Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Falling Star

However, if one were to take a broad view of this boundary line, they would find that along it, unique neutral forces had emerged.

These neutral forces included certain cities and organizations that accommodated members from both the Black Wizards and White Wizards.

Not only did they serve as occasional meeting points for both factions, but they also acted as bridges of communication between them.

Yet, to establish a truly neutral zone that could accept both factions in such a hostile land, there had to be a powerful entity backing it.

Lynn's gaze lingered on the book, specifically on a special city known as the "Nightmare Rift."

According to the book, this rift was once a plain. However, centuries ago, it was transformed into its current form due to a brutal war between the Black Wizards and White Wizards.

Legend had it that the plain was originally the secluded dwelling of a high-ranking wizard.

The conflict between the two factions enraged this powerful figure, who resorted to forbidden magic, burying countless wizards in the process and single-handedly expelling both forces from the land.

After the forbidden spell was cast, the plain was torn apart, forming a deep and endless rift.

Now, the Nightmare Rift had become part of the boundary between the Black Wizards and White Wizards.

Yet deep within the rift, many neutral cities and strongholds had arisen.

"The distance from the Furnace isn't particularly far about ten or so kingdoms and duchies away..."

Lynn studied the map, lost in thought when suddenly, the chair beneath him trembled slightly.

This abrupt disturbance sent a jolt through his heart.

"What's happening to the Furnace? I'm in the core tower could we be under attack?"

With doubt creeping into his mind, Lynn quickly got up and rushed to the third level of the tower.

A commotion had already begun, with numerous apprentices stepping out of their rooms, their faces filled with surprise as they glanced around.

"It's... that 'birdman'!"

Lynn's eyes landed on a familiar apprentice.

The person wore a bird-beak mask, with an owl perched on his shoulder. His expression was just as unsettled.

This was the same intelligence source Lynn had previously dealt with.

At this moment, the entire tower seemed to be trembling faintly.

This was the core tower of the Furnace, the very lifeblood of a Morning Star Wizard. It should have been impossible for something like this to happen.

But in the next instant, a dazzling light exploded from the top of the tower, spreading rapidly along the magic formations of the Furnace and enveloping the entire structure.

"These runes..."

Lynn instinctively squinted his eyes, as the intense light forced him to turn away. However, from the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the glowing runes on the walls.

These runes looked extremely familiar, and in an instant, his memories flashed back to the Nightshadow Fortress.

During that battle, a formal wizard had once used a teleportation spell to send them directly to the battlefield.

The runes that had appeared during the activation of that teleportation formation were almost identical to the ones before him now!

"This is a teleportation formation! The core of the Furnace… just how wide is its coverage?"

Waves of shock surged through Lynn's mind.

Not far away, the so-called "birdman" also narrowed his eyes, his owl flapping its wings warily.

"From what I know, the battlefield situation has been at a stalemate for some time now. Activating a teleportation formation so suddenly… could they be sending us directly to the battlefield?"

He murmured, his voice laced with disbelief and a hint of confusion.

Even as a key intelligence officer, he had trouble making sense of the situation.

The Furnace had gathered vast resources and power, yet it had still failed to conquer the Emerald Isle Forest.

And now, even the core of the Furnace itself was being transported there just what secret was hidden in that damned forest?

The formal wizards stationed within the Furnace, who had been busy with their affairs, were also drawn out by the sudden event.

As they stepped out of their chambers, they froze in shock, their eyes filled with disbelief.

What they saw was a massive teleportation formation covering the entire Furnace, with the core tower at its center. The formation radiated dazzling light, devouring everything around it.

"The War Furnace, the war fortress... The Furnace is descending upon the Emerald Isle Forest what will happen?"

"There must be a Morning Star Wizard behind this! First, they captured that man's heir, Aestry, and now they're forcing the Furnace into battle!"

"Who would have thought that this individual would go to such extremes for Aestry..."

"Heh, an heir with the potential to become a Morning Star Wizard? Of course, they're worth it."

A group of formal wizards gathered together, their eyes fixed on the glowing teleportation array as they speculated about the situation.

A teleportation array spanning across three kingdoms and duchies was not particularly complicated, but transferring the entire Furnace was a massive undertaking one that would certainly take considerable time to complete.

At the pinnacle of the Furnace's core tower, the Furnace Lord sat upon his throne. Behind him, a statue of a pale eye radiated a chilling aura.

In his hand, he held an aged letter, his pale gaze fixed on the four towering pillars above him. Each pillar represented one of the four elements earth, water, fire, and wind glowing ever brighter.

As time passed, the teleportation array's glow intensified.

The formation was nearing completion. The Furnace Lord's gaze deepened as he issued a cold command to the Furnace Spirit:

"Activate the reserves of earth, water, fire, and wind. Once the teleportation is complete, establish a connection between the two locations and construct a passageway."

The Furnace Spirit obeyed without hesitation, swiftly mobilizing all the Furnace's internal energy reserves, and executing the prearranged plan with precision.

Only then did the Furnace Lord finally take a moment to unfold the old, tattered letter in his hand.

Although the envelope was faded and damaged over time, ancient wizard symbols were still carved into its center.

These symbols, when translated into common language, read: "Falling Star Council" a name that would bring bad luck to any Morning Star Wizard who saw it.

The Furnace Lord's fingers gently traced the letters, and instantly, a ghostly flame of soul energy flared from his fingertips, reducing the envelope to ashes.

As the letter crumbled into dust, a deep glint flickered in the Furnace Lord's eyes.

Meanwhile, the dazzling light of the teleportation array engulfed the Furnace. Lynn, moving with urgency, left the core tower and rushed toward the Potion Garden.

"So this thing is heading to battle, but even in war, they still need logistics personnel, right? I'll just stay in the Potion Garden I'm not getting dragged into the front lines again..."

Lynn was anxious. After all, Land, a Third-Level apprentice, had died not long after stepping onto the battlefield. This war was far more dangerous than the last one.

"Damn contract, binding me to the Furnace like this… I need to find a way to get rid of it as soon as possible..."

With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Lynn hurriedly returned to the Potion Garden.
