Chapter 292 - Chapter 292: The Senior's True Face?

Wade took Nagini with him and left his laboratory.

He casually grabbed a passing goblin and said, "Prepare a stone chamber suitable for combat."

The goblin froze for a moment, then led Wade in a certain direction. Soon, they arrived at a massive stone chamber.

"This place was set aside to be used as a storeroom, but it hasn't been put to use yet. It should meet your requirements," the goblin said dully.

"Good. Leave. Without my orders, no one is allowed to enter," Wade said.

The goblin nodded and turned to leave the storeroom.

Wade closed the stone door, then returned to the center of the chamber and placed Nagini, who had been coiled around his wrist, onto the ground.

"I'm about to undo the Transfiguration on you. Your consciousness will soon be suppressed again… but don't worry, this is only temporary. When you wake up, you'll have returned to human form," Wade said calmly.

"Hiss, hiss, hiss…"

"Don't worry. Even if you revert to your snake form now, you won't be able to do anything to me. I won't be in any danger," Wade said as he turned and walked several steps back.

After roughly judging the distance, Wade stopped, turned his head, and asked, "Are you ready?"

Nagini did not answer, only coiling quietly in place.

Wade did not urge her, but waited patiently.

Even though she was in her snake form, she was rarely this clear-headed.

If it failed, she might never wake up again, and that was precisely the danger of this treatment.

So in these final minutes, she tried her best to savor the feeling of still being conscious…

After a long while, Nagini finally raised her head and nodded firmly at Wade.

"Alright." Wade drew his wand and pointed it at Nagini from a distance.

The Transfiguration on Nagini was gradually undone.

Crack! Crack!

As the spell was lifted, Nagini's body slowly began to grow from the thickness of chopsticks!

After being bound by Transfiguration for so long, and tempered by ancient magic. Nagini's snake body had been greatly weakened. It was no longer as massive as when Wade had first seen her.

But it still grew to nearly fifty centimeters thick and eleven to twelve meters long.

At the same time, her eyes shifted from clarity to bloodlust and madness.

"Rawwrrr!!"

After being suppressed for so long, the fury of Nagini's beast soul erupted. Without hesitation, she opened her massive jaws and lunged forward.

However, just as her head lifted, Wade Reynolds gently flicked his wand downward.

Bang!

Her entire body crashed straight to the ground.

It was as if the floor had been coated with powerful glue. No matter how wildly Nagini struggled, she could not move an inch…

Wade walked forward slowly, placed his left hand lightly on Nagini's trembling head as she continued to struggle, then gently tapped her forehead with his wand.

Wisps of white mist emerged from the tip of the wand and flowed straight into Nagini's forehead.

Those thick scales could not block it in the slightest.

Wade slowly closed his eyes, his consciousness following that strand of white mist inside.

He felt the surroundings dim slightly, and when he came back to his senses, he had already arrived in a vast white space.

This environment was all too familiar to Wade.

Back when he practiced nightmare magic, this was exactly what the dreamscape looked like whenever he entered a dream.

Logically speaking, this should be Nagini's consciousness space…

Does that mean that a person's consciousness space and the dream world are actually connected?

Wade raised his hand and brushed aside the dense white mist in front of him. Soon, in the very center of the white expanse, he saw a deep green serpent.

However, this great snake looked sickly and weak, curled up there without even the strength to lift its head.

Beside the serpent stood a pure white tree, so white that even its leaves were pale…

And beneath the trunk of that tree, Nagini in human form lay quietly.

Wade only glanced once before turning his gaze away.

Because in this space, what was revealed was the soul in its purest form, and Nagini's soul was currently without consciousness.

That meant she had no way to conjure clothes for herself…

Suddenly, the white mist beside the serpent was blown away, and Wade saw the silhouette of a woman appear behind it.

The woman had long golden hair, faint strands of white light shimmering between the locks.

She wore a dark green robe embroidered with silver patterns of stars and moons. As the robe swayed slightly, those patterns glimmered with a soft, gentle light.

Hmm? Wade Reynolds keenly noticed that delicate snake-shaped patterns were embroidered along the edge of her robe.

As if hearing movement behind her, the woman turned around.

The first thing Wade noticed was her eyes. They were deep green, clear and tranquil, like the surface of the Black Lake under moonlight at night…

When she saw Wade, her slender, gentle brows lifted slightly, and a soft smile suddenly appeared at the corner of her lips.

"I wanted to see how your nightmare magic has been progressing, so I came."

Damn.. Hearing her pleasant voice, Wade widened his eyes. "You're… my senior?"

"Hello, Wade. This counts as our first proper meeting, I suppose… it's just a pity that I've forgotten my own name. My apologies."

How can someone be so.. beautifu—What the fuck?

"Ehm.. Don't worry. You'll remember it," Wade said.

This was the first time his senior had appeared before him in her true form. Compared to before, when she had been shrouded in dark mists, it was clear that she was now much closer to breaking free, to the point that she could already appear in her original appearance…

"You're as confident as ever. Alright, we can talk about that later. Right now, you still have important business, don't you?" his senior said as she turned toward the great serpent ahead.

Wade could not help touching his nose. If this senior of his were a character created by some player, they definitely would have installed a beautification mod!

However, Wade quickly came back to his senses and walked over to the great serpent.

"Which method are you going to use?" his senior asked.

"The most forceful one." As Wade Reynolds spoke, a wand appeared in his hand, and he swiftly tapped it against the great serpent's forehead.

"Hiss!~~~<<<<"

The previously sickly serpent suddenly roared and sprang up, lunging fiercely at Wade.

Wade casually swung his wand, and the serpent was knocked back at once.

"This one's quite cunning… pretending to be weak. Unfortunately for you, once I'm in here, all your disguises become useless," Wade said, though his hands never stopped moving.

Strands of white mist, like creeping vines, continuously wrapped around the serpent's body.

Before long, the entire serpent was completely enveloped in the white mist.

Like prey cocooned in a spider's web.

"That makes sense. When you have enough power, just push straight through," his senior said, clearly pleased with Wade's choice.

"Next, it's time to cleanse the serpent's consciousness." Wade gave his wand a light flick, and a strand of reddish-brown "residue" was drawn out from the serpent's body and stored away.

His senior's eyes lit up. "So that's how it is. Instead of crushing the serpent's consciousness, you're directly extracting all of its negative emotions? This is even better than the plan I helped you refine."

"The great serpent doesn't actually have true consciousness. It only has the instinct to survive and the innate ferocity of a beast, without a single trace of positive emotion. That's why it's filled with aggression."

"And the instinct to survive exists in both animals and humans, so it can be ignored. As long as all the negative emotions are removed, the serpent's consciousness is essentially gone."

"This causes far less damage to the soul than directly shattering the consciousness," Wade said as he continued extracting the negative emotions from the serpent's body.

Ancient magic creates residues by extracting emotions, whether negative or positive.

The side effect of this extraction is that the subject loses all emotions and becomes an empty shell without feelings.

For humans, this is normally a terrifying consequence.

But used here, it directly turns the serpent's soul into an empty shell that quietly nourishes Nagini's human soul.

Before long, the serpent's struggles gradually weakened, until it finally lay completely still…

Wade withdrew the mist that had been enveloping the serpent.

The great serpent no longer struggled. It simply lay there blankly on the ground, the fierce look in its eyes now hollow and empty.

"Excellent… you've succeeded," his senior said with a smile. "As long as the soul power flows from the beast soul to the human soul from now on, those emotions won't regenerate, and it will completely lose its consciousness."

"Mm." A trace of pride and delight flashed across Wade's face. "Next, we need to build the connection between the two. This step is also crucial. It has to be a one-way conduit."

As he spoke, Wade was about to walk toward Nagini's naked human soul.

Suddenly, his senior said, "I'm better at this part than you. Let me do it."

Then she stepped in front of Wade, blocking his view.

Wade nodded. "Alright. You really are better at this."

His senior raised her hand, and a gentle white light lit up in her palm. The white mist twisted and coiled around her hand as if alive.

Before long, a white conduit covered in countless intricate magical patterns connected the foreheads of Nagini and the great serpent.

As his senior continued her movements, the white conduit slowly shrank into a thin line, and in the end, even that line disappeared…

Wade watched in astonishment. Although the line was no longer visible, he could clearly sense that a new connection had formed between the great serpent and Nagini.

"All done." His senior clapped her hands in satisfaction.

In the next moment, the massive body of the great serpent began to slowly shrink.

At the same time, on the other side, Nagini's soul changed from faint and fragile to solid and strong.

This was the sign of the beast soul nourishing the human soul.

"That's amazing… when will my nightmare magic ever be as powerful as yours?" Wade Reynolds said with a sigh.

"Haha~ You could do it too. You'd just need to find a place and be locked away for a few decades…"

"I'll pass on that." Wade shook his head quickly. If he were really locked up for decades, what if Tom turned back into Voldemort?

The current Tom was far stronger than before thanks to his guidance. If Wade were gone, who would be able to keep him in check?

"She's about to wake up. We should leave as well," his senior said.

Wade felt his consciousness spin, and when he came back to his senses, he was once again in the empty storeroom.

His hand was still resting on the Nagini's forehead.

As if everything that had just happened had been nothing more than a dream.
