Chapter 136 - Chapter 136: The Golden Color—What City Is This?!

Pidgeot was lying on the ground, grooming its feathers with its beak.

Boldore had curled into a ball, resembling a blueish boulder—no one quite knew what it was up to.

Blaziken stood in one corner, legs slightly apart, eyes shut, its entire body radiating with a soft blue glow.

Snivy stared curiously at Blaziken. Though their types were naturally incompatible, this older brother figure had still played happily with her earlier that afternoon.

What's he doing?

"Training in Aura."

A strange fluctuation echoed in Snivy's heart. She could understand its meaning clearly, but it still gave her quite a fright.

Her eyes suddenly sparkled with excitement. What is this? It looks so fun!

Trying hard not to cry out, Snivy repeated the thought silently in her heart: "Can I learn this too?!"

Blaziken, still meditating with his eyes closed, sensed Snivy's thoughts and responded through Aura.

"Ask the boss later that's our Trainer. I'm not sure, but I don't think every Pokémon can learn this. It's really hard!"

There was a trace of pride and self-satisfaction in the response.

Snivy's eyes rolled thoughtfully before turning toward the Trainer.

But seeing that Silas was fully focused on something, the little one sighed. I'll ask later. I'm a good girl—I can't disturb the Trainer.

Sitting at the edge of the bed, her little feet dangling and lightly swinging in the air, Snivy felt a bit bored.

Everyone seemed to have something to do… except for her.

Wait, that's not true! Just now the Trainer told her to use the green stone to understand a move!

Snivy reached up and touched the Leaf Stone hanging around her neck.

Clenching her tiny hand around it, she made up her mind. Then let's start working hard from tonight!

Two vine-like whips slowly extended from her sides and rested gently on the Leaf Stone.

Green light began to emit from Snivy's body this was the energy of the Grass type.

Waves of green light pulsed outward, covering the entire room in rhythmic ripples.

The other Pokémon and the lone human couldn't help but let out soft hums of comfort.

This was Grassy Terrain a move that gradually restores stamina and improves the power of Grass-type attacks for all Pokémon within the area.

Though Silas's eyes stayed fixed on the words on his screen, a smile unknowingly curled up at the corners of his lips.

"Keep it up, little one."

Blaziken offered a bit of encouragement via Aura.

Snivy gave a small nod of her head.

The next morning.

After exchanging a quick goodbye with Jiro, Silas left Pewter Gym and continued his journey.

"Dull and sleepy, just like a Slowpoke's yawn~ (hey hey)

Yawning again, already dozing off~

There they go dancing~ (heya heya) the Bunny Parade~

Magical, magical, magical Pokémon Dance~

One-two-three—catch them all~!"

Silas boarded an intercity magnetic levitation train playing the old tune Pokémon Dance and found his assigned seat.

He had to admit, compared to ordinary Pokémon transit within a city, these high-speed intercity trains were very expensive.

Even though Pewter City and Saffron City weren't too far apart and were both major metropolitan areas, the ticket had still cost him 10,000 Poké Dollars.

His heart ached just thinking about it. If I'd known it would be this pricey, I wouldn't have spent the money just for the experience. In my last life, I rode every kind of vehicle imaginable!

But the ticket was bought no point backing out now.

"Woooo~"

At the scheduled time, the maglev train slowly began to move.

Following Pewter City's dedicated transit line, the train glided out of the urban limits and entered a lush, green forest.

Silas leaned against the window, quietly enjoying the view.

A gentle breeze slipped in through the vents, brushing against his medium-length hair.

Squinting slightly, he thought, Yep, this is what travel is supposed to feel like. You couldn't always rely on Pidgeot for long-distance journeys!

By now, he had already forgotten his earlier heartache.

As for walking or biking through the woods it was exhausting. Especially in forests full of thick grass, it just didn't compare to sitting comfortably on a train.

As the maglev train sped by, a whole flock of Pidgey was startled into flight.

Good thing they weren't Spearow, Silas thought. Otherwise, the train would've been under siege.

Far off in the distance, Mankey swung between tree branches; Rattata and Oddish could be seen occasionally peeking through the underbrush.

And of course, there were plenty of Caterpie, wriggling their bodies slowly across the leaves.

Silas let out a yawn. He hadn't slept much last night.

Mainly because of little Snivy she'd been such a handful. Not in a bad way, but because she had spent way too long practicing her new move.

Grassy Terrain kept triggering sporadically all night, and Silas's energy kept bouncing between refreshed and drained. If his body hadn't been in good shape, he wasn't sure he could have handled it.

Eventually, once Snivy had worn herself out, she curled up beside him and fell asleep only then did Silas finally doze off too.

It was rare to see a freshly hatched Pokémon so enthusiastic about self-training. Silas couldn't bear to discourage her. That would've been terrible for her growth.

The maglev train continued to glide smoothly, and after a long journey, it finally arrived at their destination Saffron City.

Saffron City was the central hub of the Kanto Region a vast and vibrant metropolis known worldwide for its prosperity.

The towering Silph Co. headquarters stood tall at the heart of the city, striking and unmistakable.

Silas walked out of the station and gave a long stretch.

"Zzzzzz—Zzzzzz—Zzzzzz—"

Nearby construction noise echoed constantly, prompting Silas to quickly move away from the site.

It was said they were building a cross-regional maglev line connecting Kanto's Saffron City and Johto's Goldenrod City. Once completed, it would operate 24/7, every day of the week, with top speeds of up to 550 km/h.

As for the current local city trains, their speed was intentionally slower to conserve energy and because the travel distance was shorter.

Walking through the streets of Saffron City, Silas was surrounded by towering glass skyscrapers, each reflecting the sunlight in dazzling golden hues. The entire city shimmered like gold.

Silas suddenly understood why the city was called Saffron. It perfectly matched the scenery before him.

Crowds of pedestrians packed the streets shoulder to shoulder, giving Silas the illusion that he had returned to his past life.

When he arrived at the Saffron City Pokémon Center, it was immediately obvious that there were more Trainers here than in any other city he had visited.

Silas walked up to the counter, pulled out his red Pokédex, and began the check-in process.

After receiving his key and slipping it into his pocket, he picked up a city guide booklet from the counter and walked to the lounge, reading it with interest.

Originally, Saffron City had two official Gyms, making it the most unique city in the entire Kanto Region completely one of a kind.

The two Gyms were the Fighting Dojo and the Psychic-type Gym.

The former was once led by Koichi, who proudly called himself the "Karate King." The latter was formerly led by Shigeru, the father of the now-renowned Psychic Queen Sabrina.

At first, both Gyms coexisted peacefully. Shigeru was a gentle and composed man. Even though he was far stronger and had a type advantage, he believed that if the Pokémon League had no objections to two Gyms coexisting, then there was no problem with continuing on that way.

Koichi also understood this situation well and didn't say much—after all, he was the one benefiting.

But everything changed after Shigeru's daughter, Sabrina, was born.

From a very young age, Sabrina showed overwhelming Psychic abilities.

Yes, Psychic abilities, not just Psychic Pokémon. Shigeru himself was a powerful Psychic so was his wife, although not as strong.

Shigeru could teleport without the aid of a Pokémon and even teleport other people with him. You could say he was practically a human Psychic-type Pokémon.

So it wasn't strange that their daughter was born with Psychic powers.

But Sabrina's talent was terrifying so overwhelming that even she couldn't control it. If her power erupted, it could destroy everything around her... including herself.

This forced Shigeru to gradually shift his focus away from managing the Gym, putting all his energy into suppressing and controlling his daughter's Psychic power.

Koichi, leader of the Fighting Dojo, seized the opportunity and began rising in popularity. Over time, Saffron City became a place where people only knew about the Fighting Dojo, forgetting the Psychic Gym even existed.

Then, three years ago, everything changed.

One day, there was a massive explosion at the Psychic Gym.

No one knows to this day what exactly happened. But the very next morning, Shigeru announced that he was stepping down and appointing his daughter, Sabrina, as the new Gym Leader.

People were stunned. It was absolutely absurd.

Sabrina was only 16 years old at the time—she had just recently become eligible to own Pokémon.

Shigeru himself was still in perfect condition. How could he pass on his Gym to someone so young? Especially when her strength didn't seem to meet the standard?

This decision drew the attention of the League, which promptly dispatched an investigation team to look into it.

After three days of inquiry, the investigation team issued a statement:

"Miss Sabrina's Psychic abilities are unparalleled. She possesses immense power and is fully qualified to serve as a Gym Leader."

Even so, the public was still in an uproar. Many refused to believe it.

They believed that Shigeru had used his powerful Psychic abilities to manipulate the investigation team into giving such a verdict.

But the very next day after the investigation team left, Sabrina, only 16 years old, boldly challenged Koichi the Karate King and leader of the Fighting Dojo.

The bet: the title of Saffron City's sole official Gym.

Koichi was overjoyed. He never believed that a 16-year-old girl could defeat him. It was a guaranteed win for him. Why would he say no?

And once victorious, he could officially claim the title of sole Gym Leader of the largest city in Kanto fame and fortune would be his.

So, on the third day after the League left, the two faced off in battle.

Everyone who attended that battle had only one thing to say afterward:

"Sabrina truly worthy of the title 'Psychic Queen'. She's a Gardevoir in human form."

(Gardevoir is also known as the Psychic Queen.)

Due to the intense waves of energy released during the battle, much of the footage was unusable. But from what little could be seen, Sabrina was bathed in radiant light, her form glowing in sync with her Alakazam.

What followed was an overwhelming victory. With just that one Alakazam, Sabrina swept all six of Koichi's Pokémon.

No one could say a word in response. While a few diehards still claimed it was a massive hoax, most people understood that a true powerhouse had risen.

Seeing this, Silas couldn't help but let out a long sigh.

This is insane even novels wouldn't dare write something like this.

He was a reincarnator, with a cheat system, nearly 17 years old, and had three Advanced-level Pokémon.

Sabrina? A native of this world, no system, 16 years old, and swept an Elite-class team with just one Pokémon.

"A bit hard to believe, isn't it?"

A soft, eerie voice echoed nearby. Silas stiffly raised his head.

In front of him… stood a doll-like girl.
