Chapter 7 - A Wormy Attack

Kirko and Cain looked horrified by the sight in front of them.

A huge worm, having a 1-metre gap for each segment of its body. It had no eyes and just a huge mouth which was gaping open, and over 100 sharp, thin, and long teeth were all over its mouth.

It jumped out of the ground, then turned towards the direction of Kirko and Cain, and then started to rush towards them.

"RUN!!" Kirko shouted.

Then he started sprinting away, but he felt something was off, so he turned back and he saw the worm rushing towards Cain, who was frozen standing still in fear.

"CAIN!!! MOVE."

This brought Cain back to reality, but it was already too late. The worm was right in front of him, and then in the blink of an eye, Kirko saw Cain disappear with a tear on his face.

Kirko's eyes turned into flames. "GIVE HIM BACK!!" Without another thought, he ran to the worm, summoned both his daggers, and jumped to strike. To his shock, one of his daggers pierced through the skin while the other couldn't even pierce.

The worm screamed and wiggled its body. Kirko got pushed away but he teleported back to the dagger and hung on for his life, 'Why did only one of them pierce? Did I pierce into his weak spot?' His body kept flying. 'No. It's because my weapon got sharpened.' Kirko got pushed away but with his dagger, he flew straight into a wall and crashed into it. His whole body was hurting and blood ran all over his body.

He got out of the rubble of stones and stood up. He saw the worm in front of him. It was facing Kirko, then went into the ground. 'What? Why did he go down?' The ground started shaking and the building Kirko was thrown into started to fall. He jumped off and below him he saw teeth shining and sharp. The worm's mouth was wide open and ready to eat Kirko.

He threw his dagger out of the range of the worm's mouth, 'Hopefully this plan works.' Then he succumbed to the worm and let himself fall into the darkness, but instead of swallowing him as soon as he reached the mouth, it started to close its mouth, going to crush Kirko with its mouth.

'What, you had to close your mouth right now?' Kirko panicked.

He stopped panicking and stood like a pencil, hoping that this would make him fall faster.

He got close and the teeth also started closing. He was going to get impaled. Kirko started sweating, 'There's no other way.' He blocked the teeth in front of him using his dagger while his back got scraped by the teeth tearing his skin.

Kirko closed his eyes and curled up into a ball waiting to land. "My back hurts!" A tear ran on his face.

***2 mins later

'How haven't I reached the ground yet?' Kirko spread his body, "How big is this worm?"

He looked around, noticing the slimy but weirdly dull interior which was in a slightly bright colour.

'I don't like this.'

After a while, he kept thinking about his memories with Cain, even though it was a short amount of time. It was the first time he hung out with someone. Cain was Kirko's first friend — well, if he thinks of him as a friend — he was going to do anything to save him, to save his only friend.

Kirko was alone for 5 whole minutes just talking to himself and falling down, but he noticed the ground, and before he could curl up into a ball, he crashed into the floor.

"Ack." His back landed first, "Ahhhh." He got up and touched the floor, "Uhh, it's slimy. This went into my wound." His body trembled.

He wiped blood from his face and then touched the wound on his back, enduring the pain. "It feels shallow." Then looked at his hand, "I'm losing a lot of blood."

He wanted to get up and needed support, so when he tried to grab onto something, the slimy wall made his hand slip. 'I can't get back up.' So he tried to push himself up by pushing the ground, but he slipped and he fell down again. 'What can I do?' He felt the ground and got an idea. He pushed himself forward and the slipperiness of the ground propelled himself forward and he went deeper into the worm, but while going down he took out his dagger. "Now suffer, you goddamn worm." A big grin came on his face.

Shhk.

He stabbed the worm and sliced it while going deeper, tearing open the inner part of the worm. "Now you suffer!!"

He kept falling and eventually splashed into disgusting-looking liquid with piles of bones and other weird objects in it. 'I'm guessing this is the stomach, so Cain must be nearby.' He kept searching through the weird liquid, walking in it, and after a while of searching, he saw a hand sticking out.

"That must be him."

He rushed towards him. He caught his hand and when he was pulling it up, "This feels light." He pulled it up and in front of him he was holding a hand with no torso or body. "Is this Cain?" Kirko got very sad to the point that he was close to crying. He threw the hand away, "NO way that's Cain. I should find him soon."

Kirko kept searching for a long time. The liquid turned red from his wound was trailing him wherever he went, but eventually he found Cain. Kirko became very happy and couldn't stop a smile from coming onto his face. "Please let this work." Kirko held Cain's unconscious body and with hope in his eyes he spoke,

"Teleport."

Just as he teleported, a huge mass of weight fell onto his body. Kirko was below the worm, carrying its body as hard as he could while Cain was sleeping below him.

Kirko took out his dagger, his face full blush and his cheeks puffed with air. He stabbed the beast and sliced it open, letting all its blood flow onto him, activating his title's effect. As more blood flowed onto him, the less work he had to put carrying the beast, and eventually, he could push the beast away, relieving his hand from all the strain.

"Finally that hell is over."

His hands were sore, but he had to continue and kill the beast, so he turned towards it, bringing out both his daggers, but it was not moving. "Why is it not moving?"

He went over to it, then kicked it slightly, then jumped back and took a defensive pose, "Wait, is it already dead?"

Kirko went close and stabbed it, but it did not move. "Did I kill it by injuring its inside?" Kirko smiled with joy then wiped the blood off his face. His beige hoodie became red from all the blood.

Kirko held Cain by his shirt, then dragged him to a nearby building.

"Please tell me you are alive." He was both tired and worried at the same time.

He then went to check Cain's pulse, putting two fingers on the nerve on the bottom of Cain's palm.

Then his face became pale and his mouth gaped wide. He couldn't feel anything…
