because of this, the Mind Lance, which boasted an unavoidable nature, was suddenly rendered far less dangerous when it entered Void Tranquility's shielding domain.

The icy sensation that should have pierced straight into Lynn's soul was completely blocked by the silver barrier, unable to penetrate even an inch.

But this was not Lynn's only line of defense!

He also had the Innate Gift bestowed by Yfgríd Echo of Vitality!

Buzz!

A faint green radiance spread across Lynn's body, instantly expanding outward, forming the illusion of an ancient, towering tree. Its branches and leaves swayed gently, lush with vibrant life.

This phantom tree rooted itself in the void, transforming life energy into an indestructible barrier, shielding Lynn beneath its vast canopy.

Unlike Void Tranquility, which required mental energy to sustain, Echo of Vitality was an inherent permanent wizardry imprint from Yfgríd.

Though it had a cooldown period, it provided a staggering one hundred degrees of defensive power, forming a nearly indestructible life barrier.

At that moment, the Star Hunter Society's assault finally descended upon him!

Boom!

The first strike to land was the Second Circle Spell Dragon Breath.

The ferocious dragon head spewed forth flames and toxins, engulfing Lynn in a wave of scorching heat.

However, the flames and poison were like mere embers against flourishing vines the Echo of Vitality's barrier stood firm, undisturbed, absorbing the full impact without even a single ripple.

The very next moment, the six miniature meteors arrived, streaking through the sky like shooting stars, crashing toward Lynn!

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

A deafening series of explosions shook the heavens, their shockwaves rolling out like an unstoppable tidal wave, bathing the battlefield in a sea of fire.

The simultaneous detonation of all six meteors unleashed a staggering one hundred and twenty degrees of impact force, warping the very fabric of space!

Yet, in that critical instant, Lynn's Gray Hawk Armor activated.

His body twisted and weaved, moving with the agility of a falcon navigating a storm, evading the brunt of the destruction with breathtaking precision.

Amidst the explosions and shockwaves, the energy was weakened significantly, and in the end, only about sixty percent of the force struck the Echo of Vitality.

The Echo of Vitality remained standing. Though it trembled slightly, it did not collapse.

However, the green halo surrounding it gradually dimmed, and cracks began to faintly appear within the shimmering light.

Yet, forty percent of the remaining energy still penetrated through, surging directly toward Lynn's body!

Whoosh!

At that moment, Lynn let out a low cry, and a crimson glow emerged from his chest, blooming like a flower about to blossom in full splendor.

It was the protective barrier of the Heart of Floral Language!

The petal-like shield unfolded in a dazzling display, resembling a bizarre yet magnificent flower in full bloom, standing between Lynn and the oncoming force.

The violent shockwave slammed against the barrier, causing the petals to quiver, swaying like flowers in a storm.

In the end, though the shield shattered instantly, it successfully blocked the remaining forty percent of the energy.

The air was thick with the lingering echoes of the explosion and the scent of scorching heat. The ground had fractured into pieces, dust billowed, and flames blazed into the sky.

Amidst the drifting smoke and lingering firelight, scattered debris continued to roll, and the scorching air still swirled outward.

However, within this scene of devastation and ruin, the final, soul-piercing spear suddenly descended carrying a chilling aura sharp enough to tear through the spirit aimed straight at Lynn's forehead!

Buzz!

At that critical moment, a faint silver glow surfaced on Lynn's forehead, rippling outward like gentle waves spreading across a tranquil lake, completely swallowing the formless spear.

That silver radiance was none other than the protection of Void Tranquility.

The moment the attack touched the silver light, it was as if an invisible force had dissolved it completely. The spear dissipated into nothingness as if it had never existed.

The threat of a Fourth Circle Spell was thus effortlessly neutralized.

Lynn remained standing in place, his expression calm and composed, his hair gently floating amid the dying embers.

Three consecutive attacks escalating in strength from a Second-Circle to a Third-Circle and finally a Fourth-Circle Spell had struck like an overwhelming tide. Yet, before him, they were nothing more than a gentle breeze, unable to shake him in the slightest.

In the distance, Martha and Gilru, who were locked in battle with enemy Second-Circle Mages, caught sight of the scene from the corner of their eyes and immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Beyond their relief, they exchanged glances, both seeing shock and admiration reflected in each other's eyes.

"Lynn's defensive techniques… are just too many!" Martha couldn't help but whisper in awe.

"Forget 'too many' his defenses are outright ridiculous!" Gilru let out a bitter laugh, his emotions a complex mix of frustration and amazement.

"Even if three First-Level Wizards joined forces to attack, they probably still wouldn't be able to break through his defenses... This guy could he have even more trump cards he hasn't used yet?"

At the mere thought of this possibility, both Gilru and Martha couldn't help but feel a newfound sense of respect.

Lynn's defense was as unbreakable as a turtle's shell…

In truth, it wasn't just Lynn's teammates who were stunned. Even the Star Hunters spies watching from afar had stiff expressions, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.

They had initially assumed that Lynn was the weakest of the three, as his aura indeed seemed the least threatening. Yet, after all these attacks, not a single hair on his body had been harmed?

"Three mages attacking together, and they still can't break his defenses?"

"This defense... it's like a damn turtle shell!"

Lynn exhaled deeply, a satisfied expression appearing on his face.

Through this battle, he had completely confirmed his absolute defensive capability at the First-Level Wizard level.

He could confidently say his defensive setup was enough to dominate his entire level. No one could break through it!

Just then, the magical array on the ground began to hum with energy, its core glowing even brighter, energy flowing through it like a vast river of stars as it entered its second phase.

Suddenly, a terrifying wave of power spread outward like ripples, carrying an overwhelming oppressive force that seemed to distort and compress even the surrounding space.

This surge of energy contained a suppression effect against beings of divine civilizations like snow melting beneath the spring sun, the Star Hunters members' auras were instantly weakened by more than half.

The previously arrogant enemy mages now showed looks of horror, their steps involuntarily retreating.

And amid this stifling atmosphere, a monstrous presence suddenly erupted from the distance, shaking the heavens and earth.

Crack!

Crack!

Crack!

The magic formation trembled as cracks spread across its protective barrier as if an invisible giant hand was tearing it apart.

In the next moment, a faint yet imposing silhouette appeared within the fragmented light, forcefully ripping through the formation and charging inside.

Lynn's eyes narrowed sharply, his instincts screaming in alarm.

The figure carried an intense aura of bloodlust, far surpassing that of an ordinary mage.

Seeing this, Lynn's expression turned serious he knew that the Second Level Wizard hiding in the shadows had finally made his move!

As the silhouette grew clearer, a cold snort resounded like rolling thunder.

"Hmph!"

Clad in flowing robes of blue and white, the intruder's face was masked, their entire being shrouded in eerie magical fluctuations.

Simply standing there, they exuded a presence akin to a primordial beast gazing down upon its prey sending an involuntary chill down the spine.

The sheer pressure from their aura blanketed the battlefield, suffocating all in its reach.

"This… this is at least a Fifth-Circle Mage!"

Gilru's expression changed drastically, his eyes full of caution as he hastily warned Lynn and Martha.

His voice trembled slightly clearly, the sheer force of the aura had shaken him to the core.

A Fifth-Circle Mage was equivalent to the early stage of a Second-Level Wizard, a whole level above all of them!

Such an existence could crush them with ease.

And this Fifth Circle Mage had just stormed through the magical formation, tearing open a massive breach in its protective shield. His overwhelming aura surged forth like a tangible force.

The previously oppressive suppression effect covering the battlefield weakened significantly, and the surrounding magical energy became chaotic as if space itself was groaning under the strain.

"This is bad…" Martha's face paled, her brows furrowed with deep concern.

She quickly moved closer to Lynn, her eyes filled with vigilance.

Lynn, on the other hand, narrowed his gaze, locking onto the figure in the blue-and-white robe. His muscles instinctively tensed.

Even through the thick mask, he could feel the icy, blade-like gaze locked onto him like a hawk fixating on its prey, sending a cold shiver down his spine.

The Fifth Circle Mage stood at the center of the formation, his expression unreadable, yet the killing intent in his presence was unmistakable.

He had waited outside for a long time, originally hoping his ten subordinates would complete their mission and retreat successfully. But after such a long delay with no sign of them, suspicion began to creep in.

"Hmph…"

His cold snort carried an unmistakable chill of impatience.

Though those ten subordinates weren't particularly remarkable, letting them die in his presence would be too disgraceful.

Yet, what truly enraged him was the surge of a particular aura within the magical array an aura that filled him with utter revulsion, one that made his very being seethe with the urge to annihilate it.

It was the stench of blasphemy.

"A heretic…" he muttered, his voice low and icy.

His figure blurred as he charged into the battlefield like a raging storm. His blue-and-white robes fluttered wildly, and with every step he took, the ground beneath him echoed with a resounding "thud", like a heavy hammer pounding against the soul.

"Archmage Yude, where are you? Why haven't you shown yourself yet…?"

Lynn took a deep breath. Though his heart remained calm, a faint sheen of cold sweat had already formed on his forehead.

He was well aware that being able to fend off attacks from three members of the Star Hunters did not mean he could withstand a fatal strike from a Fifth Circle Mage.

The absolute gap in the realm was not something that could be bridged easily.

After all, the basic enhancement of a Second Level spell was far greater than that of a First Level spell.

A First Level spell had a 100% additional effect, whereas a Second Level spell had a 200% boost.

For the same consumption of 30 points of mental power, a First Level spell might only reach about 60 degrees, while a Second Level spell could approach 100 degrees a significant difference!

At the same time, Martha and Gilru gradually closed in on Lynn, forming a triangular formation, silently linking their strengths to be ready for coordinated defense at any moment.
